I've broken two bones: 1) Broke my collar bone falling off a chair. I was pretty young and so, falling from a chair was quite a height! 2) A linear skull fracture when I fell off a bike and hurled into my mums (parked) car. I was knocked unconscious and had concussion. It wasn't pleasant!

If GCI made a slightly more compact giant coaster than the one in China, I would imagine it looking something like this! -

I actually quite like what they are doing. Also, I feel it is made all the more effective not knowing too much about the ride. You only have to look back at Alton Towers when Oblivion was being built to see how effective a marketing campaign such as this one can be. Fingers crossed the ride itself can live up to the hype the park have now imposed on the ride. -

^ Yes, but not every body of water is reflective. For instance, in the last one, only one out of the three bodies of water is reflective. In my experience, it has to do with the level of the water. Sometimes, if you change the level of the water, it can fix it. It is annoying but, it is the only thing that works for me. The waterfall may be an issue, but with a freestanding lake/pond, it should be okay. Play around with it and see what happens. -

QFT! I have introduced the majority of my friends to it and they have all LOVED it! One particular friend just so happened to also like soundtracks and so we share our love for the genre together. I'm listening to Sailing - Rod Stewart.

Because this went unanswered... I just tried to use AHG on Windows 7 and it pretty much does not work at all. It just freezes and things are out of line and you can't even close it without running task manager. You can't load a track or do pretty much anything. Is this to do with it not being compatable with Windows 7 or is it something else entirely?

How much Faster/Taller can we get?
jason10 replied to Sir Coaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There is no doubt that coasters can get a lot taller! We have been building structures much higher than 456ft for years. It could be easily translated into a coaster that is excessively tall. But, it would cost A LOT of money. Like said before, it doesn't have to be a launch and at that height, it would most likely break the speed record through gravity alone. It is possible but it's certainly not practical. -

There are some real jerks in this world. It's a shame they targeted you, Robb and forced you to do this! I totally understand what you did but you really do not deserve such treatment. -
Most Intense B&M!
jason10 replied to Beate's Freak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, being 17 years old this year, you can expect that it has aged. But for me, this adds to what the ride has become. If it was totally glass smooth, it wouldn't be the same Nemesis for me. It is still smooth so to speak, but it vibrates and jutters a lot and there are a few rough moments. It just adds to the character. Nemesis Inferno on the other hand is glass smooth. I have no complaints about roughness at all! It is a lot newer than Nemesis so this obviously has something to do with it. -

Most Intense B&M!
jason10 replied to Beate's Freak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would say that it is almost a tie between Nemesis and Alpie. Nemesis for obvious reasons: the helix of death and it's relentless pace really does it for me. Alp was something to be commended during night time ERT. Rode it in the back and it just zoomed around the course. It was more of a 'throw you around and force your a$$ into the seat' type of intense. But, I would say Nemesis takes the top spot for me by a few whiskers. -

Definitely Oblivion. Nothing beats going face first into a black hole in the ground! Plus, the drop sure does pack a pretty huge punch and always takes me by surprise.

Intamin 12-Inversion coaster
jason10 replied to chickenbowl's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It didn't even work for me that way. Still the odd website selling ice rinks and other stuff. On topic, the coaster looks like a vast improvement on the 10 inversion layout. I thought the corkscrews were the roughest bit so I worry about the amount of corkscrews. Other than that, I would love to see it built. I just hope it's a heck of a lot smoother than Colossus. Ouch... -
Heide Park Discussion Thread
jason10 replied to Sebbe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am really looking forward to seeing this ride built! The trains are sexy and I totally agree: I hope this moves more like a Euro Fighter as at the moment, Dive Machines have a more majestic and meandering feel to them. One thing I really hope for with this is an intense drop. Not saying Dive Machine drops aren't intense because nothing beats looking down at the drop before plummeting but, I found Griffon's drop to be a LOT less intense than Oblivion's. This isn't me being being a fanboy because I like Griffon on a whole better but what struck me was how different the drop was. I expected it to be a longer version of Oblivion's but I was mistaken. I find Oblivion's drop more 'HOLY SH!T' and Griffon is more 'Weeee.' It may just be me and my weirdness but if someone else agrees, please say! -
I think Oblivion definitely needs some kind of renovation. It's looking very tired and the holding mechanism is kind of hit or miss. It can hardly hold the train for 2 seconds. Sometimes you'll just go straight over with it slowing down only slightly. It also needs a new lick of paint. In fact, the whole area of X-Sector needs an overhaul. It's definitely the most neglected part of Alton Towers and it is in desperate need of a make over.

Amusement Ride Breakdown!
jason10 replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My weirdest breakdown was on Vortex at Thorpe Park. There was a power cut when it was swinging at half-height and so it just cut out. Of course it couldn't slow down because there was no power to the ride. We were left to swing to a stop by itself with no aid of a motor. It was a good 15-20 minutes before we stopped and that was a very long time to be swinging!
