  1. I guess i'm a coastermonster at 360. I don't mean to brag but hopefully i'll be a so called "coasterbater" by the end of the year because i'm hoping to be at around 550 by the end of the year. I think I might actually be really sick of riding coasters for a while come mid-august. Come to think of it back in 2003 when I rode 92 new credits that year, come mid-august I was a little tired of them. Although with only THREE new credits in 2004 and 26 in 2005, I see it as making up for a REALLY sucky 2004 coaster season and an okay 2005. In 2004 I didn't get go to any parks period most of the season and in 2005 I got to go to park all season long but mostly only local parks, which isn't that bad being Great Adventure & Dorney are my home parks and J2 is about 30 minutes away, but even Great Adventure get old after about 24 times (and the 2 and 1/2 hour drive round trip each time). Oh and what really suck is of the 29 new credits i've gotten since 2004, 10 were kiddie coaster credits and oh one SLC. Ya so you can say that this year i'm actually looking forward to my finals, because almost as soon as my finals end...the traveling begins and man it's going to be a crazy year. For example when I get back from the two week TPR trip basically i'm planning to get home, wash my clothes, crash, go to work at 7am the next day (and ya thank god for a really flexible job, in which I can leave to go on a trip basically whenever I want and it's also under the table). But anyways, then i'll be leaving directly from work to do parks in the Boston/NH/Nova Scotia area and see the Phillies play the Red Sox at Fenway Park!!! (I think that will actually be the true highlight of that trip, since most of the parks are not much more than credits). 2. ^ It's not really "a park" from what I gather. It's just a ride put on the top of a building in the middle of Tokyo.
  3. Stupid Maryland with three Jeepers (with Python Pits), I always forget which of the three I haven't been on. Thankfully I have it written down which ones i've been to. Either way i've been meaning to ride that last one for a while now. Maybe i'll do it on my way home from Volcano Mania. That and the Jeepers in West Nyack, NY and Sports Plus Entertainment Center credits which i've been wanted to do for the last few weekends but have been too busy with collage or just lazy. Ya know I sort of hate being a credit whore sometimes...lol
  4. Personally I don't consider it anywhere near "just a credit". I loved my rides on it and I didn't find it very rough at all back in 2003. In fact since i'll be passing the area in early july i'm going to stop by again just to ride Dragon Mountain a dozon or so times. With what happened with Sky Sceamer I doubt it will be open even if the park's target date is this year, but it will be fun to get on Sky Screamer since it wasn't open finished when I went.
  5. I thought it was a little rough, but not really...I didn't find the trains all that uncomfortable but they were annoying to get in and out of. They just felt and looked outdated compaired to the latest from B&M (remember they bascially designed the old Intamin Stannd up cars). I just felt like the pacing of the ride sucked and the removed car probably didn't help this. I'm hoping i'll have a better experance with Cobra this summer. I'm really surprised that all of the coasters from AstroWorld this didn't getthe torch. Oh...and i'm still pissed about the Schwarzkopts....and the entire closure but not much that can be done about it.
  6. I don't think many people know this but a Carousel only has horses and other animals. A Merry-Go-Round might or might not have horses but has non-living things.
  7. http://today.reuters.com/business/newsArticle.aspx?type=realEstateRestaurantsHotels&storyID=nN27282060 Can't say i'm not surprised that their closing the Oklahoma City offices, or the sale of Frontier City. The question is do they plan to sell it to someone else or pull another AstroWorld.
  8. Actually wasn't it said the EACH car on X weighs 5 tons? Wouldn't surprise me those puppies have a lot of steel in them.
  9. Let's hope there are big changes in the train design as the track design looks the same as X. Also Judging from the footers it looks as if the ride will be a double out and back. Does the park lack much land or somethings because it seems that for every new coaster they put in they have removed one. I've never really liked it when parks do that, and am glad World of Fun finally breaking there habbit of doing that (although i'm sure no one would miss boomerang much).
  10. Am I the only one who missed what the Yeti exactly does. I mean it seem like a lot of you know everything about it. But anyways this does look awesome and will really help boost AK's numbers. I mean hell I skipped it and i'm the biggest credit whore around. As much I want to ride this, i've decided to hold off on FL until Cypress gets it together and rebuilds Starliner. So damn them!
  11. I've gotta say both of the Goliaths look awesome. Both look as if they if probably be better than Nitro. I really can't decide which one to be more excited about though. I'm hoping i'll be able to get to both them this summer.
  12. To tell you the truth I feel that over the few years in more than one way, that what Mark plans to do is what Great Adventure has been doing. Although there are still many problems to be had and one is the employees. I have many friend that work(ed) at Great Adventure and i worked at Dorney Park and compaired to them they are treated like a no body. The pay for the lowest rank in rides is just below the highest rank in rides at Great Adventure. Plus we had a bonus at the end of the year but you had to stay on to your end date and not get canned. That the problem with Great Aventure the staffing is fine at the start but gets worse and worse. Then during Fright Fest they are always understaffed and the park is jammed pack (hell the last Saturday last the park was open had a all time record attendance of like 58,000)... I was at first thinking that red zone taking over was going to be bad but i'm now thinking maybe not.
  13. Storm Runner restrains are slight differant than what all the rockets in 2005 had. Intamin improved on them slightly but it makes big differance.
  14. The park most likely wanted it so Intamin put it on...That's what it usually comes down to when things don't really seem to make sense.
  15. I still think all this sucks! I'm betting a new major amusement park in Houston opens in less than 10 years. I wasn't looking looking to riding this in Houston and i'm even less looking forword to now that I know how rough it was. I'm actually hoping they don't open this for 2006 becuase then i'll miss it seeing i'm planing to hit The Great Escape on my way up to Canada...lol Although if they bust ass and get the permites done (I thinking they won't have much of a problem since it seem it's going in right at the front of the park and if I remember right they've had problems getting approval for stuff deeper into the park. If it doable to get it open for 2006.
  16. I guess i'm just not very opinionated and a lot of the time I just rather list the positive points and leave out most of the negative, but even I have my breaking point. Even with said I rode The Boss in August of 2003 and I thought it was an awesome ride and really wasn't all that rough. I will say the Gerstlauer train do suck and while the ride was still awesome that if it ride PTCs it would have easily ran the course a few seconds faster, not to mentin a more comfortable ride from the start. Either way an Intamin Drop Tower will be a great addition even if it was at the expense of the entire BS of AstroWorld being closed
  17. Why wouldn't you want to go back to SFSt.L It is one of the best Six Flags parks with a nice rounded selection of roller coasters and rides..
  18. I'd like to think SFMW does something with it but I doubt it...I either way I doubt it's the last we'll see of the last of the ride. I'm just damn glad I got to ride it in Norcal...even if it didn't turn out as good as I thought it was going to be it was still a very awesome ride!
  19. Okay that would make EIGHT Schwarzkopfs (Viper, 7 Picos, Bullet, BMRX, Double Loop, Greezed Lightnin' and Wildcat (if Willaim Grove is actually closing) that would be closing within a peroid of a year! that is FAR too many... Also i've heard this year might be Laser's last at Dorney Park or if it's not don't expect it to be around much longer. The control system has been giving the park problems so instead putting money into it they will give as another Hydra (i'm jumping up and down in my seat...right).... As least we should be getting one back this year Gillian's old City Jet in KS ...but that would still put us down to only 54 Schwarzkopf operating world wide (not counting the ones traveling the fair circuit), only 18 in america....sad Ride on Schwarzkopf!
  20. You know the more I think about this the more I get pissed, they took out two Schwarzkopfs to put in TWO damn vekomas, it's like twisting the dagger that's already been stuck in my heart! Also i'm really getting tired of parks being really stupid and taking out Schwarzkopfs. They should realize they are worth the money to maintain them...
  21. This does really does suck...Missing two really good Schwarzkopf by a year....
  22. We're all different I guess, because while I of course love airtime, it not a definite requirement, as is tracking or whatever. In the case with Boulder Dash my opinion of the ride was boosted just because of the setting the ride was built on. Like at the top of the lift hill you expect to be a 100 some feet in the air but your 10-15 and I enjoyed traveling up and down the mountain during the first section of the ride and speeding right next to all of the exposed rock. Also now that i've dipped back in to my memory (it's been since aug 01 that i've ridden it) one thing loved about it was it never really let up once. Which is something I really enjoy in a ride but I don't need it for it be on the top of the list. Some of my favorite rides have been ones that are just different...Take Dragon Mountain at Marainland. While i've never met an arrow that I felt wasn't rerideable (I also don't fit to well into their OTHRs (long upper body), I really enjoyed Dragon Mountain because of the fact that a huge fricken mountain was built around the rides and it travels right thru the middle of it. Although I have had many "I don't get it coasters" such as Magnum and The Beast. Although I finally got Magnum on my fourth trip to Cedar Point and The Beast on my second trip to Kings Island (both by riding at night actually). One thing I really try to avoid when going to any park or riding any coaster is to try not to compare it anything I’ve done in the past and just to decide if I am enjoying myself at the moment or not, that basically made me decide what I believe deserves to be on my top list. Maybe that's why i've never had a favorite park or coaster.
