  1. Yup. Just in time for a Trip to SFGAdv last week Have you ever had the experience of getting off of a coaster with the feeling that it was the best coaster you've ever ridden period?
  2. Pretty much everything will remain open during the rain, but most of the rides do shut down if there's lightning nearby.
  3. Glad you had a good visit! Nice report. I agree with your assessment of the park, it gets some more hate than it necessarily deserves (and sorely needs shade) but is capable of providing a fun day. Personal tip for if you wind up back at the park in the future: On Superman, for the best ride, ride in the very front row. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Not only does it give the best airtime in the park, but it gives an awesome sensation of speed, and is generally smoother than the other rows. Can't wait for the next installment!
  4. ^According to this website (whose accuracy I don't guarantee), Kingda Ka is currently the fastest accelerating ride in North America.
  5. Yes, Skyrush was quite hard on my thighs, but was still awesome Have you ever gotten a rollback on a launch coaster? If so, which one?
  6. So I’ve read somewhere (on this site actually) that apparently, if you try to cancel your membership after 12 months, Six Flags will reduce the price twice before actually letting you cancel. Is this true? Also, aside from discounts, ERT, and the rewards program, what are the benefits of a Gold+ membership over a gold Season pass? Is it worth the extra $18 (at SFA)? Also, does Gold Season pass (not membership) give free parking for all Six Flags or just your home park? Sorry if any of these things have already been answered before.
  7. Floorless stand-up trains? They've done it on drop towers, so why not roller coasters? Stand-up floorless train on Apacolypse? Lord have mercy.
  8. I recall reading in multiple places that the very front row is the money seat (of course during the night). I’ve never been to KI though so I can’t confirm if that’s true.
  9. I’m going to agree with what others are saying and tell you that this thing looks awesome! I can’t wait to see more progress! At this point, what would you say is your best guess for completion (give or take a few months)?
  10. ^As I mentioned earlier, Hangtime is a major coaster. Also Ghostrider's not too shabby either. Take a glance at my homepark (SFA) and quit complaining
  11. I think you partly answered your own question. Because of its location and tourist traffic, Knotts has a certain built-in draw that likely doesn't necessitate the same type of capital investment to get strong continued attendance. In contrast, cedar fair is really trying to make the two CW's strong destination parks, and thus putting massive capital into them. Just a guess, but there is an obvious difference in investment dollars. To add on to TurnOfTheCentuty, keep in mind that Knott's literally just received a sizable investment with Hangtime. Sure, it's not quite on the level as Carowind's investment or even Canada's Wonderland, but Knott's has not been neglected any way you look at it IMO.
  12. ^ Please let Fortnite-Apocalypse-Firebird develop into a proper meme. I know the "leak" that first suggested it was proven to be complete BS but it's still quite funny
  13. if you're looking to avoid long lines Cedar Point is definitely not the place to go. When you live an hour away from a park and can basically go whenever you want, you go on days where it's not crowded... Unfortunately those days are few and far between at SFGAm over the past few seasons.... I must have gotten *ridiculously lucky* my one visit this season. I went on a day that was forecasted thunderstorms for like a whole week before the actual date, and when I got there, there was only a little bit of rain, nearly everything I wanted was open, and the park was dead! Mind you this was late July! I'm probably coming back next year (especially now with Maxx Force ) but unless I'm literally the god of luck I doubt I'll ever see anything like that again at this park. That one visit though was awesome
  14. At the moment, my favorite is probably Zippers. I've only ridden one once (at the MD state fair a few days ago) but holy sh*t that was insane. They ran a super long cycle and it was probably the most balls-to-the-wall flat I've been on! Definitely worth the minor headache I walked off with Also who cares that nobody has posted on this thread in over a year
  15. ^Keep in mind that making the track is just one part of 'making the thing,' as RMC does not make the supports, trains, mechanics, operating system, nor do they design or construct any other aspect of the ride (to my knowledge at least). Yes I know you're mostly just giving me grief (which I don't have a problem with) but it's still worth noting that RMC's role isn't quite as big in these rides as some people make it out to be.
  16. ^^ Yes but aside from manufacturing the track itself RMC is not involved at all to my knowledge.
  17. I vote Maxx Force just because I'm a sucker for a strong launch and intense ride. Do-dodonpa is near the top of my bucket list (even though it will probably be a long time before I have an opportunity to ride it) and this is probably the closest we'll get in North America for a while, plus that layout looks intense! Also Maxx Force will likely be the only one I may actually be able to ride next year.
  18. I mean I think we all lost whatever little faith we had in new rides for this park after they announced a somewhat decent carnival ride package and then only opened a single sad tilt-a-whirl
  19. Cool ride! It's kind of like a blend between Helix and Icon. That 2nd launch makes me think of this ride.
  20. Well better than a tilt-a-whirl! I wonder if they’ll be able to maintain their ride promise this year.
  21. Looks pretty good Glad we aren’t losing our B&M, and this is certainly an upgrade from Wahoo River! I wonder how they’re going to “theme” it. Apocalypse’s theming was actually pretty decent, though I wouldn’t put it past six flags to just spray-paint Apacolypse’s former theming red and call it a day
  22. IRat might be different from most other RMC's b/c it uses Gerstlauer-made trains (as does NTxG)
  23. Very interesting! Looks like a great coaster, I love the layout and overall I'm impressed! As far as pure size goes, this looks to be SF's largest new coaster in quite a few years! Perfect for SFMM and a worthy 20th coaster! With Twisted Colossus it's kinda redundant layout-wise, but it certainly looks awesome! Can't wait to one day ride it! As a side note - it is kinda funny though how Six Flags is 2 for 2 in "world's first coasters that aren't actually the world's first or even the only of it's kind operating" with WWGLC (which is technically not the world's first single rail coaster) and WCR (which is definitely not the world's first launched racing coaster). That's not a complaint or anything, just a funny observation.
  24. I'm going to predict that it is removed and replaced with this. That way whatever is announced will *probably* exceed expectations
  25. In no particular order (note that I'm not too well traveled): Tier 1 - Elite coasters: El Toro Phoenix Skyrush Maverick* Tier 2 - Very good coasters: Top Thrill Dragster* Superman: Ride of Steel (SFA) Goliath (SFGAm) Nitro Storm Runner I'm only doing 9 because if I included "Tier 3" then the list would be too long *While I have visited Cedar Point, it was just for a single afternoon/evening (long story), and it was before I was an enthusiast. Because of this, I only rode 8 coasters, and my rankings should be taken with a grain of salt. Note that while I did ride Millennium Force, my leg decided that on this ride would be a good time to randomly act up and cause pain, which kinda ruined my ride. Because of that, I'd feel wrong to make any sort of judgement on that coaster.
