Ouimet out Jan 1 as Cedar Fair CEO. I was never impressed with him. I never saw him at the park like Kinzel. Never made an appearance at Coastermania either. In my opinion - no big loss. Eh, I still contend that the holding brake is the dive coaster's biggest selling point. That's the thing that people see from the midway and get hyped up / freaked out about. If simply having a vertical drop that's better than Valravn's drop took away a ride's selling point nobody would have ever cared about Valravn at all since Dragster has a vertical drop that's basically twice the height. Honestly if you have a fear of heights (as many people do), Valravn might be the most terrifying ride in the park since you hang on the restraints looking straight down a 200+ foot drop. These things don't scare enthusiasts so I think we forget how terrifying something like that is to a large percentage of the population. We were hanging out in the Sheikra area for Howl O Scream last night and people in the queue and near the ride were freaking out telling their friends how scared it was being held at the top. The thing about Valravn I don't like is it doesn't really stop at the top like Sheikra and Griffen. Both completely stop at the top for 3 seconds... It does have the best view with Sheikra coming in a close second.

So I was looking at renewing and this is the deal was of interest to me because I am going down for my birthday in late Oct and bringing some people with me. However it doesn't make logical sense because I would probably end up using the FL+ on Sunday rather than Friday night when my bring-a-friend(s) would also be with me without a FL+ so that would be pointless. Does the deal change after the end of the season or is this the best offer we're going to get? CG This free FL+ is good until the end of this year's operating season.

Is that like only the first parking lot section filled? spent about 5-6 hours at the park today. pretty dead. most all coasters were running one train. TC and Yolo had two. Even so, most everything was like a 1 train wait, if not walk on. parking was about a one full lot, and one school bus. hung out with x2isawesome and bumped into coasternut. i've only been on one justice league at st louis. the sfmm seemed far far better. the having to pour your drink cup out before going into the building is understandable, but i think they should figure something out for the bottles. anyway, i enjoyed it. redeemed my dining pass and got my new bottle. this year, and they told me before they did it, when you add the 2018 dining plan, it cancels out the 2017. last year, and the year before, i was able to use both. so i had access to double the food. not a huge deal, but friends had benefited from that in the past. rode x2 for the first time in years. still feel the pounding the back of my head took on the final raven turn. anyway, great time to go now. everything had no line except for superman which was about 3/4 of the tunnel. Good to see you too JT. Yes, only 1 parking lot full. Little wait on any coasters. I was on Rev sitting in my seat. They asked us to get off, so I did. 2 maintenance guys were looking at the second train off line. They never came to the station for anything. Not sure what that was all about. I was the last one to leave the station. Very strange...

^^^^ I was at the park yesterday - Sunday. It was the busiest days I've ever spent there. If I wasn't there with a friend, I too would've left real early. I spoke with one of the rideops, and she said attendance was over 55,000. The entire parking lot was full. They were parking on the grass, and the parking area way out past the marina towards the causeway. They even stopped selling fast lane bracelets since there were too many out there already. I've never seen the price for fast lane + at $149.00.

I don't know if he will but one of my friends spoke to him yesterday and apparently Henry thinks he won't like the ride. Maybe he will become Blue Streak Henry? I spoke with Henry yesterday at dinner too at the Burrito place back there. He seemed excited about Sven. I like that abbreviation better than SteVen. He's such a nice guy. He even gave me an autographed copy of the article on him, including his annual ride count to the end for a total of 16,174. I don't know how he did it! Hey Blue Streak is my ride!

The Midway (Thrill Ville/the rides) is no longer located to the right of Kentucky Kingdom's entrance. It's now smack-dab in the main parking lot in front of Kentucky Kingdom and the exposition center. (PDF Map) Old midway location will be more parking. Don't know if this means a heavy reduction of rides, but I guess we'll find out. They're also using express lanes to get in the gates 1, 3, 4, and 6 quicker if you buy your tickets in advance, and they're using an app to help with which gates to go to. You also won't get to choose where to park. Everyone will be directed to which lot they need to go to. Fair runs 17th-27th. Now thru 16th -- Parking: $5/Admission: $7 August 17th-27th -- Parking: $10/Admission: $10 I've not been to KK since it was a 6 Flags park. Is this the parking for KK also? If not what is the charge? I'll be there the end of next week for the 2 day special...

Great report! I'll be at Kings Island this time next week on vacation. I really love that park, and now with Mystic Timbers - it's even better. I can't wait to get there...

This used to be a Fairfield Inn by Marriott. I've stayed there before and it's good. The problem here is the train noise from the frequent crossing nearby.

I was at SFNE today. The park was very busy, but I got to ride Wicked Cyclone. I was in the front row, first train of the day. It was blah... I then rode it 4 more times in the last row, and better. This is my least favorite RMC remake. I've been on NTAG, IR, (both in Texas) and TC (Magic Mountain). This one doesn't hold a candle to any of those 3 RMC's. I've got a feeling Mean Streak will be my fav at Cedar Point when that's complete. One other important and disappointing note. Superman was down all day today. I left at 5. They were working on the motor / chain lift at the top all day...

So you got one of those rides on your first ride eh? Unlucky! Guess so! I felt like I was going to 'red out'. Not fun. Not to mention the pains on certain parts of the body. That's why I call it the "grunt lantern."

I've been at the Mountain for the past several days. I'm just glad that Riddler is open again & the BBQ place is back. Different name "Ace of Clubs," but same good BBQ. I'm happy, and could care less about JL. I don't do "VR" on Rev either. Yesterday afternoon VR wasn't an option, and I rode it 5 times. I love the ride for what it is without the horse-collars. Fast train dispatch too. Not the 10 + minutes with VR. That's just me...

Did they remove JB's BBQ by the Justice League or just rename it? It was one of the best places on the dining pass. I'm not sure where the pub is going, since I haven't been there in several months. I'll be there in a few weeks. Also is Riddler open or will it open with JL?

What you see comes from the cottonwood trees. It was pretty thick during the weekend. Although, the muffle-heads were starting to come out in the evenings. They normally are very bad during Coastermania, but seemed to be delayed this year. Yes, they taste like chicken...

Thanks for the report. This is the only Cedar Fair park I've not been to. I've heard so much about Shivering Timbers in the past, and glad it's still good. Sounds like the other woodie is worth a ride or two also. I love Phoenix at Knobels so much that I even moved to Phoenix! Sounds like I need to take a trip off the beaten path...

I'm flying to Cleveland for Coastermania today. The weather looks great for tomorrow! I hope to get some rides in tonight before closing... I can't wait....

WHAAAT?? It's getting near Coastermania (this Friday), and time for another catastrophic event following it. We've had power outages and water main breaks. I can't wait to see what happens this Saturday. I'll be there this weekend.
