  1. I've been wanting to go to SFMM ever since I first played RCT2 (even though that version was kind of unrealistic as Metro, Flashback, X, and Deja Vu were all operating)
  2. I thought the closure announcement came in September of 2005. I wonder if the lack of attendance was due to all the gang issues (red = bloods; blue = crips)
  3. I've done the Universal parks alone (my dad literally dropped me off in the bus dropoff area) and my 10 ride in 2.5 hour day (WITHOUT Fast Lane) at Cedar Point last year was a solo one (as my sister was getting ready and loading up the car).
  4. Keep the pictures coming Bert! This is making the offseason fly by!
  5. I thought pagoda gift shop was the main gift shop at the park? And if you take US 2 to Milan Road is pretty easy getting to the park as well from Cleveland. I have heard that using the Milan Rd exit can be a nightmare around park opening because all of the hotels in the area, the traffic from the turnpike as well as Rt. 2 all merging onto Cleveland Rd (two lane). Plus they were doing a lot of construction on it last summer - although that could (or should) very well be finished by now. If you are coming in later in the morning or afternoon, using that route shouldn't be an issue, but if trying to get in for early entry or around 10, I would highly recommend the Rye Beach Rd. exit off of Rt. 2. For anyone going to the Point from the west and staying on site or day tripping, I'd recommend taking the OH 4 exit off the Turnpike or OH 2 and then using Monroe St and 1st St (once into downtown Sandusky). You pick up the Causeway just south of the bridge and you also avoid US 6 (and US 250) completely. Bonus: OH 4 takes you right past Sandusky High School, home of the Blue Streaks!
  6. Top Five coasters B&M hyper with lots of airtime Intamin giga (a cross of Millennium Force and Intimidator 305) RMC hybrid with wood track (basically first half of Wildfire with the second half of Lightning Rod) B&M invert (similar to Banshee) Intamin blitz (Maverick on steroids) Depth coasters Arrow suspended coaster Arrow corkscrew Schwarzkopf shuttle loop John Allen-style woodie B&M floorless Mack bobsled Other rides A good selection of flat rides Good kiddie area with at least one kiddie coaster Decent log flume River rapids ride Transport ride Park name: Northern Valley Park
  7. I second your Rougarou opinion. It's in my top 10 (even though my credit count is pathetic compared to most on here)
  8. Frontier City
  9. Yes I do! Do you like watching basketball?
  10. Black Betty - Ram Jam
  11. I love RMC a lot. Probably more than I should. But I actually hope they leave all the KI woodies alone. If they modified Racer or Beast, I'm sure they'd be fantastic and I'd ride them and thoroughly enjoy them. But I'd prefer to leave them as they are. You do have a point though, it'll be interesting to see if CF does something similar to what SF did. I feel KI will get their giga in 2022 (50th anniversary). I also feel that if KI were to get an RMC, it would be a ground-up with steel track.
  12. It also doesn't show Firechaser Express. The website version does show both, but not Drop Line. They updated the app about a month ago, it was much needed. Kind of odd that the map on the app is missing the two most recent adult coasters yet includes the new for 2017 attractions!
  13. Fixed that for you. I'd be happy with an RMC Wolverine Wildcat!
  14. Cedar Fair could surprise us!! I have two guesses for what the next coaster will be: RMC Wildcat or a relocated coaster
  15. So I cant comment on how crowds will be because they seem unpredictable in may. But if this is your first trip to Cedar Point ever and you want to get a ton of rides in, FL+ is the way to go. As for hotels, I always stay at Breakers Express because it allows you to get in the park an hour early, which is worth it in my book. These things add up... but it's Cedar Point and I find myself shouting TREAT YO'SELF when I go. I would agree with staying at Breakers Express for early entry. It's a little more than some other hotels in the immediate area, but assuming Maverick is running during early entry (this can sometimes be a wildcard if it actually opens early, especially in May), you can go in the marina gate, book it to MF and ride once or twice (if the line is still short enough they'll let you skip walking all the way out and around and go right back to the ramp into the station), take a few laps on Maverick, and get to Dragster near opening for a couple rides. By 11:00 you already have multiple rides on each of three Intamins, including the two that can get longer lines. This pattern has worked out extremely well for me the last couple of years. I did go on a number of weekdays in early June and late August, but I would assume that doing the same or something similar would work out well for you. At that point, there's a good chance you won't feel like you need FL+ unless you care about every single credit plus a bunch of flat rides. Speaking of flat rides, Maxair and Sky Hawk are fantastic and definitely worth a ride. I've never been interested in any of the other flats at CP. Like coasterbill said, save Raptor, GateKeeper, and Valravn until later in the day. Hour waits in the morning turn to 15 minute waits in the afternoon for those rides. I assume this will be true for Valravn again this year, but maybe not since it's no longer brand new. As with most parks, do the back half of the park first and work your way to the front. Also, I believe Iron Dragon is only doing VR after 6:00 so if you want to ride it and don't care about VR, hit this one up before then. And obviously later if you care about VR. Above all, just enjoy the rides and have a great time. Which isn't all that hard to do at CP if you ask me. One other thing, I love Chickie's & Pete's crabfries. And living in Utah, I don't have them anywhere close to me so I make sure to get them when I visit. Unfortunately Melt won't be open by the time you go so you won't be able to try that. It looks delicious. Last year I stayed at the Breakers and I was able to get in GateKeeper, Millennium Force (twice), and Maverick all before 10am on a Sunday in June (as everyone and their brother went to Valravn). Also, the talk about Chickie's and Pete's crab fries is making me hungry!
  16. It's been a few years since the 4Th of July has been obnoxiously busy. Busier? Yeah. But it doesn't compare to Saturday's in July/August and Halloweekends. It sells out every now and then during the summer season, especially after the $30 ticket special CP runs in the middle of summer. 4th of July won't be insanely busy until 2020, which is the next time it falls on a Saturday
  17. Granted, but every other ride at Dollywood will be down, making Lightning Rod's lines unbearably long. I wish I could go to Japan and visit DisneySea.
  18. Alice in Chains
  19. ThunderHawk at Michigan's Adventure. Only ridden it once (and the only SLC I've ridden) and I didn't find it to be that bad. Definitely the best steel coaster at Michigan's Adventure.
  20. Shivering Timbers, Mad Mouse, and ThunderHawk are the only rides at Michigan's Adventure where FastLane would be useful on busy (i.e. hazy, hot, and humid weekends) days
  21. If what I read is correct, the second park file is only for the water show (which was slowing down the main park)
