Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread
CP_RULES replied to OzCatter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Went to WoF today for a private event hosted by Garmin (my husband works there) and brought some friends who had never been. Not a lot to say, other than Timber Wolf is running INCREDIBLY SMOOTH. I was very impressed, best ride I have had on it in a while. There are way too many trims on it now though. Rode Prowler twice just to confirm I still don't like it. It is a lot of fast paced intensity, but that intensity still comes in the form of a jackhammer simulator instead of a fun ride. Uh... I think that is all that is worth posting about, it's WoF, decent day with the park rented out overall. -

Incredible! I can't even imagine riding dragster 11 times in one day. Great pics! -

I think the important question here is where is Batwing being relocated -

Pro tip: We would prefer to see the best of each view instead of every picture you took, that was exhausting to get through! Looked beautiful though! -
Is Zero G Roll scary?
CP_RULES replied to leonardgraham's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Flyers and their Pretzel Loops are definitely the ultimate throat/belly feeling that most of us associate with a first drop or airtime. A Zero G is much LESS intense than that. -
I agree with the vast majority of this. Looking at the membership prices, they are not going to get me to join in on the scheme. I get the business reason, but they are also doing a complete turn-around on what has forever differentiated them from Cedar Fair. I get it, memberships helped you survive the pandemic. I would not have toured all the parks I got to this year and bought food at each one otherwise. We all know you're making bank on your $25+ parking and $9 drinks.... I'll pick my years carefully now.

Zero G Rolls are one of my favorite elements, and I bet you'll find a lot of us agree. What have you experienced in terms of inversions? -

Wow, this is a great update for 2022 compared to what will inevitably be WoF's! I am anticipating their "New for 2022: Refreshed Flower Beds!!!" announcement any day now.... -
Do you buy fast pass tickets ?
CP_RULES replied to Ozano305's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I pretty much feel like this about them. They are kind of a crappy concept, elitist in nature. But now that I am an adult with adult money, I can spend it however it makes me happy, right?! Lines suck, if it’s worth it to skip them I’ll fork up. -

While this has become a bit off topic, I am currently working the Springdale Northern Bypass (SNB - Hwy 612) section between Hwy 112 and Hwy 412 at my job. Progress in the civil engineering world is slow, especially with a poor funding source. Think of the completed SNB as the hyper SFStL will get... someday. -

ORRRR just fast enough and just tall enough to be taller and faster than Skyhawk, the current record holder. Crazy it took this long for it to lose its title! -

Fayetteville is in Washington County which had a 21% growth, Benton County grew an even more impressive 28%! These are the two NWA counties that cover the communities mentioned above. https://www.nwaonline.com/news/2021/aug/22/overall-population-growth-in-northwest-arkansas/ With I-49 finally completing in the region they are definitely anticipating continued growth which certainly doesn't hurt SDC. I haven't had a chance to get on Outlaw Run or Time Traveler yet, here's to hoping the panini press hasn't mucked everything up and more investment is in the future. It wouldn't take much to pull me back! -
It looks as great as I thought it would. A gorgeous coat of paint on a gorgeous coaster in a gorgeous park. Interested to see how the queue experience turns out. I didn’t need a reason to come back here after my first visit this year, but now I have another! EDIT: Talking about Poltergeist not the new dive machine

@Rai Fox You somehow made SFStL look worse than WoF. Magic! I've said it many times and I'll go ahead and say it again: The Boss is a masterpiece of a ride, exceptional layout that uses the terrain to its advantage, great laterals, great airtime, and a nice ride time. BUT, and this is a massive BUT, it has run quite sporadic and mostly bone jarring for the past decade. I must ride it every time I go because I remember those early rides, but the last time I went I was holding on for dear life and regretted it. No joke, it is on the same brutality level as GASM at SFoG prior to whatever retracking was done recently. I really hope the Boss is the first RMC re-track with the steel rails that do not alter the layout. I cannot fathom your experience on American Thunder. I have ridden it so many times, never would I have ever described it as slow. Confused? I guess so. Ninja is a pretty good classic. It gets hate, I am no stranger to joking about it, but it has nice air on the first drop and it really isn't as jarring as many other coasters of its time. If they replace it with an S&S freespin I will be so sad. Respect the Ninja! -

I am trying to say something good, but I am so tired of seeing these rides get built. It might as well be a boomerang in my opinion, that actually is slightly more thrilling at least! I am one of the crazy people who liked Green Lantern at SFMM, but that is because it could actually be intense! Good to see investment, sad to see it is another lame free spin. I'd call this one a gut punch, KD deserves better. -

This this this! I came here just to say this! After the Chiefs won the super bowl a couple years ago our commander in chief at the time made the same mistake. I have a shirt to commemorate That aside, nice report and nice mix of opinions. So many things to comment on. Our airport is literally the worst airport in the United States, but at least they are building a brand new terminal and bulldozing that piece of crap as we speak! Cyclone Sam's is like the one major surprise at WoF, always best when one goes on it knowing nothing about it to really blow your socks off. Glad you enjoyed it! That long stretch of path by the train/planet snoopy/Mamba used to be completely uncovered, those wood awning structures look really great, a nice addition to that dead area. Great to hear the recent track work on Timber Wolf has made it rideable again. Much like the Boss, it is a really great ride when it is smooth. Quite perplexed on your opinion of Prowler, but that seems to be the case for enthusiasts, we either think Prowler is amazing or just meh. Overall I am glad you enjoyed WoF, and as much as I crap on it, it IS a fun park to go to once or twice. The sad thing is, my trip reports from 10 years ago look mostly the same as this, so there's more like asteroids of fun to be had instead of worlds of it. Too much for me to read through the SDC part yet, but I keep it coming! -

Wait I am confused, MaxAir opened many years ago and I was there. The ride is solid, high capacity, and everything Six Flags wished they were getting with the Zamperla models. Am I missing something other than people thinking it is prime real estate? If MaxAir is ready to go then lolololol all those Zamperlas will be gone like disposable cameras. -
I am pretty bummed that this did not dive off of the actual existing cliff that this park is built within... BUT, this appears to be a fantastic addition to a park that I absolutely loved visiting for the first time this year. It sounds like they are adding a queue experience to Poltergeist which makes it even more awesome: I thoroughly enjoyed the pre-ride experience on Joker and it definitely made the wait better. Hopefully they are bringing the same vibe to Polty.
