Photo TR: Hanno's start to the 2009 coaster season
Nosferatu replied to Hhappy's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Nice update. It was great seeing pictures from the park. buI was there when I was about 12 years, but I don't remember much about it. But when seeing the picture I remember the playground, especially that wheel. That was a lot of fun back then. Didn't really go on that many rides. I didn't have the nerve to go on the most scary water slides back then I'm glad they finally got another coaster and I'm looking forward to going back some day! -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
Nosferatu replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
We don't know the KD coaster will have a splashdown. The document talked about some stormwater runoffs etc, but that doesn't have to have any connection with a splashdown. For Carowinds I would guess they are getting the rumoured hyper. Kings Dominion being the only paramount park without a new coaster will probably get a GCi or something My two cents.. -

Too bad they couldn't afford the initial concept. Imagine this ride with that level of themeing! I guess B&M wasn't interested in doing it due to the launch! Where you a part of the theme working on this? -

I'm anxious to see that launch speed of that Premier coaster. With those large turns it should have quite a high speed. It also seems to be pretty long, especially when you compare those (presumably) final hills with the first. (Unless there is some heavy braking midway). It's diffucilt to get a good sense of the Maurer coaster, but judging from what I've heard it should be pretty spectacular. The size of that central building is just huge. Just look at the banner! I'm looking forward to seeing more Seems like I might have to go to the Emirates in a few years -
A few pictures of fireball: http://thegravitygroup.com/gravitycast/lets-roll/ Also if you look in the background here you'll see that the dive machine seems almost complete, except for the first drop. And if you look here you can see the mega lite, that seems to be close to completion too Still seems like they got a very long way to go on the rest of the park though!

Universal Studios Singapore Discussion Thread
Nosferatu replied to Adriel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not sure about King Kong or Tokyo Drift, but it looks like Mummy, Galactica, and Hulk are coasters. Yeah I've seen that list. The problem is that most of those attractions haven't been confirmed, and many are speculations. They have said it will have 24 attractions, 18 who are unique to Singapore And we know for a fact that the model isn't accurate, since among others they have added Battlestar Galactica since. Also Spiderman has been exchanged for Transformers. The big question is: We know they added Battlestar Galactica late in the process. But did it replace Hulk or was it an addition? -

Nice find! They still got some work to do I'm moving to Singapore in about three months, so I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this park The big question is how many coasters there will be? Mummy and Galatica, or one more? There hasn't been any sort of press release, so we don't know yet! -

TPR's Ever Evolving Park Index
Nosferatu replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seems to have been a mix up in the park index: When going ot Wallygator park in the park index, and clicking a TR fomr TPR's 2005 Europe trip it goes to a TR from Wallibi Lorrain! And I don't think Wallibi Lorrain has its own page. -
Liseberg Discussion Thread
Nosferatu replied to viking86's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
LiseBerg is such and amazing park. Those pictures reminded me it's been far too long since I've been there (propbably 06 or something) I need to get something done about that Rabalder looks like it fits well. We never say no to a new credit -
Planned Trips This Summer
Nosferatu replied to Homeboy23's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't have anything planned for the summer, but I'm moving to Singapore in July, so I hope to be able to visit some of the Asian parks later this year. Airline tickets is pretty cheap from Singapore, so at least Hong Kong should be a good possibility! -
I seriously doubt Cedar Fair is buying two B&M's in the same year. Those are very expensive, and with the economy and all.. Back in 2007, before Behemoth it was rumored that Cedar Fair had struck three hyper deal with B&M, so I assume the hyper is going to a cedar Fair park. For the other, my guess is Asia. Lot of possible parks there, maybe even some we haven't heard about. The hyper for Carowinds has been rumoured a long time, and seems more probably than KD. Maybe KD is getting a GCI woodie? Cedar Fair was supposed to buy three of those too...

Tele2 Insane, Intamin ZacSpin for Gröna Lund
Nosferatu replied to Loefet's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seems like the first section is more of a drop coaster, and the focus is on slowly dropping you vertical toward the water! Should still be a cool experience though. And judging from Kirnu the last hill should be pretty good! -
Expoland to close for good.
Nosferatu replied to Loefet's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
yup. it's on rcdb too: http://rcdb.com/pd327.htm Should be a great coaster for the park. I can imagine such a ride will have a huge impact! And who knows, if it is a success it could inspire other French parks to start building more coasters -
If you go to their website, and click on the section with the mega lite they have a video of Thorpe Parks Collosus, advertising 10 inversions! The picture is of Piraten though, so at least they got it partly right! Fireball looks awesome. Isn't there anyway you can ask Martin & Vleminckx to shift their camera a little bit to the right next time Hopefully I'll be able to go to Shanghai this autumn or next spring.

This thread is turning into a rumour/wishful thinking thread Alton Towers: This doesn't fit with the lay out we've seen at all, and I highly doubt their new coaster is a B&M. SFA - If they where to build a B&M for 2009 they would cedar point - Unlikely. If it was for 09 it is way to late, and it is a bit early for 2010. Maverick pieces started showing up in june or something? Carowinds - Possible, but the rumours say hyper. ( the rumours before Behemoth said that Cedar Fair had made a three hypers deal with B&M) My best bet is Asia. Either a happy valley or something else in China, or Universal Studios Singapore. Universal Studios Singapore is supposed to open in 2010. That's just about 14-18 months to finish a park. If we look at IOA the coasters need to be done quite some time before opening in order to get the theming done etc. That means the coasters should probably be done track wise sometime this fall or before Christmas at the latest. Installation of a B&M takes about a month or two, plus ground work. Also they need probably more than a month to ship the track from Ohio to Singapore. If the plant is done with this project in a month or two, the timetable fits quite well. This is more plausible than some of the other suggestions.

Most memorable coaster moment of 2008?
Nosferatu replied to TheHulk's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Getting 10 rides on Piraten in a row without leaving our seats was a highlight! There where no one else there, and it was like that the whole day. Basically a whole day of super ERS -

Very nice trip report! Rode Piraten in August, and it is an amazing ride. It even placed before SROS at my list (rode SROS for the first time this year, and was slightly disappointed). It's good you're coming to Scandinavia next year for your yearly dose of Intamin mega-lite goodness -

Great Update Shane. Seeing as you say you interview Mr. Stengel I assume you where the one that wrote the article about Alpenflug in First Drop about a year ago It was a very interesting story, both then and now and I would love to hear more like it Looking forward to the rest!
