  1. I'm hoping for a performer that bites the head off a bat! This maze should be cool...one of my all time favorite mazes was "the thrilling chilling world of Rob Zombie" based off "Hellbilly Deluxe." Hope this can live up to that!
  2. In other (real) news... http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/69220/universal-studios-announces-black-sabbath-13-3d-halloween-horror-nights-maze
  3. Now that's how you do an indoor water park! Love that it is a fullsize water park instead of a smaller scale water park crammed into a building, which is what you usually see from indoor water parks.
  4. Wish they could get all the major providers to upgrade cell infrastructure, though I have never had any issues at WDW on Verizon. Don't get LTE everywhere though. Luckily they offer free WiFi to offset that!
  5. Couldn't have been that serious then...quick turnaround.
  6. ^I would say that the amount of preventative maintenance required to keep them running good would place them in the "bad" category for maintenance.
  7. I suspect the restaurant will end up being re-purposed as another dining option. Full service dining at a theme park is difficult to pull off outside of Disney, since the margins are much lower from higher operating costs. They're probably closing it down to refine the menu and operations in order to keep it profitable.
  8. ^The complaints about YOLOPlaza aren't about the entertainment options, but rather the cheap nature of the area. Outside of the water feature in the ground, you can tell the whole area was thrown together in about 5 minutes. If/when it is all actually finished, it has potential.
  9. Every single ride ever built. No design can withstand the wear and tear of being cycled as many times as rides do. Some are just better at prolonging the inevitable.
  10. Didn't Royal Caribbean upgrade their island to have a dock?
  11. Love all your reports from obscure Chinese parks. Keep them coming!
  12. Sounds like the SFMM 'cycle shop' is still woefully understaffed...
  13. ^Still not sure I believe that given the new Six Flags management team going back to the old ways...
  14. ^I am not sure if this is on all inverts, but some actually have a drain system (little tube that runs down the side of the car) for that very reason.
  15. If I remember correctly, the brown train came to the park in 2001 or 2002.
  16. ^^^Viper inherited the 4th train from another park. I think only Ninja came with the extra train. ^^It would be a good investment if efficiency mattered to the park and its guests. But since neither really care, it's not worth the extra $1 million or whatever a train costs...
  17. ^Yeah, sounds like that was a verbal agreement that was never finalized. FYI: It's only 1 month until kickoff!
  18. ^I agree. I would be curious to know what part has failed so soon into the rides life. Usually parks keep stock on hand for common problems, so something pretty bad must have been found for them to have to wait for a part to be shipped or fabricated already. Either that or SFMM was too cheap to buy the proper stock of parts in the first place, which is also a possibility...
  19. I feel even less excited about eventually getting the credits at Fun Spot now...
  20. I'm not so sure I would consider Colossus iconic. The Coney Island Cyclone is iconic. Most people outside of LA probably don't even know the ride exists. You could probably tell them it was featured in Vacation or the Step by Step opening, and then they'd say "oh yeah...," but I don't think that counts as iconic. However, more to the point of the discussion: I wouldn't count on the RMC makeover unless the contract was already signed. The NTAG incident is sure to put a strain on their business relationship, since I am sure both sides (well, their insurance companies & lawyers) will be haggling over who is responsible and pays out what.
  21. I don't think most people realize just how difficult playing a character at a theme park is. Even if you are a costumed character, to be good at your job you still have to figure out what you can do to remain in character without talking and within the limits of the costume. For example, at USH, I always see the Scooby costumed characters making it a point to seek out guests with snacks in their hands. For face characters its even more difficult--since they have to look the part, act the part, and sound like the part!
  22. ^Perhaps you should share that reason. I think it was a fair assumption to make: shortly after a fatal accident involving ejector air, a modified train pops up on another one of the companies coasters. Not a reach to guess that the two are related, even if it is incorrect.
  23. ^The requirements in CA are much more stringent than in other states. Knott's have to get the state to approve the modifications to the ride. Perhaps the state saw something they didn't like?
  24. It's not that they can't handle it...I just wonder if Six Flags is willing to keep footing the bill.
  25. I think Shockwave is a great ride, but I wonder how much longer the ride will be able to last if parts have to be special made...can't imagine Six Flags wanting that expense forever.
