  1. Who is to say that the seatbelt would not have buckled? I mean, some rides have the extender belt, and her fat could have also absorbed the seatbelt enough to make it buckle. The reality is the investigation needs to finish to Six Flags can take the proper corrective action. Whatever that might be.
  2. I love that Six Flags got caught in a lie. Reminds me of when SFMM denied having an area at their security trailer meant for detaining guests, only to have the local news station put them on blast with a photo of the area.
  3. ^^They can't make it awesome if they aren't yet able to even cycle it yet!
  4. ^Correct. I believe I read somewhere that they were intended as a portable coaster, but the showmen it was built for couldn't find a feasible way to rack the ride due to the track size.
  5. ^^People may try to sue...but they have no legal grounding to stand on.
  6. I'm not sure I buy that..."we're going to sell you a brand new ride (one we have experience building), but you'll have to wait 6 more weeks for this one part you need to operate it..." I guess it is possible that something went wrong at the factory and the machines needed to built the part are out of service, but that seems unlikely to me...
  7. That's karma for ruining what was left of the themeing at treasure island.
  8. I'm guessing NTAG doesn't feature either of these, but both of those features you mentioned (WiFi and restraint sensors on ride tracks) are possible and in service on various rides throughout the world.
  9. That would depend on their control system. The original S:TE & Xcelerator (maybe all older Intamins?) used to be able to be dispatched with lapbars up. The State made the parks modify the rides so this was no longer the case.
  10. ^There are a few Vekomas out there with a fixed foundation, though I wonder how feasible it would be transporting that wider track.
  11. ASTM standards dictate there has to be some sort of redundant mechanism, so there had to have been something.
  12. ^I stated in another thread it would be cool to see a showman buy the portable EuroFighter (like Typhoon @ Bobbejaanland). The first Zamperla motocoaster I believe had a fixed foundation as well. Would be nice to see something new and exciting again.
  13. Lets find out an actual cause before deciding who is liable.
  14. Very unfortunate incident. But please, before we rush to any judgement---lets wait for the official investigation. There are so many possibilities as to why it happened.
  15. Schedules are out!
  16. ^The press release said June...of 2014. They'll be building a preview center before that. Regarding SLS...we'll see if it can last. Mid/High end market and party goers will be tough to get to that location. Could get good convention business. Sam Nazarian doesn't even have a gaming license yet either (Sahara's casino was operated by another company).
  17. John Murdy announced one new maze location: Parisian Courtyard. Construction is already underway.
  18. Enchanted Forest in Oregon built their coasters.
  19. Overnight labor cost more $$ I'm sure SFMM could find a contractor who would do it overnight on the cheap. They also could have paid to get it right from the beginning. But this is SFMM, so...I'm sure we'll see an actual queue in 20 years.
  20. ^Wait, you've been to Australia? Seriously though...hooray for more EuroFighters. I'd like to see a European showman or traveling carnival in the U.S. get one of the portable ones, but I'm guessing that's not feasible from a transportation/construction point.
  21. I'm on board with the Jets...because Mark Sanchez brought them to USH and they were all really nice guys.
  22. That's awesome they have a classic ride section and that those rides are still popular! Something else that would never happen in the U.S. Classic for us is a Zipper.
  23. ^Or maybe they cost less from advances in engineering/fabrication/construction? Who knows. Ride pricing is extremely variable depending on all sorts of factors. I don't think they'll be getting a boomerang...but maybe something else from Vekoma (like a custom mine train or big air coaster) is in their price range...
  24. ^Asiana backed away from their lawsuit...but I agree that the producers should be fired for not catching the obvious joke.
