  1. I am also a GASM purist. I absolutely love it and have always thought it was so beautiful sitting on the lake. I would hate to see them screw that up. For those that don't think it's all that interesting, I can attest that when it is running well, it has some wonderful airtime (some of it can be quite scary ) I think it just needs to get regular maintenance to keep it amazing. Some years they do a great job of this, others....not so much. But I figure, it is almost as old as I am and has given plenty of amazing rides- so I'm happy with it - even if it has a less than stellar season.
  2. I love them! I don't purchase them before my visit as I try to plan on days that aren't busy. If it is busy however, my ass will be running to the fastpass kiosk . The only time it ever bothered me (not to have one) was at Halloween Horror Nights. I just could not budget for three of them for my family as they are really fairly expensive and I just didn't have the funds. I wasn't irritated with the park, but more with myself - but those lines were pretty brutal. Oh well though, lesson learned. Next year - there will be passes.
  3. I can agree with pretty much everything that has been posted. Some parks know how to "work" with us better. Take Paula from Holiday World. She just LOVES to mess with enthusiasts and knows kind of what to do to get us talking. We like her and I feel that she generally likes us. I've found that on my travels with TPR, the parks seemed generally pleased that we were there and went out of the way to make our visit enjoyable. I know a lot of that was behind the scenes work from Robb and Elissa, but I did feel like the parks "liked" us.
  4. I live here and would love to meet up for a while. As your trip gets closer, let us know what your schedule looks like!
  5. I remember a walk back of Intimidator 232 at Coaster Stock a few years ago and the sheer volume of computers and wiring kind of blew me away. I knew there was a lot, but I never knew how much. That being said - I do commend them for seriously hauling butt in getting the track up so quickly.
  6. This is great news for them! It's been a while since I've been to Beech Bend (2007,) but even though it was basically a glorified permanent carnival at that time, I really enjoyed it. I'm glad to see them grow.
  7. ^ Loved that
  8. Although that sounds cool, haven't they already RMC Topper Tracked about 2/3 of it. If so, I don't see it being converted - which is fine. When it isn't trying to shake the teeth out of your body, Georgia Cyclone is a pretty fantastic ride with some great airtime.
  9. ^ & ^^ also, some relationships are just wired differently. I was in an open relationship for a few years and there were no problems whatsoever. I am now in a monogomous relationship that would NEVER work as an open one. I was happy then and I am happy now.
  10. ^I'd seriously recommend going into the park and checking the lines before buying the fast lane plus. I've bought them upon arrival before and realized that it was a waste of money
  11. Don't know if the other new attractions will be open by Easter, but I look forward to giving this a try (kind of.) The downside is, if I hate it backwards, one of my favorite rides in the park is kind of out for me. The upside is - Mindbender is right next to it!!!
  12. It's weird, I feel like I blinked and they built a coaster!!! Really. I've been busy at work and haven't logged on since the beginning of this month - three weeks later - almost done! I really like how the two-toned track lets you appreciate alot of the banking on this - like in the turnaround. You see a whole bunch of that lime green which is awesome. Can't wait to get on this! As to someone like 20 pages ago talking about Easter Sunday in parks - I've found that in the south (I go to SFoG every Easter) parks are pretty dead on Easter. My friends and I call it our "godless heathen" tour - no fast passes required .
  13. Just wanted to wish my friends on this thread a Happy and Healthy New Year!
  14. The last few times (yes, few times - I'm a glutton for punishment I guess) I've ridden Gwazi, it has only succeeded in pissing me off. It should still be an awesome ride, but it is just unacceptably rough. I would get off the ride, and while taking an aspirin, think to myself "what a waste." I've been hoping for RMC lovin' for it, but really, closing it as it is is not a loss....at all. It's been REALLY bad for the last couple of years and something has to change. If not being re-built and overhauled - it needs to go.
  15. Thanks for posting this report. Looks like you had a very busy couple of days including a marathoning of Disney. I love that you got to do the things that you wanted to do and that you enjoyed your visit!
  16. ^ Word! The pictures posted back several pages look great!! I love following the RMC conversions....this is flashing me back to NTAG. David P.S. - I worked at SFoG in the 80's and often had to sweep the water
  17. This is looking like just pure fun!! Really looking forward to watching it progress. David
  18. I wouldn't call myself a "heavy" Star Wars enthusiast, but I have seen all of them when they first aired in theaters. I think the trailer gave just enough to get us looking forward to it, but didn't give away the movie (like so many trailers do.) Looking forward to it here.
  19. I don't know what I was expecting, but that is one hell of a first drop! Wow. I miss living three hours from Carowinds, but I don't think I will have a problem taking the longer road trip this summer David
  20. I want my thighs to be bright red when I get off. Don't take that out of context Sheesh, you could at least play hard to get This is looking great! Thanks all for the updates.
  21. Thunderbolt at Coney Island - great layout, crap trains. Still, I was in New York City, so it could have been MUCH worse
  22. You know, that definitely sounds like a plan to me
  23. ^^As long as it didn't go, "WHERE DID I GO WRONG??!!??" with wailing and moaning - I'd figure that you are good to go. You have to give her time to process everything - but you do get to have Thanksgiving, so that is a plus. As far as parental reactions go, your's is far from bad. My parents said, and I qoute, "Well duh! We've known since you were 5." That was great and all, but I had an emotional Hallmark moment planned and it kind of stole my thunder. Good news is, they are awesome and treat my partner like their own kid, and treat the neice we have custody of like a granddaughter.
  24. And don't forget the two at that little park in Atlanta, GA
  25. ^^ Like Guy said - keep up with this thread in the weeks before your trip here. You can certainly have a good time by yourself (if you don't mind your own company,) but there are a bunch of us that live in the Orlando area and chances are will be going on the evening you are visiting. It is always fun to have a group of like minded folks to hang around with, and TPR people have always been a fun group to me.
