LIM/LSM's are not cheap to operate...probably out of the price range for what SFKK is looking for. -

^Agreed! Just some random tidbits: 1. The Silent Hill maze was a combination of the latest movie and video games. 2. The awesome place (Parisian Courtyard) was announced by John Murdy as a maze location this year! Construction is already underway. -

The weight drop version of the ride was boring anyways...not a big loss IMO. Definitely not worth the effort to restore (Knott's spends a ton of money keeping Monte running---those parts are not cheap!) -

I hope Lava Monster has a cousin in the Jungle as part of this overhaul! -
TPR SYFY MOVIE NIGHT: SHARKNADO
Jew replied to the ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The good thing about the SharkNado hype is that it will only encourage SyFy to keep ordering more movies from Asylum! I just hope it doesn't increase the budgets and make them more like real movies! -
I just think he didn't want to play for the Devils...

Boeing 777 Crashes at San Francisco International Airport

NTSB confirmed it was an intern of theirs who gave those names. The producer was probably more concerned with getting a scoop then realizing how fake the names were. -

They're definitely not bad rides...but far from the best either. Good forces in the loop and some fun floater air on the tower. Enthusiasts just place more sentimental value on them. -

...And just down the 5 freeway, KBF keeps making the event even better every year! I'm definitely excited for the Knott's day! -
TPR SYFY MOVIE NIGHT: SHARKNADO
Jew replied to the ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The acting and effects deserve academy awards. Not the best of the syfy movies, but not the worst either. I'm glad they are getting more exposure...that means they'll keep making them! -

Full Throttle. -
^I think the not caring is a byproduct of everyone having to "act" instead of being able to go out there and have fun. It's already tough to find so many people willing to do those hours under those working conditions (it's definitely NOT an easy job) for minimum wage, and now Knott's is trying to make their jobs even less interesting. There was a time it was a requirement you had to work 5 years in a maze before even being considered for streets. Now it's all audition based, so the talent and passion of the monsters seems to vary a lot more. My personal opinion is they should keep the freedom while also keep increasing the set detail, but that's just me. The things we did back in my time (my favorite: turning an electric wheelchair into a Scion by covering it in cardboard boxes and driving it around harassing/scaring guests on Scion night) have no place at Knott's now.

I have mixed feelings about this lineup... I think they will make for great mazes, but at the same time I also feel like Knott's is trying too hard to be like HHN and drifting away from what they are best at: being "old fashioned" haunts. Having worked there from 2003-2008, I felt like the strength of Knott's is the talent having freedom to do almost anything with their characters. For example, I was a clown and in the Asylum...which meant I could be scary, fun, crazy, chase people through the maze because I fit in any room, and so on. Now all these mazes are more story based, so that flexibility goes away. However, major props for Knott's for announcing everything so early and letting the hype build already!

How lucrative of an industry is it, if you don't mind sharing?

Blackhawks fans must feel good knowing they can't touch the cup, but Justin Beiber can because "he has the same audience as future Blackhawk fans."

It's kind of sad that is what the Q&A has become...whether you love or hate Tim Burkhart, he has been at the park since 1977 and in charge of construction for quite awhile. I'm sure he has plenty of stories/photos/videos/old concept art he could share even if he can't go into detail about future projects. -
