The only thing I can logically think of would be a mistake on their website and it's 42'' to ride ALONE which I would completely support.

 

Hopefully someone from the park will come and correct this ASAP.

Exactly. What a waste of money to refurbish and install a coaster that can't be ridden by it's target audience.

Yes, absolutely. They put in a children's ride that children can't ride.

Six Flags has been digging their own grave for quite some time now but I think they just hit the liquid-nickel core of the Earth. The earth is literally falling apart before our eyes.

This is just as dumb as Knott's building Pony Express or raising the height restriction on Jaguar, both of which are targeted for families yet have a 48" height restriction. No, wait, it's worse since Pony Express is somewhat unique while this is the third coaster of the same layout within a two hour drive. Disneyland's is 35", Castle Park's is 36", there is no reason this should be 42". I could name a dozen coasters in Southern California alone that someone of that height could ride that are all significantly larger. This addition makes absolutely no sense.

 

Edit: I just found out that the height requirement for Merlin's Revenge is actually 40". Still doesn't make sense why the exact same ride needs to have different height requirements at different parks, or why parks will install a ride that can't be ridden by that ride's target audience.

^^^It's funny you mention Knotts. I was just trying to think about which height restriction is more unbelievable. SFMM's Roller Skater at 42'' or Jaguar at 48''. It's a hard call!

 

I think we can all just agree that SoCal sucks in general!

 

 

^That's what I posted on the last page. I seriously hope this is all just a mistake on their website and it's 36'' with an adult and 42'' to ride alone. Time will tell!

I'm assuming it's a mistake. Probably will have some sort of "accompanied by adult" restriction.

 

HOWEVER..... is it really "end of the world" if it isn't? I mean a boycott of Magic Mountain? I agree that it's a crazy height requirement but come on. A little over the top with the anger/animosity don't we think?

^I agree. There's tons of other valid reasons to boycott the park. This one reason seems a bit superficial

If this is a mistake, then that's odd too...if something goes up on the site, it should be official and not false. It should also be clear whether or not it's 42 inches with an adult or to ride alone.

After seeing all the trip reports, tours, coverage (etc.) on Terminator, X2, Thomas Town (etc. again) I'm surprised to see that.

They came in, and really inspired a lot of people. But some of that inspiration has been wearing thin, and some people have said that it seems like lately the 'new' management is backtracking a bit. This could be a really big sign.

Surprised once again. I thought management was doing a fine job and have loved what the parks have done in that past few years. I agree that the height requirement on this isn't representative of the push for family but what are other signs? I'm not being condescending when I ask that. I really want to know.

This is either a mistake or a lack of clarification if the height limit varies for a child riding alone vs. riding with an adult.

 

We know park officials read this site; hopefully someone will take note and have the website corrected (if applicable) or rethink this. Do you think it's possible that someone there made an "intentional" mistake to spark some discussion?
