Julie's Alabama Credit Whoring Adventure
BeemerBoy replied to USRoadTripper's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Julie, I think the thing that did it for me was just a complete lack of character. It's sort of like Wild Adventure's twin brother. Although we didn't experience any horrid bathrooms on our visit, the place just felt like a blah wasteland with one great coaster. I will say that, along with the aforementioned WA, at least the place was kept fairly clean. I can certainly appreciate that. But otherwise, I think going there gave me the feeling a lot of people have about Dorney these days......meh. One final, unfortunate but true thought. I think the general clientele has alot to do with our distaste for the place, much like a certain SF park in the "Garden State." There was more trash riding Rampage, than resting in the garbage cans if you know what I mean. -
Some questions about SFGadv....
BeemerBoy replied to canada's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I was told once that the reason KK shuts down at the first sign of rain was due to it's incredibly high speeds. The reasoning is this...rain drops, no matter how big or small can be quite painful at 128mph. Not sure how much truth there is to this theory, but it sounds logical. -
^^ No problem. Glad to see someone else knows of it. Did you go to college in Florida, or was she from Florida? ^ The Kentucky thing has me curious. When do you remember seeing it? 80's, 90's or recently? The mention of bruises also make me wonder a bit if what you saw was the same thing as this. I know for certain that after probably 100+ rides on Kick Boodie over the years, I never once walked off with a bruise of any kind. I just don't see how it's possible. Maybe once on an odd occasion, but it really didn't allow you to get beat up as suggested. Thanks for the response though. I appreciate it in my neverending search to get one more ride on it.

The longest we've ever gone to specifically ride coasters was about a 9 hour drive to Cedar Point for CoasterMania a few years ago. Nothing is really too far for us, I guess. But usually when we plan a trip, we try to make it involve much more than just coasters. Scott "it's really more about too expensive than too far" B.

AA goes one step further and paints their concrete. Take that CF! I can't seem to remember the blue concrete when we were there a couple years ago. Of course, then again, I've tried real hard to forget everything about that place too. Well, all except for Rampage. As always, nice report Julie. -

Ted, I think it's our Joe Fan Club membership cards. Score!! I'm just afraid of how much more random your TRs can get. For the good of all of us here, please keep the camera away from the bathroom, Joe. -
Amen. My wife can't even walk through the neighborhood anymore without fending off some stupid neighbor's dog.

WDW 2007 Rates and Packages are out

It appears I did. And the attack was directed towards Disney primarily because: A. They are the market leader. B. That's where the thread started. Now I'm officially done with this one. Scott "take the time to read it all before you call me out, thanks" B. -
Finally, someone else who likes this place. For years, I thought I was the only one!! It's not my favorite, but it's darn good. My favorite theme park restaurant is Liberty Tree Tavern @ the Magic Kingdom (WDW), unless Margaritaville at City Walk (Universal Orlando) counts. If you go to Holiday World, you have to have the fudge. EDIT: the frozen chocolate covered bananas at WDW!!

Makes perfect sense to me. Heck, if I was easily offended by half of the stuff you guys post, I wouldn't have stuck around for 700+ posts, right? Usually I do a pretty good job of turning my head and ignoring what I feel is ignorance, and I'm not expecting anyone to bend 100% to my beliefs either. It was simply an opinion I couldn't hold back on this particular subject. Glad we're pretty much on the same page. Scott "some things just tell alot about someone, I guess" B. -

Robb, I think the point that is lost on all of this is that the targets of these jokes are real people with real faces that are being bashed in an open public forum. I think all of us in here respond well to the ribbing we give each other. All of us understand we mean nothing by it when we kidd with each other (ex: your patch jacket thread). And when you eluded to Family Guy, or South Park, you gotta realize that the targets of those jokes are generally celebrities, or simple generalizations of people rather than specific individuals. And even when a person's likeness is used for public broadcast, that said individual normally has to give prior persmission for their image to be used (aside from the obvious ways cartoons use a person's likeness). Of course there's no need to dig deeper here and get down to brass tacks, but it's just a matter of respect towards people we don't know personally. I'm just as guilty of secretly thinking disrepectful thoughts occasionally when I know I shouldn't. I'm not perfect by any means, but I'd never even think to take someone's picture without their consent and then proceed to tear them down in an open public forum. If anything, it's simply rude. Like pkdcoaster mentioned, you never know who may be related to that person. Would you or anyone else not feel bad if you find out that the person you displayed was a relative of a loyal TPR member? I won't drag this on. No matter how much I disagree with someone in here, I never want to resort to a flame war. I just felt it was a bit out of bounds, and unfair to photograph and display any unknowing park patrons, you know? I'll let it go now. No worries. Scott "maybe I'm wrong, but I can live with that" B. -

And let me also follow by saying that I actually enjoy Derek's TRs. He takes good pics of places I may never get to see, and judging by the number of views each one gets, I'm not alone on that sentiment. So again, is it too much to ask that he shows a little respect for anonymous park goers? -

^ Nicole, people who know me, know that I can indeed. But pkdcoaster makes a valid point, and it's one that I back 100%. Would you like it if we targeted everyone you know who had a flaw, and ripped them for the world to see? All we're asking for is a little decency and respect. Is that too much to ask for? I know full well that I'm not a favorite of most in here, and that's fine with me, but a forum is for opinions, right? Scott "let the blackballing commence" B. -

^ Oh so true. Seriously guys, posting pics of anonymous "overweight" park patrons and then mocking them is pretty much 5th grade material. For all you know, that could actually be a fellow TPR member's relative your publicly making fun of. Kinda sad if you ask me. And the whole "oh, look, a whale must've escaped the tank gag" is getting kind of lame too. Maybe this isn't my place to say, and perhaps I'll be looked down on because I'm not part of the inner sanctum of TPR originals, but save that childish behaviour for off camera situations. I mean, if it's fair game to make fun of anyone on here, then I say everyone should be fair game. I probably wouldn't resort to bringing myself to that level, but God knows, I, like many on here, could unload on certain members if given the opportunity. Scott "what happened to common respect and decency?" B. -

I learned several things from this batch of pics. 1. I'd really like to ride a Scenic Railway once. 2. The pics once again prove that foreign dark rides can, and will be themed to ANYTHING. 3. People still wear jean shorts. -

^^ Okay chief, you keep paying the inflated prices and enjoy yourself. I'll be looking for the TRs. ^ Joe, you're right. It's a matter of perception. To me, it's overpriced. End of story. But no hard feelings to anyone who can still afford it. Scott "I will call BS on it then because not all of us have an ER salary" B.
