  1. ^It doesn't require a lot of room if you're good at it. It's a great scare if done right.
  2. ^The only announcement made thus far was them confirming that "a new attraction will be built in its place." They've started grading the backlot for reconstruction, so we'll probably see in the next few months if a show building is returning to the area.
  3. Lots of parks have Physics days where they give out a packet of physics questions relating to their rides. Hopefully some of you get to attend your local parks physics days!
  4. Do any of the monsters in masks wear eye black? Lots of makeup monsters=awesome. Masks without eye black=failure.
  5. This thread is the SFMM discussion thread. Please start another thread if you wish to discuss/review FrightDome.
  6. I asked an entertainment guy about the water, since it bugs the hell out of me too... "Well, what else do you want us to do? It wouldn't be realistic if Jason just chops a guys head off and there wasn't blood."
  7. How much is actually new at Fright Fest? Willoughbys and Brutal Planet have been around for ages, and even Jokesters and the Bog have been around for 3 years (I think) now... So one new maze for $5? Again, that's not a big deal to me, and $5 for a maze is still a great deal considering all the other options (even the local professional haunts charge more)...but for a guest who has been coming for "free", I can see where there might be frustration over paying for essentially the same thing that has been free for ages. Magic didn't help themselves any by releasing that information so late either.
  8. ^^The Japan trip ended a few weeks ago. They're just busy people! The season is still young...plenty of time to climb back up in the rankings.
  9. Fearplex is being done by the Spookyhouse people this year, so I have no idea where those props went... But yeah, Shipwreck hasn't been good for a long time now.
  10. You do realize that they stopped that running gag after the 5th or 6th season, right? He barely dies anymore.
  11. To be fair, I totally understand why people are upset over the $5 upcharge...Fright Fest being free is what separated it from the the other so cal events IMO. But you also got what you paid for. I was never impressed with the Fright Fest mazes at all. Not that $5 is a big deal to me, but I always thought it was nice to be able to enjoy the full day and night events with my pass. As did many others I am sure.
  12. Bummer I missed you guys at Haunt...guess I'll try again tomorrow at USH.
  13. ^^I would say they are much more like Busch parks. Definitely above SF quality!
  14. ^Not me! I'm all for Intamin having an "off-the-shelf" model that more parks can afford.
  15. Most of the structure is still really old wood. Fire probably isn't the best thing to have anywhere near the log ride.
  16. I made a comment that "if Steve and Miles were here, we would totally have had a race to see who could finish 11 first!" I ended up having 5. Oh well, there is always the next trip!
  17. The best food at the fair was the Fresh Mexican Churros! That stand also had chocolate covered bacon. And the best beer at the fair was the Stuff from the competition they had for tasting in one of the buildings. Most of the stands were Busch products.
  18. MGM has a partnership with the company that did the Atlantis hotels to develop a new mega-resort on property right next to Circus Circus (that will use some of the RV park). Circus Circus is done for. It's just a matter of when, given what has happened to the economy. The north end of the strip was quickly becoming a hot spot of development until the economy took a nose dive. Two major projects (Echelon and The Plaza) were put on hold, so I have my doubts the Sahara will go through with its plan to build a new tower and completely renovate the property. Vegas is in trouble right now. And as a sort of on-topic comment, I have to say that I hate the way everything in Vegas is becoming so generic/bland. The themed resorts were too over the top, but now everything is just becoming bland and boring...err, I mean "trendy/upscale." Something in between (like Mandalay Bay, Venetian, Paris) works best IMO.
  19. Whoa, whoa, whoa... Hi Miller? Great coaster? Whaaa?? The Sky Flyer is a rip off Star Flyer. Same experience though.
  20. That was a joke? I was quite disappointed that the only "joke" about HHN/Universal was practically a compliment.
  21. Every situation is unique. What it comes down to is the proper plan for the market you are in. They're spending 1 billion dollars to add to DCA because that plan failed miserably. They've also had to scramble to add attractions to HKDL for the same reason. On the other hand, IoA and TDS were able survive on their own without adding major attractions because they were built as complete parks from the beginning. Then there is also smaller parks like Holiday World, Mt. Olympus, etc. where the market allows for continued growth like you described.
  22. Well...you can. But not one with a horribly misguided business plan that allegedly projected 3,000,000 guests in its first year. They also never reacted to what gas prices did to their business plan (even though it was never a $50 park in the first place), keeping prices way too high for too long. I honestly believe that if restructured properly, it can at least survive. If it was me in charge, I would charge $10-20 for admission and turn the place into a pay-per-ride park where your admission gets you into the shows+1 or 2 ride coupons. I would also only leave a small portion of the property for theme park development, and focus on what seems to be popular in Myrtle Beach: shops/restaurants/hotel/golf/family fun center activities. Should be interesting...at least if they don't recover, they have a lot of stuff they can sell to pay back most of the debt.
  23. Be sure to take lots of pictures of Asylum and 13 Axe Murder Manor because they won't be there next year. Goodbye Asylum.
  24. Posts from an iPhone would show an ATT Wireless I.P. address. Which was obviously not the case. Unless he has the worlds strongest router, there would be no way for the I.P.s to be exactly the same from posts made from his house and the hospital. Wes explained it in the other thread.
