  1. You can go to Guest Relations and ask to see the rides certificate of compliance.
  2. Only time will tell who is wrong: once they actually have to do an evacuation with guests at one of the parks, California will either be vindicated or look really stupid. Demonstrating the procedure with park employees (who I am sure have practiced it a whole bunch) is one thing, but using it with actual guest may prove to be something entirely different. ...Or maybe CalOSHA just knows the average Californian would never be able to use it safely?
  3. I applaud your school spirit! Awesome! In other news: Lane Kiffin still can't call plays.
  4. Especially since we already announced there won't be a Q&A at Magic Mountain: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1330101#p1330101 I loved the SFMM Q&A last year, that sucks! So I guess that means no Log Jammer pieces for me. It's not like they actually said anything of interest besides "I can't answer that" anyways...
  5. None of the attractions outside of Curious George are impacted by the build. Maybe 0.000001% of USH's guests will be upset by that. And that will only be a problem until Despicable Me/Silly Silly Funland opens, which will offset the loss of that family play area. Lets not forget how ridiculously popular the Minion characters are. Despicable Me is going to be a huge draw. There is also still the same amount of mazes this year located in different areas than in previous years (perhaps they already planned for the construction? Hmm...). You can't compare SFMM to USH because USH is in a different league---the nearly 3.5 million more guests USH had in 2012 speaks for itself. The Studio Tour > anything at SFMM when it comes to tourist dollars. Or even local dollars for that matter, as I am guessing they are having just as much success with their "buy a day, get the year" free program as SFMM...
  6. ...And that is exactly why even parks like Hard Rock Park (who couldn't do anything else right) managed to figure out no one likes being chained to a single area all day (except for you apparently).
  7. ^Exactly. It's too bad Mark Cuban is probably all just talk when it comes to creating a new sanctioning body for college athletics. The NCAA has outgrown its purpose of "protecting" student athletes.
  8. ^I think while trying to argue against a central kids area, you explained exactly why having them throughout the park is a better idea---your entire family wants to do different things and eat at different places, so IMO it would be more convenient to have things close by all those different things. That sounds more appealing than having to hike back and forth to the same area to trade off babysitting duties. From my experiences traveling around the world with Robb, Elissa, and KidTums---I can definitely say I prefer having kids rides spread throughout, rather than all the times we had to trade off baby duties or having to hike back to "basecamp" to switch.
  9. Double post...The Universal Plaza and Pinks have opened! Not exactly a new attraction, but it is nice to have some open space in the park again. Here is the finished product of the "Cathay Circle ripoff" another site got so worked up over... The plaza features a small water play area...which is nice, because soon it will have to replace Curious George until Silly Silly Funland opens! Anyone from LA should know Pinks is as good as it gets for hot dogs in this town... A sampling of the menu...lots of unhealthy awesomeness
  10. Depending on how large the family coaster is, it can also be shoehorned into backstage spaces around the theater as well.
  11. All I can think of when I read the name is "Juuuumannngi!"
  12. If they can't keep things nice with 5 days a week during the offseason to complete projects, what makes you think it would be any better with a proper offseason? The issue has never been time---tons of talented guys work at SFMM on the technical side who are more than capable of getting things done if given the proper resources.
  13. I don't think there is any question he (or one of his buddies just leeching off of him) took money for those autograph signings. The problem for the NCAA was that none of them would talk to anyone but the press. So the NCAA technically had nothing. Which of course led them to the ridiculous suspension of 1/2 a game against a team no one cares about. Either go all in and continue to pretend to be tough with no consistency whatsoever, or do nothing at all. But yes, it does all come down to the money---hence Ohio State players being able to play in the Sugar Bowl, Cam Newton getting no punishment because "he didn't know what was going on," Julio Jones and Mark Ingram's fishing trip, no ruling on the Oregon/Will Lyles situation yet, and so on...The NCAA does whatever it wants with no rhyme or reason to any of it. USC's former running backs coach sued the NCAA for the show cause order they placed on him (they made the ridiculous claim that he was told over the phone that Reggie Bush was getting paid and their only evidence was one 2 minute call from phone records and a photoshopped picture of Todd McNair with the guy who made the accusation), and the judge ruled there was more than enough evidence to go to trial. Naturally the NCAA is fighting to keep those court records sealed. Wonder why?
  14. RCS travels with a Music Express and KMG Afterburner on their route.
  15. ^I don't think he is that dumb, but that best friend/assistant guy of his...This just reeks of Cam Newton all over again. Found a grey area to survive a major suspension. It's funny how the brokers will freely talk to ESPN (one even showed video of him signing), but won't talk to the NCAA. Just makes me even more upset Reggie Bush didn't just pay the asshole guy who went to the NCAA off (he only settled with one of the two guys)...
  16. Any ride that you can only ride at certain times for it to be considered great is not actually a great ride IMO...
  17. I love seeing fairground build pictures. One of the few things in this industry that still fascinates me---moving giant rides around the world with ease is an amazing feat!
  18. The brake run allowed them to run 3 trains, which at the time was necessary.
  19. Interesting news. I hope just being a tenant is good in the long run!
  20. Well, Iron Horse Colossus is rumored for 2015...so maybe they are getting a head start for a change.
  21. I will probably do it myself, and as long as the bonus rooms/scares are well done---they'll have me hooked for next year too!
  22. ^Naturally a raiders fan would misspell "two." I have two words for the Raiders as well: Offensive Line. Pryor is going to be running for his life because the Raiders don't have one.
  23. So Knott's did something fairly brilliant for Haunt: Not only do "Fright Lane" ticket holders get front of the line, but now they also get a "skeleton key" that will "unlock additional rooms and interactive scares in select mazes." Simply brilliant. It suckers in fans who would otherwise come on a Thursday to avoid crowds to buy the pass (like me!), while also giving more value to the pass at a relatively low cost (I can't imagine an extra maze room costing more than a few grand).
  24. Four years ago RMC wasn't a player in the industry, and they had their existing relationship with Gravity Group....
