This was amazing, thanks for posting this. And I am stunned at the number of pictures where Steve has a beer, as I had no idea he liked it... dt -
Bye bye Mythos. You will be missed. Oh, you were not as great once they dumbed down your menu, but you were still easily the best place to eat at USF. The other stuff I don't care as much about, but The Lost Continent was one of the coolest, original themed lands at a park. Even if I was a fan of Potter, I have zero interest in experiencing the highly overrated ride or Land Of Shopping ever again. Sure, it looks nice, but that's about it. Waiting in a giant line to watch a guy play with his wand or whatever is not a good time. I swear the most fun we had there was bringing Diet Coke into Pottertown and seeing if we'd get shot by the orbital laser platforms for breaking the immersion... dt

TPR's Official Australia Trip Update Thread!
Meteornotes replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Update time! Luna Park Melbourne, and BONUS CREDIT! First, POV of Luna Park Melbourne's Scenic Railway! TPR is always known for little surprises on our tours and today we got Wonderland Fun Park to open up a BONUS CREDIT for our tour! Ok, sure, it might only be a Wacky Worm, but it's a CREDIT!!! BONUS CREDIT!!! THANK YOU WONDERLAND FUN PARK!!! Best credit of the trip? Wacky Worm POV!!! Oh noes!!! Big drop! TPR was very happy to get this bonus credit! Next was our dinner at Grill'd. It was sort of like Subway meets gourmet hamburgers. Elissa played server for the evening. TPR was very happy with Elissa serving them meat. Huh???? Oh Noes!!! More creepy face park entrances trying to eat TPR members!!! Luna Park's stat attraction is the Scenic Railway! We got a great backstage tour of the coaster! We got to check out the cable lift motors while the ride was running. Then they took us around the maintenance area. The trains were in great shape, and they told us they had recently sent their blueprints to Margate so they can build replacement trains for the ones lost in the fire. Here is where the brake man sits. And it's even a credit for KidTums! TPR is ready to take on this really classic woodie. Built in 1912, Scenic Railway is one of the oldest operating wood coasters in the world! Old woodie POV! TPR loves it! The ride travels right over the front entrance to the park. The Scenic Railway is still controlled by the brakeman who sits in the middle of the train and controls the speed of the ride. TAKE THE TUNNEL!!! You can see how the Scenic Railways runs the perimeter of the park. After the Scenic Railway, the park let us do something REALLY cool... Walk trough the Ghost Train! Today the role of scary props will be played by TPR! Nolan finally found someone who would accept his freakish size. The ghost train had some quite disturbing props. TPR member or prop...you decide! OH NOES!!! The Ghost Train loading station is very old school. The control panel is equally as amazing! Following the Ghost Train walkthrough, we got Carousel ERT!!! They even took us inside their classic PTC carousel to show us how it works. Dan and Jes enjoy this recently restored Carousel. The park brought it back to it's former early 1900s glory! KidTums is in a Carousel trance. As there is another credit at the park, they opened that for us too! We took over most of the park! They also gave us ERT on the Ferris Wheel! At night the park looked amazing! Creepy face got even creepier! All the rides had cool lighting packages. Thank you Luna Park for a fantastic day! -

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Meteornotes replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dinosaurs > anything else at King's Island. It would be even better if they were struck by lightning and came alive and went on a rampage and knocked down SoB. Hmmm, this could be Cedar Fair's cunning plan to rid themselves of that ride... dt -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Meteornotes replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Thank you. Sadly, most of the stuff I post on Twitter can't be posted here as it would cause peoples' skulls to explode. Plus there's lots of pictures of food. People bitching about stupid stuff always annoys me. I was really irritated with people booing the KD management at the TPR day last summer. Really, booing the management? Because you're a self-entitled jackass that has no concept of how to clean a toilet, let alone run a theme park or engineer a ride? You're going to boo? Wow, most pre-schools contain more mature people. How about being appreciative of all the stuff Robb & Elissa and the KD management & staff did for you that day? Would it kill you to not act like a spoiled ACEr for one day? To be fair, self-entitled people that think the universe should revolve around them plague our society and are everywhere, but since we're talking about KD, I'm just focused on this particular instance of people thinking they're entitled to whatever they want. So immature and embarrassing. I look forward to riding I-305 again this summer. I bet I won't be able to tell the difference between the rides this year and the ones I had last year... dt -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Meteornotes replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Other than E:GF and Goliath at WW, I can't think of a better steel coaster than I-305 at KD. I rode it with the "evil" trims, and it kicked goddamn ass. To me, it's easily the best steel coaster in the US, and one of the best in the world, and certainly was deserving of winning this poll, popularity contest or not. And a special shout out to annoying, self-entitled enthusiasses. Your incessant moaning about everything is one of the reasons why most people don't like coaster fans. Morons whining at KD management last year during the TPR day to "turn the trims off" were exceptionally annoying. Oh yeah, a park is just going to jump right up and do whatever you say because you have an ACE membership. Idiots. dt -

^Funny, I've had nothing but good experiences at iron Hill (Lancaster & Phoenixville ones) and have never had anything to eat that I didn't like. I suppose my "don't get BBQ unless you're at a BBQ place" rule has saved me from that sandwich, though. I'll make sure I keep avoiding it. Iron Hill also has my favorite beer EVER in the Raspberry Wheat. Keep posting the pics, as I am a huge fan of food pictures. Ice Bat may post some from his eating journeys later this week... dt -
Food and Fatties of Middle America!

This was one of the most epic evenings EVER. Between Leslie, the snack exchange, the lounge, and the locals hanging out with us, much insane fun was had. The only thing this report was missing were photos of the deadly swarms of insects that would attack us whenever we would step outside. dt -
Tokyo Disney Resort Discussion Thread
Meteornotes replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Remember, if you scare people into thinking that every time they leave the house they have a very good chance of dying, they're more likely to stay inside and watch TV, where they can watch more commercials and have business-backed propaganda, err, I mean "news" shoved down their throats. Since most people in the US have the thinking power of drunken sea cucumbers, this method works. Open your brains and think for yourselves occasionally, America! It really won't kill you. I would personally love to see Cookie Monster, Space Ghost, and Gamera interviewed about their ideas on earthquakes and natural disasters. And perhaps even give cooking tips. dt -

^This is true, but the volume of food I saw Joey consume before the park was even open would feed most of the western world for about a year. dt -

^As I recall, the first time I was there they were very strict about not taking pictures of the painting. When I visited again, they had re-done the display, and were no longer concerned about picture taking, and the signs had been removed. Not sure what it's like now, but you're probably OK. And I don't remember anything else in the Louvre that you couldn't take pictures of. Other than the Mona Lisa, you can get right up next to almost everything on display. One of the many reasons why I love this place and want to visit again. dt -

Mitch Hawker 2010 poll
Meteornotes replied to Skycoastin Steve's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I've always felt that there are coasters out there WAY worse than Grizzly! Good to see Anaconda taking its rightful place at the bottom. FYI, I ranked The Voyage fairly low, as the rides I got this summer were BRUTAL, and it was just painful and rough and had no redeeming qualities. And it's my ballot, and I can fill it out however I want, and I'm going to rank rides based on how good/bad I felt they were. So there. dt
