  1. North/Central Florida >Ohio >South Florida (Tampa area is Central Florida IMO) I think a summer job at CP would be pretty sweet though. I've never had the chance to work at a theme park and I think it would be a fun job. I'd probably want to work a water park since lifeguards tend to make more money. I've worked as a lifeguard in Florida for the past three years and got a promotion this year, but it was a really fun job if you were doing it with the right people.
  2. I hate to say it, but I think the Magic Kingdom at WDW has gotten worse since I was a kid. The only really great addition they've had since my first visit was Splash Mountain. Aside from that, they took out the sky buckets, replaced Mr. Toad with Pooh, replaced the submarines with Pooh, and created the "nexus of suck". They've also put in some really solid additions like Buzz Lightyear and Philharmagic, but those aren't enough to make up for some of the mis-steps the park has taken. On the flip side, the first time I visited Busch Gardens Kumba had just opened (although I was too little to ride it, I spent most of the day on their flume). Since then they added Egypt and Montu, Gwazi, SheiKra, some smaller stuff, as well as renovated Stanleyville and Congo. Plus, they took out Python! I think that if they still need to put some work into Timbuktu though. Take out Cheetah Chase, put in some newer flats, and put something worthwhile into the dolphin stadium (maybe a dark ride). Overall I think they're really on the right track.
  3. ...and this is why I love living in South Carolina. The Shell station close to my house is at $3.12
  4. I can't pick one band, but I'll name some: The Shins Say Anything Coheed and Cambria The Format (boo for breaking up) Rilo Kiley Arctic Monkeys
  5. Do you feel safe riding rollercoasters? Yes If no, describe the time where you did not feel safe. N/A Has your health ever been an issue when riding a coaster? Not really, unless you count getting a bruise on a coaster (thanks Wild Adventures)
  6. Ahh, Dixieland. Thanks for the preview because I was planning on stopping by to get my credit in the next time I drive to Florida. I'm pretty stoked now for such a high quality park! I haven't been to the World of Coke since they built the new one, although I was over on North Ave a few days ago and I took a dorky shot of Coke HQ from my car (not sure why because I've been to Atlanta a million times, but yeah)
  7. Secret Valentine- We the Kings
  8. ^^haha, yeah if you're foreign at Asterix you're bound to be more than a little confused. 1) You're probably not familiar with the cartoon, so all of the story that is folded into the park is lost on you 2)Everything's in French I went on Asterix's really cool dark ride and I had absolutely no idea what was going on except that I was in a spooky castle. The thing had a little airtime hill though, so it was all good.
  9. I might transfer schools, but if I'm still at Clemson in the fall I'm sure I will be there. I pretty much take any chance I get to go to Atlanta as it is, which was like twice last week. As for the topic: I'm a collegiate swimmer, so that pretty much dominates my life. I also go to as many concerts as I can, I'm fairly close to Atlanta, Charlotte, and Asheville which makes for a lot of really good shows.
  10. You guys are our first game of the season.
  11. Love and Memories- O.A.R.
  12. It looked kind of metallic blue to me in that picture, but I guess metallic green or just metallic works too. I know there used to be three trains, but can't the ride technically run all of them at the same time? I thought that either the hill after the first loop or the hill before the second loop could be used as a mid-course brake run (I can't remember which one). I could be wrong, but I thought they used to do that back in the day.
  13. Woah! Thanks for posting that. I thought the brownish color was the only color Mindbender had prior to the Gotham theme, but that blue looks a lot cooler. I really like the green that it's sporting now and the trains without all of the question marks on them.
  14. That looks like it could be horribly painful and I have to admit that I'd be pretty nervous before riding that. I would certainly give it at least one ride if I was ever at a park with one. Hopefully it is better engineered than the vertical looping one in New Jersey was, because that one was supposed to be all kinds of wrong.
  15. ^Woah! I didn't know they had Panda Expresses like that! That's so strange looking. and for the record I've never been to a White Castle.
  16. Wow, that video makes this look like the most built up Mad House in history. The pre-shows were far more impressive than the actual attraction, they were on the same level as Universal or Disney.
  17. Is there a legitimate news article behind this thread? If so could someone please post a link, because this is all speculation so far with no real details. With that said, this doesn't really surprise me. Kids do angry stuff like this all the time, but their chances of being successful were slim to none. I bet incidents like this happen more often than we'd think, it was probably just a slow news day.
  18. Image of the Invisible- Thrice
  19. I guess I may be in the minority in this thread, but I like Goliath more than Mindbender. With that said I think both of those rides are great and I'm happy to have them close by. Mindbender is such a classic and you can't help but love the thing, even when they are braking it to death.
  20. The Running Free- Coheed & Cambria
  21. Last night I saw Weatherbox, Biffy Clyro, Manchester Orchestra, and Say Anything at Masquerade in Atlanta. I have to be honest, I've been to a fair number of concerts in my day and I don't think I've ever seen a crowd that was this out of control in a long time. The show was absolutely ridiculous, especially during Manchester Orchestra's set, I thought the venue was going to get torn apart. (aka it was awesome). I have to admit I was a little surprised at how insane the crowd got because I usually don't think of Manchester Orchestra or Say Anything as really hardcore bands, but I guess they just really know how to take the energy level through the roof. Masquerade is a venue in Atlanta and it's maybe a mile/mile and a half down North Avenue from G-Tech's football stadium. Masquerade used to be an old mill or warehouse or something like that, and the venue itself is definitely pretty unique. Honestly, the place is pretty sketchy and when everybody is jumping up and down you can feel the floorboards bending underneath you since the larger music venue is on the second story (there's a sketchball night club/venue on the lower level themed to Hell). Anyways, it was a blast and here are some pictures! One thing I wish I could have gotten a picture of was when Say Anything was doing "Belt" and they got to the "what say you and all your friends..." portion of the song and all of the bands came up on stage at the same time to get the audience to rise up. During Manchester Orchestra's set the battery pack in my camera got knocked out so I don't have any pictures of Say Anything, but here's some other stuff! Manchester Orchestra. I was pretty close to the stage for them and the place was absolutely packed and crazy for them. Between Say Anything and Manchester Orchestra I haven't ever seen a crowd this out of control. The battery pack in my camera got knocked out during this segment, so no pictures of Say Anything. Biffy Clyro will rock your face off. I don't think many people in the crowd knew their stuff because they're foreign, but I knew some of their newer stuff and it's really good! These guys were intense. This is how filled up the place was by the time Weatherbox finished. By the time Manchester Orchestra came on the place was out of control, but this is between sets so the place is pretty tame at the moment. I'll admit it, I didn't know any of Weatherbox's songs. They did a really good job for the first act of a four act show, they got the crowd pretty warmed up. I got there pretty early and got a position pretty close to the stage. Downtown Atlanta, and a traffic jam. They're doing some major repaving projects, but it looked worse for the northbound traffic. p.s. the last time I was in Atlanta was the Sunday prior to this. I need to stay in Clemson and do some work!

  23. An Orgy of Critics- Say Anything seeing them tonight, I'm pretty excited.
  24. ^^^Now that you mention it, wasn't there a rumor a while ago that Sea World was looking into building something like ROTM? That rumor was eventually pushed out by the seemingly more likely B&M pushed by Screamscape and Jim Hill, but the wording of this press release could mean a lot of things for this project.
  25. Wow, well I guess this project will include a lot more than simply a coaster? If it's a B&M flyer it sounds like it will be very family oriented, more like an "Air" type of ride. "reluctant to call the ride a roller coaster".....? I don't even know where to start with that statement.....
