  1. Well beyond new coaster installations, you have you remember all the replacement cars that PTC builds. With the average coasters car having a service life of about 20 to 30 years their are a whole lot of potential projects. Then beyond new builds, PTC does multiple winter rehabs a year. There are currently no less than 67 cars in the shop being rehabbed at the moment. The point is PTC will be fine
  2. One station for both unload/load is going to be a nightmare. People already take forever to get back to there seat after putting items in the bins (what do they even do at X now with items i've never ridden it did they have carts like Volcano does). Whatever i've never been to SFMM and won't be for years to come so I don't really care but it seems stupid to have one station. How many extra people does it really require to have the unload station?
  3. They are more of a concept to make people aware. Awareness like that the company is always open to consider doing new things. The single cars demo straight different configurations that could possibly be done. But they will never run since they are show cars and nothing more.
  4. Wow that would of really pissed me off...I probably would argued until they let me ride or kicked me out of the park. that's total BS but you were there with your kids so in that sitution i'd still be pissed but just deal with it.
  5. I'm not suprised Stampida...I figured the results were going to be just as you describe the minute I saw the first picture of them. Have fun Port Aventura you should of stuck with PTC.
  6. Yea it was completely random and ironic that they played that clip and the Julie girl then later showed up to sit in on the XM side of the side of the show and that she happened to be a coaster fan. They actually later replayed that clip that of INfusion for her because she hadn't heard it.
  7. She was on the XM side of the show so you won't hear her. Elissa She sounded like a typical coaster enthusiast to be honest but whatever...i don't really care it was just kind neat to hear an coaster enthusiast on my favorite radio show. O&A definitely didn't get why she liked roller coasters so much, but hell I get that a lot myself. It's also nice to hear that there are some other O&A (and R&F) fans on here.
  8. My take on all things wii: Games I own Wii Sports: Great for a play here or there but i've never been big on sports games. I was great that Nintendo included it with the system though. Wii Play: Bought for a Wiimote when they were hard to come by. It game is no more than a tech demo although Tank Tag is cool. Would be a rip off it was a 50 dollar game instead of a 10 dollar game. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: Best Wiimake todate, probably the best Zelda game ever (but i haven't played all the way thru either N64 zeldas). The game's storyline is very dark but I think that is probably what makes it so good. Rayman Raving rabbids: Best mini game collection on the Wii. You'll love the rabbits. If you don't have this one your missing out. Elebits: Best game I have that's been built from the ground up for the Wii. I don't know how it will hold up to the test of time though. Wario Ware: Great game for when you have friends over Monkeyball Bannana Bliz: I'm split on this one, I haven't played any of the gamecube games but I enjoyed the game for the most park but the controls were a little annoying. First it would have been nice to have held the wiimote sideways. Second like a lot of SEGA game they just can't seem to figure out the camera. It okay during the main stages but you will have to fight it a little. The Boss stages the camera makes the game on most stages unplayable. The some of the mini games had some value bust most were worthless. Super Paper Mario: While I enjoyed the game I have my issue. First of all this was a GameCube game play Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door and you'll see everything from the graphics to the menus were the same. Second I don't really like how they took the turn based RPG style out of the series. Games i'm excited about and plane to buy: Trauma Center: Second Opinion: Love the DS game but it does suck it the Wii version is the same aside from the controls. but i'll get it anyways. Sonic and the Secret Rings: i'll always liked sonic games and it's said to be one of the better 3D sonic games. Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree: I'll get this for the same reason I got Wario Ware. Great to play with non-gamers. BRING ON THE M RATED GAMES! Nintendo needs them! Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition- I'm just getting into the series so I haven't gotten to this on GameCube yet and will probably get this tommorrow just to support 3rd party publishers. Man Hunt 2: wow this game is twisted! It's going to scare the death out of me but it looks awesome. This game will kill the image that Nintendo only puts out kiddie games well I have class now so I'll have to finish this later and edit it for grammar, sorry
  9. Anyone else catch this a few minutes ago? Opie & Anthony totally ripped into her (Julie) for be fat just like we do with all ACErs. I'm just wondering if she posts here. Hey any O&A fans here on TPR?
  10. I suprised that there isn't a gas powered motor for back up given the lift hill setup.
  11. The trains (2) are brand new. They are almost finished, are purple, have lapbars and look really good. My question is where is the transfer track going to be and for that matter the station as the new trains now have fin brakes so a curved station is out.
  12. not to be an ass but you've got some good photos but you also have some really bad ones. It's just better to filter out the bad ones, hell i'm guilty of not doing this at one point.
  13. Well really the problem has already been identified...bad maintenance During a tear down the of the trains the part that failed (i'm guessing the bolt or nut that connects the wheel assembly to the articulating cross member)would have most likely been found to have wear and replaced. I'm not blaming the daily maintenance of the park since there are things that can only be found during the annual tear down. So if tear down hadn't been delayed or the ride was closed until the required tear down was done the women might be alive. Then again it could have been bad daily maintenance...who knows As for the handrails being blamed...well its just the way coasters are in japan. There isn't anything wrong with them and they make maintenance of the welds a lot easier. While they ultimately caused the death it's the wheel assembly that is at fault. If anything while the handrail did kill the women afterward it did was it there for, to provide access and if anything to get the other people off. I know if was on that train standing anywhere in cars 3 thru 5 that other than pain from whiplash, that having to stand there witness "things" in front of me that i'd want off as soon as possible and ever minute would count. I mean really what it came down to is the nature of the ride (being a stand up) as a wheel assembly disconnected from a train was happened many different coaster across the world from time to time. It's basically the same thing that happened to the Demon at SFGAm like 10 years ago. And how the heck is the guy behind the woman who died still alive. I mean look how the headrest is bent back about 90 degrees. I don't know how the guy can still even have this head attached. And i'm no going to say it because for everyone who also didn't say it goes without saying that this is terrible for the women and her family. As others said this is a board about the discussion of coasters and that's what people are going to talk about first.
  14. I love that boobs are only but curse words arn't.
  15. wow never saw this one coming but I have to say having been to Storyland for the first time last year that it is a perfect fit into the Kennywood Family. Storyland is a great little of charming place and is very well kept unlike some of the other Storyland type park i've been to (actually it's not so little really, probably the same size or more in terms land as Kennywood). It's just very out of the way but seemed to be doing very well for it's self the day I was there. Oh and the Polar Coaster while nothing to write home about was a neat little coaster on the side of a hill that used it very well. All and all it's nice to see Kennywood buy a new park seeing it's been over 10 years since that bought Lake Compounce.
  16. Dude Canobie is awesome, its one of those park you don't here much about (probably because of the location) but you when you do it's always positive. Beside from being underrated for the landscaping and overall atmosphere, they have an awesome lineup of rides with a kickass woodie. Really the only think I had to complain about last year was the ugly & cheap looking entrance that was way to small, but that has been fixed. Man does the new entrance look awesome and is such an improvement. I have to say though that frisbee is a little ugly as is the repaint of Cannonball's trains. I thought what they had before looked awesome and it didn't really look it even needed it. The orange handrails are okay but red looked better. It seems orange is a color that can look really good (like Talon) or bad (Kingda Ka's orange train, yellow would have been so much better). Also the one thing I just don't get about Canobie is why they won't change to fin brakes and be able to run two trains on the Cannonball (and for that matter SFNE's Thunderbolt too, must be a NE thing or something). The ride has always had a moderately long line when i've gone. I know they did a lot of work on the braking system a few years ago, I just don't get why they didn't convert to fin bakes. I mean they changed the turnaround, (while it's still good but it was better before), but they can't run two trains. Those issues are really minor though, and Canobie really does rock. Now all they need is that second woodie.
  17. This has happened every year for the past 10 years and every year they have opened. I think we all know it's just a matter of time before they suffer the same fate as other have. I'm glad I finally got there after all the years of wanting to.
  18. So what Nintendo ends up there own games more than 50% of the time, but pretty much everytime it has been more than worth it. Example; Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was delayed more than two years, but we all know how it turned out... Besides this isn't PS3, there are actually games out for it. but For me getting Wii has been like getting two systems since I never got a Cube and I actually have twice as many Cube games right now (plus they are cheap but still).
  19. First off I don't really buy the park's reasoning that a button was just pushed what about the skytower's paint job it looks as bad as Knott's. Plus it was just repainted a few year ago. Why am I not suprised, I miss Paramount Parks and this buyout has sucked from day ONE! I have I liked Cedar Fair parks i've been, but I do hate a lot of the way they do things. Also I loved Paramount Parks the way they were...
  20. none, but i'll probably done Metroid Fusion by the end of the weekend (although it has no percentage when you load so i'm not even sure how far along I am, but it feels like i'm at least 60% done). I never use cheat, EVER...if i'm stuck in a game like Zelda and I've just tried EVERYTHING i can think of i'll go onto a walkthru online, but that the last resolve. It's annoying cause it's usually something really stupid that makes me say, how did I miss that.
