I feel this as a traffic engineer too, drivers cause their own traffic, there's only so much you can do herding sheep. See that huge acceleration lane buddy? Why are you stopped at the end of the ramp? Whatever. Get rear-ended.

I am genuinely curious, how was SFStL able to get operational approval for a project that included ADA upgrades which were not completed? My knowledge is limited to the traffic engineering world where any work that is done on an existing roadway facility must upgrade it to ADA compliance. I know of specific instances where a City deferred maintenance (a simple asphalt mill and overlay) because the overlay was in the budget, but the cost of all of the necessary ADA ramp upgrades for the sidewalks at every intersection was too much.

What are these “facts” you bring to the conversation? I don’t like them, I’ll pretend they are fake news.

Focus on theming sounds fantastic. I always loved the Jules Verne original theme idea of including the cultures of the world in one park under a name that suited the theme. Worlds of Fun literally meant fun from all parts of the world. My first experience at the park was notably different from the Midwest/Colonial theming at SFStL. While I have made my opinion on Prowler Junior clear, I am happy to hear about the other improvements that will certainly add charm and culture to Worlds of Fun.

^Costs more to visit the park than ever before with nothing to show for it. I am saying that’s the reason there are no lines. A “Six Flags Day” costs as much as a Disney day. At least they had no lines.

Taking bets now on how long until this ride pulls a Shoot The Rapids/Pilgrim’s Plunge! I can’t think of a better idea than trying to maintain a launch system consistently interacting with water. Ride totally looks fun! I just don’t see it standing the test of time. It won’t be here 2027 season is my bet.

I am confused again due to your knack for sarcasm. You live in the STL area, you frequent SFStL, you KNOW this is absurd! If Freeze doesn’t break down during my visit at least once I am wondering if I’ll be struck by lightning next.

Yes. It can vaguely be seen in these images from 1997: Yellow is Zulu, blue is where Zinger was, orange rectangle with arrow is the entrance. Compared to today (Zulu at the very top of the image): Boomerang can be seen in the background in the last image. Timber Wolf is nothing special overall, but it is at least enjoyable now and has a good amount of airtime. There was even more fresh track on it this year than last, got to give credit where credit is due. They are doing a heck of a job maintaining TW.

Went to the park on Sunday for “Garmin day” when the company rents out the park (my husband works there and Garmin is headquartered in KC). I don’t think I could have asked for better weather if I had a weather machine! An absolutely perfect day for a company event. High of 75 F and clear skies with a pleasant breeze. Operations were not always great and Mamba and Boomerang broke down multiple times, but it wasn’t a big deal for our overall experience. I got my first ever ride on Prowler where I got off thinking “that was okay.” I am considering that a huge win and I think I have learned how to ride defensively on it. I wedged my arms between the restraint and seat and never raised my arms. I got several moments of super respectable airtime and only a few jackhammer-y moments. 6/10. I still think Prowler was worse than Timber Wolf, which was running like an absolute stud. Ten out of ten, would ride TW again. Mamba’s MCBR is indeed only softly kissing the trains, but suddenly I notice how janky the return run is. Here for the jank, though. 20/10, will ride again. Nothing much to note on Prowler Junior construction. You can barely see some vague clearing going on from the path to Prowler opposite where these photos were taken, but it’s nothing I could capture on camera nor was it anything vertical.

Maybe they will try to compete with WOF and they will add some GCI Titan track on the lift hill to help the experience.

This would have been surprising 10 years ago. Now that the park has become so boring and overpriced I’m not surprised. American Thunder is an amazing specimen of a GCI, good choice on just re-riding it! Two water rides being closed the weekend that water rides close isn’t terribly noteworthy. Nor is the sky coaster and swinging boat that I have never seen with a line being closed. Supergirl is new, that’s odd, but all signs point to the kids being back in school and the park already being understaffed. It was most definitely not the row you were in on The Boss! That used to matter, but the ride is way past that at this point. It is now there to remind those who dare to ride that Six Flags IS The Boss, and you should just take what they give you MM-KAY?!

I’m going to read this as “Mamba was terrible” so I can be sure to keep my hopes down. They are much more round, but they used to be taken with no speed whatsoever. It basically used to be like “We’re going up… now down… up… hmm look at that over there… geez I’m kinda hungry… BRAKES.” Without the MCBR tugging so hard I picture an actual finale of sorts.

Your knack for sarcasm has me confused. Did you like Freeze better as it used to operate? Genuinely curious. Also, @SteveStL, I’m pretty sure this park will be open as long as we continue to ask if it will ever close. Just because that would be more fun than closing or selling it.

This is California and maybe a grain of salt or two is involved, but they could have always taken the cake decorator approach. If you know you know. Happy to see the event!
