  1. One important thing about this incident that a lot of people seem to forget is that everything worked as it should. The anti rollback caught the train, the riders where evacuated and everyone was happy (except those that didn't get to tide). Anyway, sometime cable breaks do happen. It's very difficult to avoid it, and sometimes it can be hard to detect even in an inspection. But it's important to make system that lessen the consequenses when it do happens. I also find it kind of assuming how a bunch of teenagers at a internett discussion board start telling a coaster company full of great engineers what they should do. If there is a problem on Intamins part, my guess is they are aware of it and working on a solution. If this is a problem with the parks buying 3rd party cables, then I guess Intamin is pretty pissed. I also think it is kind of unfair on Intamin. A lot of people say B&M's are boring, and prefer Intamin because they keep pushing the boundaries. B&M has never had a chain break, but then again B&M seldom goes outside the box. Intamin on the other hand always pushes the envelope, and that means sometimes thing will not work as planned. It's a natural consequence of always being on the edge.
  2. Multiply heartlines? There is no thing. The track can only rotate around one point at a time
  3. wow This looks amazing. I'm suddenly way more excited for the park after this announcement. The theming looks amazing, and those attractions should be great. Really looking forward to opening now
  4. This is probably a great idea. It helps Six Flags build their brand, it probably gives them a nice little stream of cash due to licensing fee etc, it lets them build a new park and they're not the ones that take the risk and put up the cash. It worked pretty well for Tokyo Disney, didn't it This way the can increase the size of the brand, without doing the same mistake as the last management! It's also really interesting to see a major park being built in Africa. Hopefully this can start something and maybe we will see more parks starting to pop up!
  5. The reason for the added cost of this compared to PP might also be because of the location. I can imagine that putting it on Millenium Island might prove some problems with regards to foundation work. I'm guessing this ride has to be connected to bedrock or have some really deep foundations, and with the island site this might be more difficult? Seeing as CP is on a peninsula this might maybe be a problem for the whole park, increasing costs?
  6. Nice TR. I'm living in Singapore, and seeing as tickets from Singapore to Shanghai is pretty cheap I'm really considering going there. Will probably wait till all the rides are open though!
  7. GCi + Efteling's standard of Theming + duelling = Awesome. I don't think it's really fair judging this ride by lightning Racer. That ride is 9 years old, and see how far GCI coasters has evolved since then. Judging by their latest efforts, this is probably going to be incredible. Imagine something like a duelling El Toro
  8. I was out on Sentosa yesterday, and I must say the construction site is quite breathtaking. Apart from the amusement park there is a lot of other things being constructed (some hotels, a casino and a lot of other stuff) There is no way the pictures can show how huge the construction site is. And they are working 24 hours a day! The coaster looked very spectacular. I'm really looking forward to trying it whenever they open, and the rest of the park looks just as spectacular! What people probably don't understand is how good the location is. They got more than 4 million people living within an hour. It's just a small bus ride outside downtown. It's kind of like building an amusement park on an island right outside Manhattan! I expect some huge crowds
  9. #4 is the one A lot of great entries if I may say so. Compared to many other photography contests there was an amazing turnout. Probably has to do something with the voting though. With so many pics it is impossible to choose one. An elimination system would probably been best!
  10. My entry, a shot of Great Bear. It was difficult choosing one, but i finally landed on this one Not my favorite coaster, but it gave some fine photomoments!
  11. If this is going to be a vertical lift as some suggest, the tower has to be a lot thicker than those lift hill pieces. You can't have such a thin 300ft tall freestandig tower with a coaster train travelling up and down along it. If it really was the foundation peace for such a large lift it would be a lot bigger.
  12. According to themselves they got less than 6 months! Going to Singapore in three weeks. Looking forward to seeing more of this!
  13. You register your park visits I use a spreadsheet too in order to keep some more information besides what coasterfanatics has. I like to know how many times I rode a certain coaster on each visit etc!
  14. 1. El Toro (Plohn) because it looks amazing, and it is kind of a depature from the usual GCI. 2. T- Express because I've been on the other three Intamin PnP's, and they're all amazing. El Toro + Balder = Heaven!
  15. I really doubt this is a Giga or terra coaster. The cost of building such a ride is enormous and with the current economic climate.. It could happend, but I think something like the F1 coaster is more likely. That one would need a pretty big area too! At least the big radi on the turns suggest a fast ride..
  16. Nice uppdate. I visited Djurs Sommerland last year, and Piraten was awesome. The park was almost deserted during our visit. I never saw a full train in Piraten, and we had rerides in plenty! Awesome park
  17. I really doubt we will see a Hulk clone, considering we haven't seen anything pointing towards something like that. Anyway, I got a newsletter from Resort World today: Six months? Opening is said to be early 2010, so maybe they mean January or February? Maybe it is time until the first hotel opens? I haven't seen or heard anything about Battlestar Galactica (the show), but isn't the color scheme a bit light for a Sci-Fi series? I imagined something darker as that drawing shows.
  18. I don't really think we'll be seeing anything that high from B&M. First of all they tend to stick to what they know, and building that high brings up a lot of factors. Also I think they said sometime that they never would go above 290 feet. And imagine the costs of such a coaster. Beemers are already some of the most expensive coasters around
  19. Great TR. This really gave me a good impression of the park Seeing how crammed it is it got me thinking what other parks that have that crammed attractions everywhere feel. Tivoli Gardens have it in some sections, and I think Blackpool Pleasure Beach also falls into this category. Any else?
  20. Could have told him it was a Hapag Lloyd container without google I have an alternative plan as to finding out where this is going though. What if we wait until yellow B&M track starts appearing at a park somewhere. Then we can look at the code at the container the track arrived in, use their website and find out where it was heading
  21. I've been doing something similar over the past year: http://tinyurl.com/r37wp6 Don't be alarmed by the color coding. It's just to try and separate the credit stops from the major parks in each region. Green is a big park, red is more of a credit stop! If you see something wrong, or parks that should be there, tell me! Some regions like Scandinavia should contain about every park! Hopefully it will help someone planning their trips, just like it has helped me
  22. I wasn't to impressed with SROS (NE), so I voted Nitro! Amazing ride. The airtime is fantastic!
  23. This is too bad. By my count it is only 5 Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loops still operating! For anyone interested, I've made a map of Schwarzkopf coasters still in operation (except for wilcats, jumbo jets etc..) http://tinyurl.com/qqld9p The list is really starting to grow short:( Hopefully some of those who have been closed the last few years will find a new home!
  24. It's not the same as the one at Nick's Universe. As Shockwave pointed out it is the same as Rage. I think the third one has been sold to a park in Italy, although I cant remember which at the moment!
