Token Yankee Guy
So today since I only had to work from 6-10am and my mom had the day off, we decided to drive about 1hr 1/2 to Jiminy Peak, Massachusetts up in the Berkshires area of Mass. near not too far from the NY line. This is the place with the second mountain coaster in the United States, only one east of the Mississippi, and I gotta say, no wonder the Europeans love these mountain coasters, they're a lot of fun. I was gunning it down the track going at least 30mph. The track length was about 2000 which included a nice helix towards the end. Also, those cars can really stop on a dime if you run into traffic on the track. The park also had a few other things like euro-bungy, alpine slides, padded jousting, rock climbing wall, 9 hole mini golf and a small zip-line, but that was closed for good since the manufacturer went out of business. Now for some photos and to end the TR, a nice view of the Jiminy Peak area from the ski lift. In the helix...I think a very special OMFG moment Now for some POV pics You can see the helix better here Mom coming to the end of the Alpine Slide track Alpine slides running Unloading and Loading aerial view. Track running through the woods Sweet, they're about to get the alpine slides ready since they can't run in the rain so they had to be dried off Mom and I approve this ride My mom coming into the unloading station Looking down towards the loading station Getting towards the end of the ride This is where it starts to get fast and hard to keep the car moving while trying to take a picture Reaching the top to begin the 2000ft long decent. going up the 1000ft long cable lift hill. The massachusetts amusement rides licence plate. They got these on every ride over at SFNE The brake-run and unloading station is above the loading station the mountain coaster station ooo, jousting A small rain storm passed by, but after it cleared up, everyone opened (except the zip-line)

methylene
That looks incredibly fun. Where is the location of the mountain coaster residing west of the Mississippi? Matt
viking86
Those Alpine coasters are amazing! I rode the worlds longest last year. 3.5 kilometers long I think. Had like 60-70 turns! We managed to get down in 5-6 minutes totally exhausted after holding on for dear life! Good times
BeemerBoy
Great pics. I was completely unaware of these rides! And now I feel stupid for saying that out loud. Well, I've been on an alpine slide before, but I was clueless about the Mountain Coasters. So how smooth was it anyway? I too am anxious to see a pov in the future. Token Yankee Guy
Well im guessing JPs opened first so they were "#2" Yeah, the Park City one is currently being built and due to open in august, but it's expensive as all gets out. 15 bucks for one ride on the coaster, that's bull. I liked Jiminy's price plans, so many to choose from.
SharkTums
^Yeah, but don't forget Park City is an expensive resort town, and this is the newest biggest alpine coaster in the country. There's a lot of cool summer stuff at Park City now, time to take a trip there NOT during the Winter for once!
Token Yankee Guy
^ Yeah, I've taken a peek at the site which talks about the mountain coaster at park city, and they have a lot of neat attractions. Their zip line is friggin amazing, I'd spend some money on that one.

Hattuchili
Hey Craig, that really looks like a great day with some cool slides! I was on a alpine slide, but never on a mountain coaster! It really looks like fun. Is it really fast and do you can control the speed? Anyway, this is the good old PTR style from Craig, that I really missed! --Sören
Alexander Nagel
Well after riding the one at Glenwood Cavens a few weeks ago, I had thought about trying this one out when going up to The Great Escape this saturday. Now looks like i'll be cutting my day at The Great Escape a little short since this one looks even better than the one at Glenwood Caven. Craig - how much is it to ride the alpine coaster & slide?
