The title of the thread referred to "THEME" parks, right? Some of you are being a little to liberal with that term don't you think? To make this really simple, what makes a great "theme" park is the whole experience from the time you enter the front gate to the time you exit the park. A great "theme" park immerses you in the overall "experience." To me, there are only about 12 "theme" parks in the US. The Magic Kingdom EPCOT Disney MGM Studios Animal Kingdom Disney's California Adventure Disneyland IOA Dollywood SDC Busch Gardens Africa Busch Gardens Europe Sea World Orlando Everything else is considered an "amusement" park in my books. That's not to say that any of them are necessarily bad at what they do, or what they provide. It's just that they don't immerse you in intricate theming throughout the park like the above examples do. And keep in mind that I even debated a little about Sea World Orlando. They would probably be given the honorable mention of the group. So what makes a great theme park? Theme. Plain and simple. And the ultimate example of theme is definitely, hands down, without an ounce of doubt....Tokyo Disney Sea. Although I've never stepped foot in the park itself, just seeing trip reports of that place has been enough to cement my opinion that theming can't be carried out any better.

This is another thing that I have found fairly amazing. Why were some of you so concerned that there wouldn't be a hill? Tell me one traditional type of full circuit coaster that didn't have a hill of some kind? Although early on I was thinking and hoping for a wingwalker, I'm still banking on an Aquatrax that's boosted several times along it's course. I would have stopped after the first sentence. Some pranks are funny, but there was no meat to that one. And Joey.....excellent point! The band always rocks!! No matter how good or bad they are, there's just something about hearing that drumline at a high school or college football game.

Bump. You guys aren't being fair to Griffon. He feels left out from all the pointless webcam-watching speculation about the new Aquatrax.

I think all of us who grew up in the early '80s with MTV sorta hear what you're saying. Does MTV actually play entire videos anymore though? Heck, I'll be honest, I literally haven't turned to that channel in maybe 5 years now! I think of it more as the Soap Network for teens. But seriously, it's creation and first 15 years or so did give us the opportunity to find some great bands that may have been lost in radioland had they not had the mainstream exposure....think U2, Nirvana, Poison (right, Ted? ) etc. I'll say this about Panic!, I've heard several of their songs, and I'm just not sure about them. For me, they fit into the same category as System of a Down in a sense that I like the lead singer's voice, they've got a unique style, there's some potential there, but what good is it if I only like about 25% of each song? I guess that's the best way I can put it.

^ Agreed. And for the record, I'll come to the Legend's defense. I rode it many times during Holiwood Nights this year, and had nothing to complain about. And for people who know me, and know my sometimes harsh criticisms of woodies, that means alot. Also, as Ted mentioned, the Koch family will never let that collection fall from glory. A "bad" year happens to the best of us.....if indeed you consider it "bad" in the first place. We should actually be very thankful that Paula and company at HW keep their finger on the pulse of the enthusiast community, and highly value the feedback from the various boards out there. This is why they continue to grow and produce quality rides at the park.

Wow, the bait was taken pretty quick on that one. I only hope my offshore fishing trip in october goes as well as that did.

It's Hard Rock Park's first beemer. It will be the very first thing constucted on-site. Project engineers have stated that it'll look funny being the only thing standing, but they wanted to get to work early on it to prevent a 150-page thread of speculation on TPR.
