  1. I can see them selling a limited number of smoking balconies if demand drops, but I think for the most part smokers understand that the opinion on smoking has changed. Many cities have already banned smoking on outdoor patios in restaurants and major public places (like theme parks and sports venues) already have designated smoking areas. Casinos are probably the last major holdout left.
  2. These awards remind me a lot of the Golden Globes in that a small group of random people determine what is best for an entire industry and the industry plays along because it is good for their business.
  3. I had to leave before the night ERT, but kudos to the operator who made that sign. It's always cool to see parks out there that really care to put on awesome events at TPR and appreciate our visits!
  4. I think it is pretty obvious the kiddie coaster is just a cheap way to add another coaster to their count, so they can further play that angle out. "Most coasters in the world...but only about half of them are actually thrilling."
  5. Side note: they really should do something with the old bungee/space adventure site!
  6. Us as enthusiasts see Mitch's poll as being the better option, but for the industry as a whole---these are still the "it" award, along with the THEA's.
  7. They've replaced sections throughout the years, but never a full overhaul.
  8. ^That worked out for you about as well as Lane Kiffin's playcalling did for me.
  9. ^You would be surprised. Halloween is actually a slower night when it doesn't fall on a weekend for all haunts. People want to be out partying and Trick-or-treating.
  10. ^Still a consideration. Time is money when doing post production, so the less time wasted re-dubbing and removing unwanted background noise the better.
  11. ^^Both. Sound travels pretty far from the upper lot.
  12. 1. The article gets its "facts" from the guy who was kicked out, as Universal chose to be respectful and respond with a generic PR response instead of putting the guy on blast. 2. The difference between the streets and a theme park is that a theme park is a controlled environment. The same reason parks have policies about shirts like these is the same reason they generally don't allow costumes except for special events: they can't run the risk of any confusion while on their property. Even if it is slim.
  13. The backwards car on Mindbender is ridiculous.
  14. I'm going to guess the guy made a scene when asked to turn his shirt inside out/change it.
  15. ^Health nuts? To no fanfare what-so-ever, the Curious George playground and Flinstones Carnival Game area have closed. And the avalanche/mummy tunnel. Construction walls are already going up. Amplitheater's last show is Sept. 6. I didn't realize it until today, but over the course of the last 10 years nearly the entire park has been updated. Only JP and the Animal Actors show remain as the elder statesmen.
  16. ^^There's also a Tilted Kilt at the Valencia Town Center.
  17. Count me in the add another nice coaster category. The charm of the past is dead. It's nice they are doing what they can to bring some of it back, but they were already way past the point of it being repairable. I'd love a nice compact intamin mega coaster snaking around the boardwalk to finish the revitalization of that area.
  18. I'm sure I would ride it once for the credit, and if it was actually has violent as advertised---never again.
  19. This one is really a case of both parties screwing up. She should have rented a locker, but I also enjoy anytime SFMM gets put on blast for being cheap with labor. Any well run park will have dedicated staff to their lost and found department and not try to have them covering both the GR desk in the park AND the lost & found/call center phones.
  20. As has been mentioned in here numerous times...that building no longer exists as it was for KoD. It was gutted to make more for Johnny Rockets ventilation/HVAC systems. I thought they only used some of the building not all of it, so if they indeed used the entire building than never mind. That is correct, but if they were to use the remaining portions for a dark ride...it wouldn't leave much.
  21. As has been mentioned in here numerous times...that building no longer exists as it was for KoD. It was gutted to make more for Johnny Rockets ventilation/HVAC systems. The Haunt audition process is somewhat laughable...they only started doing auditions to copy HHN. Can't really say if it has improved things, as there are lots of people who can do good auditions and not be able to hang during Haunt. There are also people like myself who are seasoned Haunt veterans who would bomb the audition but kick ass out in the park. If they were concerned about quality, they should go back to having it be a requirement that you spend at least 5 years in a maze before being eligible for streets.
  22. If the park is making the effort to put out signage, I think it is safe to assume X2 won't be back in action anytime soon.
  23. It did. Very hard to maintain with all the motors and stress on the arms.
  24. That would be open about as much as Windseeker...
