  1. ^I don't have any experience working in theme parks, but you have to buy your uniform? So what, now you just have a Cedar Point uniform that you've never really worn? I guess that could give you something to work with for some sort of themed party or whatever, but I can't think of many other uses for a uniform that I bought and never used.
  2. I'm just doing top 5's since my lists get too close after that: Steel: 1)Apollo's Chariot 2)Storm Runner 3)SheiKra 4)Goliath (SFOG) 5)Montu Wood: 1)Thunderhead 2)Tonnerre de Zeus 3)Lightning Racer 4)Dania Beach Hurricane 5)Wildcat- Hershey
  3. Out of curiosity, about how long did it take her to write the novel? Once she finished it how long did it take to get published?
  4. Cool! I haven't read any Tom Clancy, but I never really thought Michael Crichton would get too convoluted as much as drawn out with some of the data he would present. If you read "State of Fear" I would have to say that was the worst with the way he would break up the action with chapters of graphs on climate change. It was effective for informing the reader, but it sometimes got a little too whiny against the mainstream bias. I usually read more non-fiction books about politics and stuff like that, but I read State of Fear in one sitting because I really liked the whole political thriller aspect. I have pretty much been constantly busy since I started working for the summer, but if I get the chance I might give it a read.
  5. If it's not lit then it sure is a funny picture, and you're right it would probably go out. It just looks really short for a Black & Mild (judging from the picture), so it looks like it had been smoked prior to the picture being taken. Oh, and on a side note I did have someone smoke a Black&Mild in front of me on Roar at SFA. They were smoking it in line and then continued to do so up the lift but then threw it out on the drop. So if it wasn't lit and I sounded a bit harsh then I apologize, but I have seen it done before.
  6. I have to be honest, when I saw that picture I laughed at first but then I thought about it and I would actually be pretty pissed if someone was smoking in front of me on a coaster. I'm not trying to be an A$$ about it, but that seems kind of inconsiderate to anybody else who's riding, I hope none of that flew back and hit anybody riding behind you. I think that Cedar Fair really needs to step up its game on enforcing the rules at their parks, because the attitude of so many of the park guests seems to be "I can do whatever I want and get away with it so whatever" and I think that can detract from the park experience for other paying customers. It's sort of like posting a picture that's like "here's me line jumping a bunch of people, lol"
  7. What is the best coaster and worst coaster in the park in your opinion? (big coasters). -Honestly, I think the best ride in the park is the mini S&S tower. Are Hangman and Cheetah really that bumpy? -Portions of Cheetah were re-tracked during the off season, and those parts are fun. Other than that, bring Advil. What is the best day and times to go? -Anytime, as long as the park isn't having a concert that day. There are never really any lines. What is the city of Valdosta like? -Like a dump on the side of the interstate. Is it worth a seven hour drive? -No. What would you mostly recommend doing there for a day? -Some of the flats are fun, but it is really hard to spend an entire day there. I posted a Photo TR of the park on the first page of this thread: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=43427&start=0
  8. Really? I thought Dollywood was amazing! Joe and I went up when Mystery Mine opened last year and the park blew me away with how nice it was. We went on a weekend and it was pretty busy, but the only thing that had an unreasonable ride was Timber Tower and the Disk-O. I hope you have a better time on your next visit, Dollywood is awesome.
  9. ^If you were to look into that in the future, I'd say your best bet would be to look for a sub-lease from a UCF student; I'm sure there are plenty available during the summer.
  10. Wow, it sounds like you had a rough week, I'm sorry Cedar Point didn't work out for you. That's a long trip up to Ohio just to get let down like that, I guess you're handling it remarkably well. Did your brother quit too? Screw Ohio! Come work at a Florida park!
  11. Wait a second, that pre-show was taken at a Six Flags park? Are we sure about this??? I am really impressed, thanks for posting that video of the pre-show. It may only be a wild mouse, but I think the entire ride experience looks like an awesome step in the right direction for Six Flags.
  12. ^I don't think we were calling you mean, just unrealistic. I don't get why on earth getting a used boomerang would be a good thing for this park, it's pretty much the type of thing that is keeping this park in a state of being horribly average.
  13. I think you have the perfect plan to make Carowinds instantly go bankrupt. And Hurler really isn't that bad of a ride, it's better than a lot of other coasters in that park. It's rough, but it gives some good airtime and some intense moments. It isn't the best woodie I've ever been on, but it certainly isn't the worst.
  14. ^What about Dominator?
  15. ^haha, I missed that "This is a really hard decision, but I think I'm going to have to take the Keystone over the kid."
  16. I think the splash downs are cool on the dive machines, but I'm not a big fan of the idea for hypers. A dive machine looses its momentum faster than a hyper and is generally a shorter ride, so having the splash right before the end doesn't make me feel as if I'm being robbed of some cool element that could be in its place. Generally speaking, hypers still have a lot of momentum going into the final brakes, so I see the splash effect on a hyper more as a glorified trim rather than the cool element.
  17. Thank you Scott, this just made my day.
  18. Great TR, thanks for posting it! The pictures you got of Crush's Coaster are great!
  19. There is construction that has started in the park between Borg and Goldrusher, but the location makes a boomerange seem very unlikely. haha, a boomerang for Carowinds.... just what they need to spice up the park
  20. Erik, that has to be one of the strangest videos I've ever seen, but it was so funny!
  21. Aside from what I said earlier, I think it would help us grade it if you gave us what the actual assignment was. I gave you a C, but I could go lower depending on what your teacher was looking for. Is this just a casual essay, or a serious assignment? As I said earlier, without any citations you're not actually doing a research paper, so if this a serious thing then I would give you an F (because if you didn't do any research then you aren't doing a research paper, but if you did do research and didn't cite it then you're plagiarizing). If this is more of a casual essay, then I'd give you a C, because of your grammar and lack of direction with the assignment. Between a C and an F sort of depends on what your teacher is looking for.
  22. There aren't plans for a Hard Rock park to open, Hard Rock park is open. Aside from that you do need to clean up your grammar before you turn that in for a grade. The subject is really broad, and you don't really come to any conclusions by the end of the paper besides a sort of "hooray for amusement parks" sort of attitude. Also, this needs to include citations, otherwise it's not actually a research paper.
  23. hahaha, my thoughts exactly I rarely say this, but it really wouldn't kill them to also remove a few rides, the park is just cluttered with a bunch of rides that are pretty below average.
  24. It has been a number of years since I have been to Williamsburg, but if I remember correctly there was a slide that went off the side of the Peppermint Twist platform that you can't really see in this picture. It dropped down then had in insane turn at the bottom. Is that right, or am I just imagining things?
  25. I can't believe they got rid of the old slides! One of those things was insane! That makes me kind of sad that they got replaced with these tamer looking slides. Oh well, it's still a really fun water park. The last time I was there was right after they opened "Hubba Hubba Highway", I can't believe they haven't had an addition since then.
