Well, you're certainly not doing much to dispell any "fanboy" reputation...at least that's for sure. As far as B&B's Hurricane/Roaring Tiger (2 credits? ) blowing away any of the Dark Continent's offerings at the time.....um, a woodie against two steel coasters? I'm not quite sure I see justification for any real comparisons, but eh, whatever. And although I did like B&B's atmosphere, layout, and cleanliness, how was the Dark Continent lacking in any of those categories? If anything, I thought they both represented themselves very well for what they were. I mean, seriously, we're talking about a park themed to traditional American boardwalk parks and the game of baseball, as compared to an African Safari-themed zoo/thrill park. Where's the comparison? Oh well. Don't get me wrong, I loved B&B, and even Circus World before that. Heck, it was great during spring training to ride a coaster, then walk across the boardwalk to catch the Royals playing. I miss that aspect alot. Scott "sorry to stray from CG discussion..just amazed that B&B resurfaced" B. -

I always thought that under the right owenership, Cypress Gardens could grow to become more like Bonfante. My only visit to CG was in the early '80s when there was literally nothing there but beautiful gardens, a boat ride, water ski show, some small kiddie flats, and a bunch of women dressed in colorful "southern belle-type" outfits. Of course, I've only seen limited pictures of Bonfante, but CG had the foundation to be very similiar, or so I would think. Westcoasters, am I on the right track there? -

Thanks for the pics. This pretty much answered my question about whether the park was worth the admission price for a credit run. Umm, no thanks. By the looks of it, I guess we should get ACE on the scene and have them start finding a new home for the wood, huh? It's always amazed me how long this park has continued to keep it's gates open, considering it's sandwiched between the giants of central Florida. Personally, I'm really starting to hear the clock ticking though....unfortunately. Crazy as it might sound to many of you out there, this place is pretty much a Florida landmark of sorts. Glad you got the free credits. Those are always the best kind. -

I'd thank Cedar Point for that. If they didn't want people to consider it a launch, then surely a traditional (and reliable) chain, or cable lift would've been used here. -
^ Well, a "good job" would've been giving him the truck without the mess they created. But, it's nice to see the public rallied behind him and forced the correct conclusion to the story.

^ If that works for you. It surely didn't help the conference's image any. I'm dying to hear this theory. Scott "Joe, I'll get your avatar ready for 10/28" B.

"Compact Layout??!!?" What about this ride is a "compact layout?!?!!?" "Staggered launches?" LaunchES????? Like as in Plural??? Um, Carole, last I checked...there is only ONE launch! Sometimes it just amazes me how people can sign up for that club with how ridiculous they sound. --Robb "I'm actually shocked CP printed that statement!" Alvey A couple thoughts here. Okay, the whole "compact layout" thing is off the mark, but considering the trains are propelled upward by LSMs, would it not be considered a launch? Sure, it's not neck-breaking speed, but technically it's being pushed, not "lifted" up the "lift hill," no? And secondly, I'm sort of confused that many people are making a big deal about the 95 degree aspect of the drop. I'm sure it will lift you out of your seat momentarily, but cmon folks, it's only just over 100 ft! The drop is over practically before it begins. This "beyond vertical" aspect won't compete with Mystery Mine, or even Griffon's 90 degree, 200ft. drop. But, of course, I'm probably wrong. Personally, I'm much more thrilled about the low-level, fast paced "sidewindin'" going on here. -
And what were those bowl games? The Tampax Bowl, The Kleenex Bowl, The Toilet Bowl, etc.? Cmon Joe, to Elite programs like the ones we're generally talking about here, there's only one bowl that matters....whichever is hosting the championship. To the majority of CFB fans, there's the 4 BCS bowls, and then there's everyone else who's just happy to be invited to a bowl. And remember, the ACC's representative for a BCS bowl last year was a 4 loss team...just due to the system. And yes, the BIG 12 is only slighty above the PAC-10, which is why I propose taking the biggest names of each, and starting the "Big West."

NEWS - Myrtle Beach Pavillion to close

Well, for those interested, I figured this was as good a place as any to post it. The last ride will be Sept. 30th. http://www.mbpavilion.com/ -
Well, I can't particularly argue the ACC being weak recently, but considering the PAC-10 strong is like saying Notre Dame deserves it's own major network. Bogus. USC dominates the PAC-10. Joey, tell me one PAC-10 team over the past few seasons (during your run) that you were honestly worried about playing. You can't tell me you were actually concerned about losing to Oregon, Cal (although they put up a fight), Stanford, UCLA, Arizona, etc. Cmon now, I know you're proud of your team, and you'd like to think they had a challenging schedule, but face it, there's no reason to defend the PAC-10. It's no different than when Miami dominated the Big Least. The fact remained, that they'd beat anyone from any conference in their dominant years, but we never considered the Big Least strong by any means. And after living in the heart of SEC country, I can honestly say I have a greater respect for this conference. It is, without a doubt, the toughest conference to play in. Year in, year out, they are the most competitive conference out there. If you go undefeated in the SEC, you really are worthy of a shot at the title...which is why it's unbelievable how Auburn got screwed a couple years ago. EDIT: Okay, here's my suggestion. Take Texas, USC, UCLA, Oklahoma, OSU, CAL, Oregon, WSU, UW, ASU, Nebraska, and K-State and call it the Big West. Let the rest fend for themselves.

Well done, CP. Well done.....of course, if you can avoid the downtime to keep it open. I'll address the aquatrax talk briefly. To all the fanboys we jousted with over the final 200+ pages or so of the "official" thread, none of us really even cared what it would be.....you missed a serious amount of sarcasm, but we still love ya anyway. As far as MAV goes (can I claim first official abbreviation? ), I actually love the design. I guess someone finally realized that biggest is not always baddest. I also think the barrel roll between the boulders is currently very underestimated by many folks out there, much like the front end seats of Griffon. I think the only thing wrong with that element is that it's not facing the public viewing area.....it would've been nice to photograph that coming head-on at you. Oh well, very minor complaint. All in all, until the Intamin shake settles in, Maverick may have finally given me good enough reason to go back to the point next year. -

Flamingos cool, but how do you fit Flamingos into a western theme? I guess the same way you pass off a lush tropical oasis-like section with shooting fountain as "western," right? Eh, at least it looks nice. -

I just spoke with the President of Ohio. He says due to the fact that there is a fountain involved in the layout, it is still an Aquatrax. So there you have it. -
Please explain. And I'm not the least bit surprised that 1/3 of the top 15 are from Florida. Btw, Florida is not the "deep south."

^ Yeah, usually just a 2 minute minor, but I've never tried to hide my intentions when slashing. I like to get my money's worth, and for that, I always ended up with the 5 minute variety. And yeah, I don't think we're allowed to agree on anything. You definitely deserve a game misconduct for that! If it happens again, we'll just have to drop the gloves and go Domi-Probert style. CCM, Easton. Eh, as long as it's not a Nike or Reebok product.

Nice job, Jeff. You actually made Tomb Raider look like a fun ride. And that's saying alot since I wouldn't be caught dead on any flat that could make me sick. Also, how far in advance do I need to place a reservation in order to use Aidan for that credit? Glad you guys got to enjoy the holiday there.
