  1. We can play the who has a bigger wallet game, I live the DINK life and don't really need to say more. I crap out a trip to STL every other weekend, my husband is from there. Impressive that to talk up SFStL you have to talk up the city's other attractions. I love SFStL, I have been going there my entire life and MUCH prefer it to WoF. But this addition is late, gimmicky, and you're joking if you think it will cycle as quickly as Wonder Woman. I love the improvements, but this is weak sauce. I look forward to going to your home park, you like going to my (former) one. I think we both have bias involved.
  2. So what I am reading is they are making all of the improvements they announced for last year and are actually going to do them now. Woo. The loss of the tipping bucket is notable. That image looks almost as good as the theming/queue for Pantheon. Parks are really going for that "we're broke" look apparently. Next we will see their characters holding cardboard signs on the side of the highway. "Six Flags over there, broke, anything helps." EDIT Also, @bert425, in this case I totally disagree. New paint is like the bare minimum one can ask for. I maintain the paint on my own home, that's expected. The new ride was delayed (okay, pandemic) but it is a low capacity nightmare that would be better served as an upcharge ride. There is a reason no other park wants one. Are you really looking forward to driving 10 hours from Texas to ride this ride?
  3. Poltergeist at SFFT was recently repainted as well. I am all for it, love a freshly painted ride. Paint prices are definitely NOT down right now though, they are actually up quite a bit... at least on the consumer side. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/09/10/paint-is-getting-costlier-and-harder-to-find-and-this-could-just-be-the-beginning.html
  4. ^I heard the new management is going bold and they got a big statue of a middle finger to go there instead of the Batmobile. It is going to block the path they put in last season so everyone has to use the old one.
  5. I’m not sure if this got posted with all the giga hubub going on but here’s a pretty cool video about Xcelerator’s new paint job!
  6. Indeed. A deal worth buying. If only Six Flags would realize they'd get me to do it if they offered the other options too. Taking the SFFT model as an example, Platinum level is only $20 more which gets you unlimited drinks among other things (and two or three drinks alone paid in-full in the park would cover this). I am not sure the extra $50 for a single skip the line pass per visit is worth is in my case, but still, the option would be nice. If only there were a Mr. Siebert I could call for SFStL... Six Flags appears to be listening to customer feedback, so I hope they see this: please bring the membership style season pass offers provided at SFFT and SFGAdv to all of your parks.
  7. This doesn't work for St. Louis unfortunately either, but they are offering the gold level season passes for only $55 now, which is definitely on par with what is was before. I will definitely buy one of these, but I want to hold out to see what the options look like if they come...
  8. I will have it over a stupid S&S free spin for all of those years, and more.
  9. This seems very SFFT of them... but corporate likes SFFT so that makes no sense. Then again, Boomerang is in the new dirt area... but that would mean they are investing... Does. Not. Compute.
  10. Lets pretend we don't know what the "old forum" is and stop aging ourselves
  11. Your comment made no sense to me until I realized I was in the Minnesota theme park/mall thread and not the American Dream/nightmare mall thread. How is the mall itself doing these days? I know a lot of malls are dead, but most cities have one or two left that are thriving. Is MoA one of them?
  12. No one is happy with what we are getting. We are realistic about what we can get. We don’t want you to shut up, we want you to realize you should be happy with what you have. “Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone” let’s hope they don’t pave SFStL and put up a parking lot.
  13. No, the park invested nothing 2020-2021. I just googled the average price of a new entrance plaza and it is only 200 grand, doesn’t count.
  14. Dude, we get it, you think the park is terrible and that someone should invest a billion dollars in it. How much do you think it costs to demolish an entire section of buildings, re-grade it, and build new again? That alone is a huge investment, disregarding the cost of the new ride they are adding. They are investing what they should, Catwoman IS a major investment. Only a business moron would invest money without the promise of a return. If you think a "major investment" means SFStL deserves something like what SFMM just announced, just consider how that "major investment" is going into a year-round park with the highest attendance in the chain and is likely the only new coaster Six Flags will install in 2022. They "completely moved" the kids area and created Bugs Bunny National Park just 15 years ago, the first move in 35 years. Why not add a kiddie coaster to the existing kids area? And oh yes, "the land." Well guess what, there is a neighborhood that is developing closer and closer every year. The good business decision will be when they sell that land for a major profit. I will say it without doubt: Six Flags St. Louis will NEVER develop into all of the land they currently own.
  15. I’d hate to think it is a GCI issue. I have always enjoyed my rides on American Thunder.
  16. I missed the first two seasons after it was built, but rode it in its third year. Wheel issues shouldn't last half a decade, and it would have been that long even if I started riding "five seasons in." Intrigued to hear what more you have to say!
  17. At least it was not open yet and there was no one on board. Makes the destruction enjoyable to watch!
  18. Fair enough. I don't know for certain, but if we go by the aforementioned "inside the train tracks" you are forgetting Pandemonium (another clone), River King Mine Train, and Ninja. That said, none of those should sway you. I'd wait for our FOUR new open areas to become new roller coasters before you decide to return.
  19. Don’t forget about the clearing by The Boss where part of the go karts were/where Catwoman was originally intended to go.
  20. There probably wasn't much of an advanced notice, but man, one train ops? That would be a complete no-go for me. I cannot stand one train operations even when the park is dead. It turns a station wait into a 10-15 minute wait very quickly. Add a busy park on top of it and you're basically paying to be herded around a small private area in the Ozark Mountains for the day, bonus a few minutes of fun. This pandemic has made life so much more complicated in so many ways. It is slowly teaching me to not worry about things out of my control. These operations are certainly unfortunate, but I am glad the park is still around to have unfortunate operations in the first place. Silver lining?
  21. It seems enthusiasts either love it or think it is meh, and I have accepted I am in the "meh" group. The good news for the people who love it is I have never seen it with a long line. Not sure if that is due to the somewhat hidden location or if the GP is in the "meh" group too. Given @PKI Jizzman mentioned 6 rides in an hour, I'd say it didn't have much of a line during his visit either.
  22. ^Holy crap! Am I seeing what I think I am seeing? Is that building on the right the former pizza place pictured below? If so, it looks like the entire area circled in red is gone! Picture would have been taken from the yellow star. This area is going to look A LOT different, and that is not a bad thing. .......... Actually, scratch that. Corporate hates us. Welcome to "Dirt: A Monument to Land." The new area to accompany Mudslinger, the new ride re-themed from Catwoman which will have a queue line made from paint lines on the fresh land. Boots required.
