Did Summers/Dinn make ANY good coasters?
Nosferatu replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Boulder Dash did get some major work done a couple of seasons ago by GCI, and I think most of the track was replaced. They even reprofiled parts of the ride! Apparently the difference before and after the work was enormous! Edit: Too slow... -
TPR's overall experience in China...
Nosferatu replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I haven't been there on a tpr trip, but I visited both Hong Kong and China this summer. Hong Kong and China feels like two separate worlds. In the deal between china and great britain there are some rules that Hong kong will have a certain degree of self control for the next 100 yars. In many cases they operate as different entities. For instance they got totally separate visas, and you need a visa to go from Hong kong to mainland China. Also the economic structure is pretty different, although Shanghai is catching up with Hong Kong. I went to both Hong Kong and China this year, and I would totally recomend going. I really enjoyed both, and especially Hong kong and Shanghai is great cities! -
Happy Valley Shanghai to Expand
Nosferatu replied to ericm95's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seems like a good move! Now if they also could improve their operations (ride-wise) this could become a great park. When I was there this summer, about one third of the rides were closed (including the dive machine), and many of those that was open didn't open until one or two a clock. (the park closed at five)! -
List the parks you have visited in 2010
Nosferatu replied to Groteslurf's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Although I've only been to three parks this year, the quality of those parks was pretty good: Sega Republic - Dubai Happy Valley Shanghai Walibi World I have been travelling a lot this year, but not in coster teritory (Bhutan and Kashmir doesn't have too many coasters ) -

It hasn't been confirmed yet, but First Drop reported it was for the expansion of Ocean Park in Hong Kong! -

Seems like B&M don't produce track in Europe anymore. Maybe they have centralized so all track manufacturing happens in Ohio. -
Mystery USA GCI Project?

http://greatcoastersinterns.com/?page_id=125 Check out the third picture. Seems plausbile that it is for the workshop expansion. -
That is their reason for much of the building lately. The oil will run out, and they are trying to build up themselves as a major financial and tourist hub before that happen. They are trying to become the major financial player, with a nice position between Tokyo/Hong Kong/Singapore and London/Frankfurt.

I would guess the coasters in North korea is among the rarest in the world. -

The track look a bit small for a Dive Machine. The Dive Machine track is 1.8m across, while the normal track is 1.2, so the difference is pretty big. But it is kind of hard judging the size by that pic, so maybe. It's gonna be really interesting to follow the construction! -

Nosferatu replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My guess is they they had to choose between opening it now, or finishing all the other stuff, and they wanted to get it open asap. Probably (hopefully) it will be finished in the off-season! -
Ferrari World Discussion Thread
Nosferatu replied to Captain Jack's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but according to this it might seem like Ferrari World will have a dark ride, similar in system to DarKastle and Spiderman! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Curse_of_DarKastle (under technology) Of course, as we all know, if its on Wikipedia, then it has to be true -

Great TR. I was in Walibi World before it became Six Flags, and I remember that flume ride. My cousin wanted to sit in the back seat, because you got least wet there according to him. We were in for a surprise Looking forward to the rest! -

Great trip report. I'm going to Duabi in about a month, and this made me really look forward to it. Really looking forward to seeing the Burj Khalifa. Any other recommendations on what to do? We're considering going on a dessert tour with landrovers. -

Nosferatu replied to jimths08's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Well that is an really awesome camera compared to its price! But if you get the money, I can really recommend buying a better one I recently bought a D90, and it is awesome. Its incredibly fast, and I haven't regretted it a bit. Still, it cost quite a lot (I bought it a bit cheaper here in Singapore). And the editing turned out pretty good in those shots. I like the colors in most of them Anyways, its not the camera but the photographer that influence the quality the most Great pictures, looking forward to your next report! -

But as the main manufacturer and the ones in charge of the project, you have the responsibility that the subcontractors you choose deliver a product within the product specifications that is safe. It's like when there is found to be something wrong with a car. People then go to the car manufacturer and complain. And they can't say: " A subcontractor designed that part, so you can't blame us". As the main manufacturer they have the final responsibility of making sure that the product is safe. And choosing the right subcontractors is one important part of that. When doing maintenance like this they have checklist and procedures to to through so they don't "miss" some bolts. -

Carowinds Discussion Thread
Nosferatu replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The coaster looks amazing. And I think the area around looks very good! But do they really need barbed wire at the top of those fences by the station? Shouldn't the fence be enough? Is it normal fro Carrowinds to be this deserted at this time of year? Remember seeing pics from the opening of diamondback last year, and the que was enormous! -

That is really bad.I leave Singapore on the 27th of april, and I'm just hoping it will reopen before then. Hopefully they will get it sorted out quickly, but I would guess this have left a permanent scratch in Vekoma's safety record. Maybe USS should have gone with the Hulk clone as in the first concept art! -

Nice trip report! I can't believe your complaining about this! This just proved that they aren't as paranoid as some of the american parks, which is a good thing in my opinion! And the flights are cheaper if you fly AirAsia or Tiger (or if you work at the airline and get discounted as you ) -
