  1. Hey guys, I’m thinking of riding mind eraser next visit. I haven’t been on it in many years, and that was long before I was an enthusiast, so I’m thinking of seeing just how awful it is (though some people have said it’s tolerable if you ride it certain ways). What tips do you guys have so that my ride won’t be as awful as it needs to be?
  2. Wild One, SFA. Built in 1917 as Giant Coaster @ Paragon Park. Very fun ride, solid air and laterals.
  3. As far as I understand, the Giga rumor is just a rumor/speculation based on measurements of the tunnel, number of supports/footers, and calculations based on the predicted length of the lift hill. Amusement Insiders (YouTube channel) explains this well, but it is still purly rumor/speculation. It does appear to be noticeably larger than Valravn, but we probably won’t know for sure until an announcement is made.
  4. TPR records back at it again with their new hit single “We’re on a Screaming Log Flume!” going on tour now at a flume near you Jokes aside, that’s one cool log flume, and another great installment in this TR!
  5. Every new installment of this TR makes me want to go to Japan more and more! Seems like an incredible country with an awesome culture, great things to do and see, and that’s not even considering the amusement parks and incredible public transportation! (I love trains and am very upset that I rarely get to ride them where I live ) This is an absolutely fantastic TR! I can’t wait to see more!
  6. I’m a bit late but: Anyway I’m loving the TR’s, keep ‘em coming
  7. I agree with everyone about the color scheme, looks great My main suggestions: -I’d rather have the page navigation buttons on the main viewing area instead of having to press “#.” Perhaps you can have next page and previous page buttons displayed by default and the full page navigation menu under the “#” -I’d love it if the mobile posting screen was more like the PC version (as in having the smiley menu, the area showing recent posts for reference, and the tags menu). Perhaps these can be in pop-ups like you currently have the page navigation. -If you could show mini-profile pictures next to posters that’d be great, but I’ve noticed you’ve indicated you don’t care much about the profile pics Finally, a minor bug I found: I switched to the mobile mode using the board preferences, but the “switch to mobile mode” link still appeared at the bottom of the screen. Hopefully these comments are useful, overall I do really like mobile mode
  8. Referring to all the responses to my question last page about crowds: I see. As a follow up question, how does GAdv generally handle rain/storm? What rides are most likely to close during rain? If it thunderstorms, how long after the storm dies down before they re-open stuff? (Sure hope the answer to this question is a bit more conclusive than my last one ) EDIT: Just realized coasterbill mentioned some of the answers to the above Q’s in his last post. I’ll leave the questions up there if anyone has something to add.
  9. Would you guys say this calendar is accurate? I’m hoping I might be able to head up there soon, but my family would probably only be able to go on a weekend (or next Friday - possibly).
  10. After re-reading my description of the orange/black thing I realize that I wasn't being clear enough, since there are two orange/black things, and it's the smaller one that takes you to the newest post.
  11. ^ It already exists. It’s a tiny little orange/black image to the left of the title of unread topics. Clicking it takes you to the latest post. Also, if you click on a topic with unread posts normally, then at the top of the page should be a link that says “first unread post” which does the same thing.
  12. I personally was quite surprised to find Wild One (SFA) lower than InvadR and Flying Turns. While I haven't ridden InvadR nor Flying Turns, from what I've read, those rides are reported to be tamer family rides (which isn't a bad thing), while Wild One is IMO a surprisingly awesome coaster with solid air and fun laterals on the final helix (provided you don't sit in a wheel seat), especially considering its age (+100 years). I wonder if this is just because the system is still in Beta testing, or if Flying Turns and InvadR are better than I've been led to believe.
  13. Overall I think the mobile theme is easier to use, and I appreciate not having to constantly zoom to click the right link. I agree with what others have said that it would be nice to have a color scheme similar to the desktop version. A few other changes I personally would like -Full version of the posting interface (with smilies, text effects, embedded links, etc) -I’d prefer for profile pictures to be visible when reading threads. -I’d like the page navigation to be on the main viewing screen (Instead of having to tap the ‘#’ to see it)
  14. ^ Please correct me if something I say is wrong, but isn’t the Golden Ticket awards mostly a popularity contest? If so, then I would get to excited for Hyperion’s Golden Ticket, since I doubt enough enthusiasts are traveling to southern Poland to give it a good chance of placing well. The TPR poll, on the other hand, I can easily see this being a contender if enough people ride. Most enthusiasts have pretty much accepted that the Golden Tickets are a pretty poor indicator of how good a ride is. Regardless, I’m ridiculously hyped for this ride, even though it will probably be years and years before I get a chance to ride it. Can’t wait for testing!!!
  15. Wow, you can pretty easily see where the old part of the sign ends and the fix begins Not only is there a color change, but the lettering style from one side to the other is slightly different as well!
  16. Launch! New coaster in with too much downtime (think Lightning Rod 2016) or new coaster with low capacity and poor operations in a popular park (think Fuji-Q levels)?
  17. ^ (To the 2nd question) Yes. It was rare, but if you look on YouTube there is some footage of both sides dueling.
  18. Separate Ways (World's Apart) By Journey
  19. ^ It's been like that for the past few months. SF introduced the 4-tier memberships to all their parks sometime around February or March and has been really pushing for people to choose it over the standard season passes.
  20. ^ It’s Memorial Day, longer lines are to be expected. Anyway I went today as well and had a nice time. The park was quite crowded (nearly the whole parking lot was being used), but lines never exceeded 20-30min for any of the coasters I rode. Everything was running two trains, and I can confirm that Batwing was running both trains on both sides. Operations were surprisingly good for SFA standards on many of the coasters. At Roar, the two people checking the restraints were literally racing each other to see who could complete their side the fastest, so that line moved at a pretty good pace, though they were doing it so fast I wasn't sure if they actually pulled up on all the restraints and the seatbelts to ensure they were locked. I finally got a front row ride on S:ROS, and while I was only able to go once: Wow! Everyone who said that ride is best in the front is absolutely right. The view is great and the sensation of speed is incredible! Also I actually got some mild air going up the first hill, which I’ve never really gotten. I would’ve liked to ride more, but the line grew quickly, and we had other coasters to ride. Also, I got my first 2nd-to-back row on Wild One and it was great! Solid floater and even some moments approaching flejector sort of air! I preferred it to my 2nd row ride I got ~2 months ago, though on my previous ride the cold and the fact that it was very early in the season may have factored into me liking my recent ride more. Overall I had a fun time at Six Flags America, and look forward to visiting in the future Ride Count: Wild One: 2 JJ: 2 S:ROS: 1 Batwing: 1 Roar: 1
  21. We've seen giant theme parks and resorts themed to Mickey Mouse, but never before have we gotten the fantastic opportunity to ride between his ears! I love the Disney parks but I was always disappointed when not a single ride let me ride between Mickey's iconic ears. Thankfully, Idlewild is filling in this gap beautifully, and I can't wait to finally sit between Mickey's ears and ride this incredible experience! IMO, this is absolutely the right move for Idlewild, and I think more coasters should follow this example!
  22. 1.) Point Taken 2.) Correct
  23. Nope. Do you think there's any chance of SFA getting an RMC in the next few years?
