Cedar Fair = No B&M or Intamin Hypers
Coasterkid20 replied to imbordisux's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
depending on how you look at the definition of a hyper, one could say that Knott's has an Intamin Hyper coaster in Xcelerator. I personally don't feel that it is technically a hyper coaster, but stat wise it does apply. That being said, most of the parks already have something comparable to a B&M or Intamin hyper coaster, so there is little reason to build another one. -
SFNO/Jazzland Discussion Thread
Coasterkid20 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That hurricane has been a complete cotastrophy! Not only has it possibly killed over a thousand people it left Mega Zeph standing! I'm just trying to 'lighten' the mood by saying that the only thing in New Orleans I wished harm to was Mega Zeph and unfortunately it is still intact........ -
Golden Ticket awards announced at SFFT today
Coasterkid20 replied to a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I personally don't think they got it all wrong. After all they did completely kick off Mega Zeph from the list, which is a very good thing since it is a complete piece of crap....... And it looks so good, but sucks so bad. -
Golden Ticket awards announced at SFFT today

I've always thought that the "Golden Tickets" were a little flawed, but this is seriously f^$#ed up......... Thunderhead as the #1 woodie? I won't even start, but that is just wrong. -

How was Avalanche? I've heard some pretty positive things about it too.... -
Forcefull Woodies
Coasterkid20 replied to benzo41190's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm going with GhostRider also, a lot of people bitch about it being rough, but for a coaster that is that physically demanding I'm shocked it isn't 10 times rougher then what it is. The drop and following hills and turns are coaster heaven, only to be rivaled with Raven's Finale. -
Favorite park chain
Coasterkid20 replied to SonOfBeastSucks's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm going with other. I pretty much hate King's Island, and I personally was not blown away by CP (I do like Knott's Though), and six flags are.... well they are weird some rock: SFOG, SFFT, SFOT, and some SUCK HORRIBLY: SFMM, SFNO and SFSTL..... So My vote goes for the Silver Dollar City chain (I'm including Dollywood in this to since they are sort of sister parks) -
The only rides there that are worth anything is Speed: The Ride and Big Shot. In My opinion Speed is even better then the Mr. Freezes, and those rides are simply great! And Big Shot is simply the best drop tower I've been on, the view is incredible and you get 2 amazing moments of airtime. Canyon blaster is typical arrow with a better setting, and it has been like 8 years since I've been on manhatten express so I just don't remember. Desperado is a solid coaster but there are only certain seats that ride good, and the last half of the ride is pretty tame and uneventful. Still great airtime over te 3 camelbacks.....

Coaster, the game by Disney.
Coasterkid20 replied to EpcotLova's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That game was the s#*t! I wish No limits had the five people to rate the coasters, I could never get enough of the people and their ratings! I made same serious death coasters and still never seemed to get above a 90 I think.... It kinda pissed me off, lol. Man I played that from 1994 until like 1998, and then I remember after RCT came out I found the disk again and I loaded it and man did it suck horribly! -
Worst Arrow coaster
Coasterkid20 replied to CP_fan_boy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
In my opinion all arrows suck, and this includes Tennessee Tornado, out of 10 I'd give it an 8 in the back and a 5 in the front. So like a 6.5 average, and that is the best of the bunch......... -

I'm so sorry to hear that Mindbender was closed! What an awesome, awesom ride. SFOG really is a GREAT park, I think it is the best in the chain, they just have 4 great coasters, Mindbender, Georgia Scorcher, Superman and Batman (Best clone out there)! And Georgia Scorcher is the nly standup coaster that will actually get love from non standup enthusiasts. Other than the Vortex's I've ridden all the B&M stand ups and honestly can say pretty much hate them all, except for Georgia Scorcher! -
Hands down Superman Krypton Coaster, better then the flyers and the Launched one it hasn't been getting a lot of love recently because everyone seems to love to bitch about the "forcelessness" of the beemers, but I personally like the Beemers that have the big exagerated loops that aren't extremely forceful. The level of fun and reridabilty sky rockets to unbelievable proportions. A ride does not need to be intense to be great, it does need to be fun to be great and Superman Krypton Coaster is one of the most fun coasters out there.....

Beech Bend Discussion Thread
Coasterkid20 replied to Jonathan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That is a very valid point. Don't get me wrong I simply LOVE ozark Wildcat, there are only 3 wooden coasters that I consider to be better, but I remember in 2003 when we started getting the hints are drawings for Thunderhead I was like "That is going to be way better than OW, and maybe even better than Raven." Then When I rode it I rememeber thinking "That was not half as good as it could have been." -

Coasterkid20 replied to Jonathan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I found this drawing of the coaster, I have to say (please excuse my rudeness), but so what. It looks like it will be another Thunderhead.... So many people will get SO excited about it, and hype it up so much.... and it still won't be as good as Ozark Wildcat. http://www.negative-g.com/downhill/pivot/entry.php?id=1374 -
Great TR, I too just went to knott's a ferw weeks ago, and what I find funny in the last 4 years I've gone to knott's at least once a year, this time I went twice in the matter of like 4 months and at the Winter Coaster Solace it had been running basically the best I had ever ridden, and then just a few weeks ago there were 2 spots that had become so Horribly rough I was shocked. I was shocked that it had gone from being the best and smoothest in years to the worst and roughest in years. But in there defense knotts does run the CRAP out of that coaster, every time I've gone it has been open ALL day and 90% of the time running both trains.....

Wooden coasters
Coasterkid20 replied to AllisonY2K's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A rought wooden coaster in my opinion is something that shakes violently, or jolts you violently to where it actually makes you have a REALLY bad headache or leaves you with mutiple bruises. I can find positives in wooden coasters almost all the time but there are 2 that come to mind that sucked so bad that it hurt and was completely unpleasent. One being Mega Zeph and SFNO, I had heard the coaster term "shuffle" and knew what itr meant but I thought it was a word for used by complaining coaster people. That ride just SHOOK so bad through all of the turns and hills it made you stomach and head hurt. The other one being Raging Wolf Bobs, at least the first half. The second half was perfectly smooth but completely BORING. I hate that coaster. However some rides that people are calling "rough" really are not by my standards. GhostRider is one that people are raggin on all the time, when it warms up it goes SOOO fast through the 'drop' and following hills that it throws you around a lot but it really isn't rough, it is just demanding because the lateral g's and negative g's can become pretty damn intense. -
Photo TR: Holiday World & Indiana Beach
Coasterkid20 replied to Real's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I'm glad someone else was able to experience the amazingness of Holiday World, and enjoy there 2 top 5 wooden coasters. Raven for the last 3 years has either been my personal number one or tied for number one. Last year after Legend got retracked it went from a top 10 to a top 3 wooden coaster, the back seat in that really is incredible, and Legend is just such a long and active coaster with so much going on that retracking that first drop made it even better! -
Coasters at Night
Coasterkid20 replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
GhostRider. At night it becomes so INSANE and disorienting, not to mention that it has amazing airtime and laterals. -
I'm planning a 11 day outing next year and was kinda curious to see what everyone has to say about some coasters: Silver Comet, Martin's Fantasy Island Comet, Great Escape Great White, Morey's Piers J2, Clementon Lightning Racer and Wildcat at Hersheypark Just some that I don't seem to hear to much about, thanks.

If it isn't a weekend you should be fine. I'm not sure if school is in session during that time, but if it is the weekdays are very mild, and most of the lines are walk ons. If you are able to experience the EXTREMELY rare GhostRider Walk-on be very happy, in the 6 visits to the park I've had it has only happened to me once and it was the best moment of my life.

When I rode it the last weekend in 2003 I MUCH preferred the front, the airtime was really great, and the laterals were fabulous. I think that coaster for being the size that it is gives a very "full-size" feel to it.
