  1. Awesome! I thought so, but I wasn't sure. It's a great ride. Well... maybe... I dunno... but only on a technicality. Really, Wild One (as it currently stands) has about as much connection to Giant Coaster as Twister at Knoebles has to Mr. Twister (the former coaster at Elitch Gardens that Twister is based on). The layout has changed significantly, the trains are new(er), and when the ride was moved, little (if any) of the actual hardware from the ride moved from MA to MD. Besides, the ride has had too many modernization and just "feels" too new. There should be a clear designation between "oldest operating" (which I guess Wild One could claim) and (in my opinion), the more prestigious honor, "oldest continually operating" (which I believe would go to Kennywood's Jackrabbit and Seabreeze's Jackrabbit now). But of course, that's all just personal opinion... From what I've read, it was only the lift hill motor/chain and the cars (the current PTC trains came aboard in '97) that came with the former 'Giant Coaster' when it was purchased (reconstructed by Dinn Corporation). And the coaster didn't operate in '85 (Paragon Park closed in '84 and the coaster sold in '85) and '91 (Wild World wasn't open at all because of $$$ issues). You are correct in that Kennywood's and Seabreeze's Jackrabbit's are the oldest CONTINUALLY operating coasters (as Leap the Dips is MIA this year, and was also MIA from 1986-May 1999)
  2. Soup Space Mountain vs. Aerosmith's Rockin' Roller Coaster?
  3. In the immortal words of Wayne & Garth . . . . Scwhing!
  4. Nice photos sir . . . and yes Wild One is the oldest operating coaster in the US now (as Leap the Dips was MIA this year) edit: When I was there on Saturday, I did make 2 trips on Apocalypse and Mind Eraser. I took the proactive step of donning my earmuffs on both rides (yeah I got bonked around, but well . . . protection helps)
  5. Ragin Cajun . . . . but let me make it clear, I don't hate it, it's nice for families/small kids; but it just don't excite me. One time I came close to dozing off on it.
  6. What exactly was the "take 5" protocol? I tried Googling it, but found nothing.
  7. Sorry you wasn't feeling well enough to ride any coasters, but thanks for the pictures. How were the crowds?
  8. Typical November day in Maryland (temps in the 50s)
  9. 1. No, actually hats and other ear protection are far more effective on Reindeer's Flight/Mind Eraser/Ear Burner than on Apocalypse. 2. No, if I have any Commandments it's don't rag on a ride just because it's a bit long in the tooth. You can to be funny as long as it's understood it's just to be funny. I should have said in my picture that my Mind Eraser comment was in jest
  10. I bet it would be quite cold on the Peninsula in November/December (which brings the question of IF Cedar Point did Winterfest next year, what coasters/attractions would be open?)
  11. No . . . Have you ever gotten stuck on a ride? (if so, please elaborate)
  12. So I went to opening day of HITP yesterday. It was a overcast day . . . temps around 56 in the afternoon, dipping to about 50 after sundown. Of course, no S:ROS, Batwing, Joker's Jinx and WW:LOT But I still got in a good day . . . Wild One - 9x Roar - 6x Apocalypse - 4x (I know, keep your head back on stand ups, doesn't always work. I did yell out 'Ouch, my balls!' one of my rides) Of course, I saw the stunt show twice and the show in Mrs. Claus's Cafe (and consumed six Hot Chocolates) Some pics . . . . Main Street Christmas Tree 100 years strong! Friends don't let friends ride Vekoma SLC's (shouldn't that be one of the Commandments of Roller Coasters?) Me and Daffy . . . . She's spunky!
  13. SFA addition for 2019! sounds nice . . . . but what I really want at SFA for 2019 would be . . . . Roar getting RMC'd . . . . or Mind Eraser being replaced with a B&M Invert
  14. I don't think the numbers have been released yet, but a different ride was the most ridden this year! Interesting . . . . my guess for #1 this year would be . . . . Millennium Force And we all know SteVen will be #1 next year
  15. So with Cedar Point's 2017 season over (I know they're not doing Winterfest this year, maybe next year they will) . . . . What was the most ridden coaster at the park this year? (and yes, I did try Googling 'Most ridden roller coaster at Cedar Point', but didn't find anything). I think last year, Gatekeeper was the most ridden.
  16. My first Arrow was Loch Ness Monster at BGW . . . .
  17. Too bad that Batwing, Joker's Jinx, WW:LOT and S:ROS aren't open for HITP . . . . . However, it means I can marathon Roar (what's not to like, a GCI woodie with PTC trains in cold weather)
  18. The "fish hook" Roller Coaster as proposed by Arrow . . . . .
  19. No Have you ever witnessed someone being kicked off a ride for pulling out their phones to take a picture? (If so, do tell)
  20. El Toro . . . . last car, second row (for me at least)
  21. If Roar doesn't end up getting the RMC treatment . . . . I'd at least like to see Timberliner or Millennium Flyer trains at some point. Or do you just prefer the good old PTC trains?
  22. Absolutely . . . . Do you eat Chinese Food with chopsticks?
  23. I for one am looking forward to Roar in the cold
  24. Didn't Millennium Force hit 4+? This doesn't have the benefit of 9 car trains either, so I can only imagine the wait times, even with all three trains running. If Mystic Timbers could still muster 3-4 waits this year on its opening day with similar capacity and a much shorter layout, I'd ballpark this at...4-5 hours probably. Somewhere on this thread, I think someone said MF was 4 hour plus on it's opening day (and I think TTD was 5 hours).
