1. This is a great new business venture for TPR that could help curb the high costs of running such a great site. but I do have some reservations on some of the perks and how it will turn out. 2. I think it's fine what you have presented. 3. Honestly? No, not the way it's currently being presented. 4. My biggest fear and concern would be the priority seating for the trips. Your trips are amazing and are becoming more and more popular (That's a great thing!). I fear that down the line, you will basically need to become a premium member in order to just go on any of the trips. That would be amazing for the site and revenue, but very bad for any new potential customers (or some older ones). It's already been somewhat mentioned, but also the added bonus perks on the actual trips would make me feel really left out and like a "2nd" class trip participant if there were things that I couldn't do on a trip that any of the other trip participants were doing or getting. Especially at the already high costs of the trips, not that they are not an excellent value relative to what you get to how much you pay, but it's still not cheap. Also, aside from supporting the site, most of those perks really don't apply to me in the next few years. Maybe in a few years I might feel different, but this is as of today. 5.I think I already covered it all in the other answers.

Disneyland Paris in the snow Photo TR

Thanks for the TR! The park looks magnificent and it looks like a fun time was still had. Definitely on my list of things to do (Paris in Winter) before I die. -
Phineas and Ferb on Disney. But to be fair, it was created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh who worked on Rocko's Modern Life, and Dan Povenmire actually wrote for Family Guy. Plus the theme song is by Bowling for Soup! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKXYxGfFBig http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCivURn9ksE Oh and I usually hate reality TV, but I can't stop watching Jersey Shore...

Universal Studios Grinchmas 2009 Media Day

Awesome coverage, looks like a fun little event (and who doesn't like snow in LA?) -
Well it's already longer then both Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios Hollywood and Sierra Sidewinder, so it should be fun to see what Mack come up with. Sierra Sidewinder is just such a fun ride, it'll be interesting to see if they go for free spinning or controlled spinning. Does Euro Mir have a free spinning section or is it all controlled during the whole ride?

Don't get me wrong, I still like Cedar Point (wouldn't have worked there four years if I didn't) but my point was a little bit of theming can go a long way and I think the parks are now starting to understand that shift in public perception now that the "biggest and baddest" isn't always enough to keep people coming. They have to step up there game a little in order to woo back the crowds. And again SFMM (the park this thread is about lol) is also open year round and doesn't even come close to some seasonal parks, so that argument goes right out the window. Disney has it's reputation for a reason, You can slap whatever name you want to on them and I guarantee they would still be as popular and well known if they were run the same way as if they were now. You may see it as a boring place for anyone over the age of 11, and that's fine, don't ever let anyone tell you you are wrong, but me as a 25 year old goes as often as I can without children (over 50 trips this year alone) because of the level of quality (and theming) that goes into the parks. Just because you don't like something though, doesn't mean it's not true for the majority of people and I do think the attendance figures speak to that.
-
^^Six Flags Magic Mountain also has less attendance then Cedar Point, Six Flags America AND Six Flags Great Adventure despite being open "year round" (weekends and holidays only in the off season) and having that many people live in the area. It wasn't even in the top 20 of North American Parks while the other five major parks it competes with in the same area were. That to me says a LOT about what kind of parks people find popular and what people want out of there parks. Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida is the one with over 17 million people in 2008.
-
^^There's a very big reason Magic Kingdom gets 17 million people a year (14 million for Disneyland) and it doesn't all have to be only for families, if Cedar Point was more full of Maverick type attractions I think CP would get a LOT more repeat visitors (and more importantly families) and that's where Six Flags seems to be heading. Even Cedar Point seems to be getting that a bit with Maverick and now Shoot the Rapids, it's not Disney quality, but it's more then Millennium Force got. You can have your cake and eat it too lol.
-
^Different strokes for different folks, MF bores me to tears and if it got a "bizzaro" I might actually be entertained on the ride so to answer your question, YES! Millennium Force would be vastly improved with theming in my eyes. And The nearly 1 million annual Passholders at Disneyland are more then just parents going for their kids (just go look at how many Disney forums are out there and the people who post on them compared to roller coaster/ theme park forums) it may not be for you, but the theming is great for a lot of people.

This goes for me as well. Like Wes, my poor lungs can't handle smoking anything (even hookah sends me into coughing fits) but I haven't tried it any other way as it just doesn't really appeal to me. Maybe if it becomes legal, I'll try a brownie, but I doubt I'll see myself get addicted as I don't even like to get drunk very often (but man do I like to drink!)

^There is no "the language" here though, sure most of us speak English, but there's no official language in the US meaning they don't have to learn anything other then what they already know. But I do agree that they should learn more of the language for where they live (and so that I can understand them *cough* most of my family *cough*). The modern fortune cookie were invented in California, just keep that in mind, so it's not like it's violating some ancient Japanese tradition by including Spanish in the fortunes. here is an interesting article on them being derived from Japanese culture not Chinese.

Awesome report, I just put up our tree this past weekend as well.

No clue where you read that, but the popular 10% figure actually comes from the Kinsey Reports published in 1948, stating that about 10% of the men surveyed were exclusively homosexual for at least three years of their life between the ages of 16 and 55 with about 2-6% for women (Another interesting statistic is that the Kinsey report also said about 37% of males and 13% of females had at least one homosexual experience in their life). And truth be told there will never be an official statistic as to how many people are actually gay as different surveys mean "gay" in different ways or there are those like that one guy early in this thread that said he was gay but then later found God and was straight and there are more then enough of those out there. More recent studies fall anywhere between <1% up to 13% which is still far below what seems to be present on here. No theories on that from my end other then maybe it's the safe "danger" that appeals to the "straight" side of guys. *shrug*

Alton Towers Discussion Thread
RCFreak replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^No because a lot of your fellow nerds and yourself are hyping this up in your minds and the ride will probably never live up to what your mind wants it to be. And it always happens with rides that are "kept in secret" for a long time. Just go through most of the threads on here involving a ride announcement, there's always someone that doesn't like it. That said, I do like the logo (but it seems there is an imaginary emphasis on "teen" that kinda bugs me) can't wait to hear more details as I'm loving this fad of using more then just the ride itself for an overall better experience. -

^Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is also up near San Fransisco and fun if any of your family members like animals more then theme parks and roller coasters as they have a lot on display.
