Photo TR: The Ray's do the TPR Europe 2010 trip!
Meteornotes replied to jray21's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I've been to Paris many times (it's my second favorite city in the world - only London beats it), and have never had a problem with rudeness. Anywhere in France, really. Well, other than at theme parks filled with children. That's a different story. But it seems like when dealing with most people, the "you're polite to them, they'll be polite to you" thing usually works. Perhaps it's because I live in the country with the rudest people in the world, that the supposedly rude people in Paris don't even compare? I don't know. I just think the problem is way overstated. Likely by people that expect everything in another country to be just like it is in the US. As far as food goes, I have had incredible luck finding great yet inexpensive restaurants, just by walking down streets and reading menus. The best Italian meal I've ever had was in some random Paris restaurant, that we went in because the smells coming from the place as we walked past were almost intoxicating. Loved this report. The Louvre is something everyone should experience. I love how you can walk right up to those giant paintings and examine the brush strokes and see all the little details. And I've been there three times, and there's still so much to see. Now I want to go look at plane fares and take a trip... dt -
TheStig and Jake bake dead chicken brownies

This is amazing. I like when people post cooking reports. Especially if they might encourage Joe to come out of retirement... dt -
I just got home from being out all day, and had to check to see if you PTR was up! Thanks for posting this, it looks like it was amazing fun, and if/when they have this again, I'm totally flying out to check this out. Looks like there was a lot of cool stuff, and I'd really like to try a tapas truck! dt

How many buzzwords can we fit in one sentence?!?! exciting retro contemporary historic nostalgic That is one craptacular sentence! Too bad they couldn't work in "synergy" some how. I guarantee you this sentence was put together in a meeting full of marketing people and clueless managers, and they all had to get their favorite word into it some how. This is pretty much the method I used to see used to create copy for video game advertisements and box copy. And it works about as well as the fine example here! dt

The "I just did this in a Theme Park" Thread
Meteornotes replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
People that were not there will never understand how amazing this was. Especially for me, because for one very brief moment, people bought into my insanity. Still wish there was video of this. dt -

Cruising with Theme Park Review - Feb 2011

The build up to and the reveal of Robb's decorated cupcake is seriously among the greatest things ever posted to this site. I'm still laughing. This ship looks awesome. Love all the restaurant choices. Like you, I agree that the regular food in the dining room is damn tasty, but it's cool to have these places as an alternate if you desire. I tried the Chops place on the last cruise I was on and really enjoyed it, both for the food and for the more quiet atmosphere. Glad you guys are having fun! Looking forward to more pics! dt -
T-Rex or Wolfgang Pucks at DTD are both great. I am also a huge fan of California Grill at the Contemporary, though it has been many years since I've been there and I have no idea what the menu is like now. I also like the Big River brewery place over near the Boardwalk. All the other hotel restaurants I've been to are seafood places. It's funny how there's all sorts of good food all over the WDW resort EXCEPT at the Magic Kingdom. Don't quite get this. dt

You have no idea how sad I am that this was closed... dt -
I don't gamble, so I really have no idea what the casino looks like. I went over there the first time on Larry's recommendation to try The Pink Taco, which was awesome. I went back the last time I was in Vegas to go to Nobu, which is in the top ten best meals I've ever had. I'll be bummed if the place closes, just because of the food. dt

Regular sit down restaurants > buffets. Not even a competition. Just the fact alone that terrible humans can come in off the street and put their hands in the food eliminates any buffet from being good ever. Best breakfast in Vegas is still Bouchon. dt

Boo! That's where Nobu is. That place needs to stay open! dt

I would recommend Animal Kingdom for two reasons: - Dinosaur - Eating at Yak & Yeti But seriously, getting a park hopper and getting to the gates before the parks open should allow you to get to some of the major attractions before the parks get busy. I'd really recommend it. dt
