  1. I'd still take a megalite over any of those Premier rides in a hearbeat. Though I agree it is nice to see them have a resurgence in the industry.
  2. If I was B&M, I would be making random part names just to mess with enthusiasts.
  3. ^That's a cool story. I have to admit, even after all these years visiting and working at theme parks---the sight of seeing the characters go above and beyond to make their interactions special (whether it be taking the time to interact with a person one-on-one or just being really good at the character they are playing) never ceases to remind me why this industry is so cool.
  4. ^Lately it seems like every freeway in so cal experiences closures on the weekends and nights/early mornings, so I would give the two hour cushion just to play it safe.
  5. HVAC would be a maintenance expense. The problem with HVAC systems is that unless it is something easily accessible to fix, those fixes are usually huge capital expenses---replacing giant A/C units, tearing up walls for ventilation, etc.
  6. ^That's exactly why I don't buy the waiting for a part theory...if that was the case, they would be working to get everything else ready, so all they have to do is drop in that part and finish testing to get the ride open as quickly as possible.
  7. For me, nothing really is better than SFMM. Only bother to visit when there is a new credit.
  8. He's out of luck unless the Niners are feeling generous.
  9. Zombie High? Sounds like CGA is recycling Hatchet High from Knott's.
  10. Worst ending-Mummy in Florida. Best ending-Really enjoyed the "surprise" ending of Winjas.
  11. ^^That's the one unfortunate thing about using IP's: they obviously want what is hot right now when there are so many great franchises/stories to chose from! The Shaun of the Dead scarezone at USH was great, and definitely could have been a maze.
  12. Honestly, I think relying more on licensed properties is refreshing---while I enjoy the original mazes, there's only so many variations of themes to keep those going. Seeing TV shows and movies brought to life is what people expect from Universal, since it is a movie studio. The great part about this is that there is an essentially endless catalog of great horror/tv/music brands to be brough to life to keep it fresh for years and years. For example---Evil Dead was LONG overdue for a maze (even if it is based off the remake), since it is such a great property to begin with.
  13. I get the feeling the real context of this situation was that the ride operators got the bar down low enough to dispatch the ride, but asked if she felt comfortable first...of course, since it was stapling her so much, she said no and they let her off.
  14. How dare they only tease new attractions and give fans a true behind the scenes look instead of an actual announcement! D23 is too corporate!
  15. ^They were. We'll see what happens with the new coaches and defensive philosophy (5-2). ^^Ehh...could be worse. I still remember being at the Freedom Bowl at Anaheim stadium in 1992. That was worse. ^^^Didn't Florida drop Miami after this year so they could add a 7th home game against a nobody? The SEC historically doesn't do major home and home series unless its a rivalry. I give them credit for playing in those neutral site games, but for the most part the SEC model is 7 home games and a weak non-conference schedule (with the rare one big game early on) in order to ensure a high ranking. But hey, it works...so much so that more teams/conferences are jumping on board with it. Texas A&M must have gotten the memo, since they dropped USC from their schedule.
  16. That would actually be better than the "my family comes here too...keep the park clean" they have on trash cans and the backs of employees shirts!
  17. Essentially, we already have national standards: ASTM. The ASTM guidelines are already accepted throughout the industry and required by most ( if not all?) state agencies and insurance companies.
  18. ^I think that is one benefit of using outside properties: people like Fox/Gracie Films and J.K. Rowling hold them to a higher standard to maintain the brands image. The end result is awesomeness.
  19. ^That's good to hear. Will be curious to hear what it is like next season...
  20. State regulation actually works well in California IMO. They stay out of the way aside from the two inspections each year (where they basically just make sure all paperwork is up to date and all operating guidelines are being met) or there is an accident that requires further investigation/proof it is fixed.
  21. ^^Props to them for scheduling a real road game! That doesn't happen often in the SEC.
  22. ^^Neither of those firms had anything to do with the TF characters.
  23. It wouldn't be College Football without an Urban Meyer player being arrested...
  24. Reports are that Bellagios lake spilled over onto the street, Las Vegas Blvd had flooding, Caesars casino floor flooded from a leak caused by the storm, and The Quad parking garage ground level flooded.
  25. Because allegedly this coaster has restraint sensors that showed her as being OK to ride...the seatbelt would have been made to those specifications, so her fat theoretically would have sucked in the belt too and allowed it to buckle... There is no "one size fits all" when it comes to coaster restraints. Unfortunately. No restraint is failure proof. But as has been stated about 2000000000 times...it's all speculation at this point. We'll find out the actual cause and ride modifications in due time.
