2006 Golden Ticket Awards
BeemerBoy replied to coasterdave's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I say don't even pay any attention to these awards anymore. Seriously, when was the last time you were planning any park trip and said 'eh, the Golden Tickets didn't look favorably upon ____ park, maybe we should skip it this year'? 2006 Golden Ticket Awards
BeemerBoy replied to coasterdave's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I take these awards about as serious as I take the Oscars, the Emmy's, the American Music Awards, or ANY other award. It was said before, and should be said again....Mitch's is where it's at. -
Video TR: My Life Without TPR...
BeemerBoy replied to Ryan King's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No. But it was just my opinion. If someone has the guts to put something out there for the world to see, then they should be willing to accept criticism as well, right? He shouldn't assume that everyone will undoubtedly love everthing he does. I'm not immune to people hating my work. I realize there's many people in here who probably despise me, and I accept that. I'm open to the harshest criticism anyone wants to throw my way. I'm just simply saying that he's a big boy, and I'm sure he should realize by now that not everyone here is part of his flock, that's all. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way, but I do know I'm one of the few who's not afraid to voice my opinion regardless of the subject. Shouldn't that be respected as well? I don't think I was too far out of bounds. If it appeared so, then my apologies for any misconceptions. -

Someone please help. I need one of you to run over here and club me over the head with a bat for having actually wasted 15 seconds of my day. Yep, couldn't even make it past that point in the video. Furthermore, I'm ashamed for having actually clicked it in the first place. Scott "Not Every Word Needs To Be Capitalized" B. -

I got it. I got it. I got it!!! Maybe it's an aquatrax? -
Jay, as a lifetime golfer myself, I completely sympathize with you on this one, man. I hope it doesn't keep you sidelined forever! It's also nice to know I'm not the only one in here who plays.

Is this a coaster?

So is it safe to presume the Flying Turns will spark the same debate? -

Accident on Drop Zone freefall tower
BeemerBoy replied to ECZenith's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The name of the manufacturer escapes me, but I'm guessing this is the same type of tower that Lake Winnie and Beech Bend have, right? If so, yes, they are really fun, but they do concern me a bit. This accident certainly doesn't help matters any. -

^ Good point. Every coaster has to slow down at some point, whether it's onboard controls or not, right? Look at the brakeman on scenic railways. -
PTR: Carnival Cruise to the Bahamas
BeemerBoy replied to Hattuchili's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
^ I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I'm curious if that also depended on what time of year you were cruising with Disney? I know from what I heard about my brother's trips, they were packed with kids. But then again, they also cruised during spring break and over the summer. So I'm just curious how big a factor that plays? -
Congrats Milwaukee!! .........I think. msnbc.msn.com/id/14487553/?GT1=8404

I guess we should probably remind the kids in America that Ed is actually legal in the UK.....I think. Correct me if I'm wrong on that one. -

*How is Princess cruise line? I have heard both good and bad? To answer the question about Princess, I'll be honest and say that suprisingly, after living in Fort Lauderdale for 28 years before moving north, I never once took a cruise. BUT, I worked in the yachting industry for many years. And when you're lucky to use other people's multi-million dollar yachts on a daily basis, a big cruise line becomes insignificant. I did, however have many reputable friends in the industry who clued me in to the big cruise lines. All the feedback I ever got was most positive for Princess and Royal Caribbean. You really can't go wrong with either of the two. I've had friends and family who've taken cruises on Princess for both Alaskan and Caribbean routes, and they rave about the quality, accomodations, and value of the cruises they offer. I think the main difference between Princess and Royal is the marketing strategies. Royal obviously has the "Lust for Life" tv spots, and caters to the yuppie crowd, whereas Princess is just the opposite. Anyway, Soren.....GREAT pics of Atlantis!! Looks like you two had a great time there. It's a shame you didn't get to experience the water slides. They really are pretty good ones. You took one pic in particular that caught my eye: I was fortunate enough to deliver that boat (^) to Atlantis for the owner and stay in the slip I pointed out. I love spending other people's money. I think back then they also used to let guests who weren't staying at the hotel or marina use the pool area and slides for like $20 bucks a day, if I remember right. If anyone's visiting there, they may wanna ask about whether the hotel still offers that option. Thanks again for the awesome pics of South Florida and the islands. You need to visit there more often. I love seeing pics of home! -
Okay, I guess I can rest easier.....I think. You gotta admit, that pic was a bit stalker/pedophile/mass murderish though. On the bright side, congrats on graduating college. Anyway, while I'm in the thread, I might as well do something with this passport pic that went unused.

^^ And FoF isn't a fast inverting coaster with just lapbars? ^ Yeah, that's why I ask, because it would mean an altered design of the current aquatrax trains. Not a big deal. Easily doable, but I didn't know what the requirements would be. Given Intamin's accident record, I'd bet your 3rd nut too. -

Okay, on a serious note (I know, stop the press, right? ), let's discuss this aquatrax train/OTSR issue for a sec. I mentioned it earlier as a joke, but it really does bring up an interesting question. With FoF @ PKI operating without OTSRs, does that mean that they would not be required for this inverting aquatrax? Just a thought.
