Pointless new attractions

I think that's a good point about the timing of it all. It will be interesting to see how much staying power the Harry Potter name will have after the movies are finished, but I would imagine that Harry Potter will be a popular brand for a long while to come. -

Photo AND Video TR: Opening Day at SFOG!
Swimace replied to Scaparri's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I really liked Superman the first time I rode it, but it kind of lost its thrill after a few rides. I don't think I'd ride it if the line was too far past the bottom of the stairs with two trains running. Dispatch on Superman can be really slow and they hardly ever run both stations so that line builds up pretty quickly. -

I was wondering the same thing, but does it need to be able to evacuate from the lift? Does anybody know how or if Eurofighters are able to evacuate from their vertical lifts? -

Yeah same here, the later in the season it gets the longer the lines are going to get. I need to get as many rides on Goliath as early as possible before the summer months, haha. -

March 1st I went to Atlanta When was the last time you went to the movies? -
Theoretically speaking of course, I think it would be incredibly difficult or maybe impossible to try and move one track of Dueling Dragons without damaging the other track. The supports and track are so tightly woven that it would be like picking apart a puzzle with large construction equipment.

^ I agree with the first and the last, but I don't think Jaguar is a terrible ride. It's a really good family coaster. Sure, it's certainly not very thrilling, but it's something that everybody can go on regardless of whether their a big thrill seeker or someone who prefers milder attractions. -

WOW!! Not only does this ride still look absolutely ridiculous, but they actually put in some nice theming! What was up with the MCBR though? Are they just stopping the trains for testing reasons or is really supposed to do that? The pacing at the back half of the ride really suffered from the stop. Thanks for the pictures and POV! -
Photo TR: Parc Asterix

^Yeah, I missed a few credits that day because of the weather. I couldn't hang around after Trace Du Hourra because I had to get into Paris to catch a train. I want to go back and be a credit whore on the smaller coaster! -

^haha, yeah I get where you're going with that one That's a good point. I think that a Euro-Fighter's tower looks really solid, much like a traditional lift hill. In contrast, FH's lift just looks like a mess of track which is probably a result of both the supports and the tri-rail track. ...just my two cents. -
^ I have to oppose you on that. In my opinion, I have to give a lot more credit to Panic! than to FOB. I saw FOB live last semester and it was truly a train wreck, it was pretty much Pete Wentz with a lot of Pyro. Their set was amazing and so was their crew, but their live music was TERRIBLE. I like Motion City Soundtrack, and they're going on tour with Panic!, so I'm going to that show in late April because I love to go to a lot of concerts. At this point I really can't judge Panic! on their live performances, but I think their songs are a lot better than anything FOB has come out with. If you remove "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" from Panic's track record, I think they're a fairy solid band. I've certainly heard MUCH better/worse from bands that are both "mainstream" and "indie", but I would rank FOB a lot lower than Panic! in terms of musical merit. If Panic! proves to be as awful as FOB was live I will surely let you guys know, but it will be really hard to be worse than FOB. If you had put FOB on a small stage in a small venue they would have gotten booed off. They're lucky they have fire cannons and awesome technicians or else their performance would have been worth next to nothing. (However, Gym Class Heroes pulled off one of the best live shows I've ever seen. They opened for FOB and they even managed to rock a cover of The Arctic Monkeys, of whom I am a HUGE fan)

I think it's the supports on this make the lift/drop not look as good as the towers the Euro-Fighters use. Just a dorky opinion. -
It's raining outside and I'm trying to avoid any form of schoolwork, so I decided to make a Photo TR from my visit to Parc Asterix a couple of years ago. I took these pictures with a camera that was pretty old at the time, and it was actually damaged from hiking in the Alps a few days earlier so these pictures were the best I could do at the time (I know they're not the best quality ever). With that said, I had a really fun visit to this really nice park. Unfortunatly, I only got three credits during my visit because the weather was really bad, but I would love to go back and visit the park again sometime. I spent the whole time trying to fit in coasters between the Thundertorms, so I didn't get many pictures once the weather started to pick up (there's only a couple of Zeus, sorry!) All in all I only got on the three biggest coasters, the dark ride, and a boat ride. Even so, I had a really good visit and I would recommend this park to anybody visiting France. Sorry for not having too many pictures or very high quality pictures, but between a broken camera and bad weather it was sort of the best I could do at the time Thanks for reading! This is the park's entrance/exit area. At the end of the street you can see Asterix sitting on top of a giant rock. The park is based on a popular french comic and set during the time of the roman empire. Since I'm not familiar with the comics, I'm sure there are a lot of subtle touches I wasn't picking up on. The park was really nicely landscaped and the rides just sort of flowed together. The bobsled took up a TON of space. This certainly was not a compact coaster. You practically had to take a hike to get from the entrance of the ride to the station. There was a lot of rockwork that they built around this thing. The ride looked really great and had plenty of twisty moments. The ride had a really cool station with a portion of the queue underneath that is themed like a dark cave. This has to be one of the coolest looking rides I've ever seen, and it was a lot of fun. It wasn't very thrilling, but it was a nice for both families and coaster fans The Caveman themed bobsled!! (notice the two trains on the lift at the same time. They were running four trains total) Recently voted the worst coaster in the world AGAIN on Mitch Hawkers Poll. Congrats! It's the world famous Goudurix!! The line for this death machine was really long because they were only running one train and I barely made it on before all of the coasters were shut down again Goudurix from across the water. Notice the storm clouds gathering around the park. By the way: Goudurix is actually the French term for "not as bad as people say". It was worse than it's American cousin, Ninja, but it really wasn't too horrible We ducked in this dark ride to get out of the rain. Like everything else here, this was themed to the story of the comics, so I really had no idea what was going on for most of the ride. However, this dark ride features a nice surprise launch and an small airtime hill, so it knows how to speak my language. After taking shelter from the storm for a while we rode this boat ride while waiting for the big rides to re-open. This ride was sort of nice I guess. Whatever. This thing was sick. Within a couple minutes of me getting off it was shut down again because of the weather so we decided to move on This was the main draw for the park, and I rode it in a hurry because they weather was crazy. I only have a couple of pictures because the storm was threatening to come and I was not wasting any time getting through the park! This ride gave AMAZING airtime and some pretty strong laterals as well. I rode in the back seat and I really wish I coud have gotten more than one ride. Asterix sitting ontop of his rock

Wow, this ride is starting to look a lot better than I expected. I have to admit that from the concept art I thought this thing was going to be pretty ugly, but it's actually turning out to look pretty nice. -

I'm going to the Atlanta show on the 27th, but that's more because I really like Motion City Soundtrack. Plus... Tabernacle is a sick venue that is right in downtown Atlanta and I love going to shows there. Edit: The show got moved from the Tabernacle to the outdoor music park at Masquerade which is kind of a bummer, but we'll see how it goes.
