  1. You know I heard someone say that Six Flags was going to level the place, and build a completely new park. Something about "starting with a clean slate........."
  2. I agree with Elissa, Branson is a simple coaster MUST! I havn't ridden powderkeg yet (like that's a surprise) but Wildfire is one of the best coasters in the country, and arguably the most underrated. And Ozark Wildcat is pure wooden goodness, it has TONS more airtime, and a lot more varying intensities of airtime than Thunderhead did, and Celebration City is a awesome park. Personally I'd skip SFStL and just spend a couple days in branson, even though you'll miss out on like 6 credits, the rides in Branson are much better than SF.
  3. Am I the only one NOT surprised how slow it slows down on the brake run? I personally figured when they annouced that the brakes would be on HEAVY so you didn't get violent airtime. I personally have never been excited and never will be excited about it, it could be good but ehh...
  4. After I saw your takes on Cyclops I knew I had to go to the dells as soon as I could, now I'm kind of glad I didn't last year since they obviously wouldn't have had Hades.
  5. Without a doubt Cornball gets the award of the most crammed of the two of them. Although I think technically NMR delivers a more intense ride all around, Cornball can deliver some mad airtime when it wants to but unfortunately when I rode it last year it didn't. It had been my #1 for 2 years straight but after last year Raven bitched slapped it......
  6. Just for curiosity what is you current take on Hades? Personally I'm dying to ride it, but I don't want it to suck because we need wooden coasters that actually ride like wooden coasters! Not that stupid fake "wooden coasters" over at GCI
  7. Thanks, I will move it to the 20t. It's kind of funny, I'm getting WAY to excited about going to magic mountain!
  8. I remember loving that little park, I remember thinking that lightning bolt even after the addition was a decent ride, I vagually remember catching some decent air in the back of the train on the double down first drop. I have to say I am happy to be one of the lucky few who had ridden all 3 stages of the ride. Indoor, outdoor, and outdoor with extension. Indoor wasn't that bad, it was supposed to be themed as flying around vegas but it just kinda ended up looking like a bunch of optical lights. Sad to see it go, the log flume was surprisingly good.
  9. I'm currently planning a trip with my friends to visit Magic Mountain and I was wondering which days would be better, at least what days would most likely have the shortest crowds. I was thinking either the 20 & 21 of May, or Memorial Day Weekend. I'm more interested in finding out which days are going to be less misserable. JK
  10. I've never been on RRC or Storm Runner, but I've been on my fair share of launched coasters, and I've been on Xcelerator. Xcelerators launch is really fast and really intense, but for novices like yourself you might be freaked out by just looking at it, since the launch is so instantaneous. It may be fast and intense but man coastering just doesn't get any better than that, oh wait the top hat!
  11. I agree again, I think that is why I like the Branson parks so much, they are more focussed on the experience then the count of rides, CP just seems to be focussed on getting as many people into the park as they can fit, and then manage them efficiently (3 trains on corkscrew still blows me away, seems borderline pointless, but hey!) SFMM on the other hand.........
  12. Great TR, gotta love the New Mexico Rattler, I think pound for pound it is one of the most intense coasters out there, for only being 80' tall and only 2750' long it packs one hell of a mean punch, almost as well as Raven. At least you got to the park with no crowds, I went in 2003 on the second to last day of closing and man the wait for the front was like 50 minutes and the back was like 40 minutes. But it is good to know that Cliff's investment has paid off!
  13. Mine are: Millenium Force B+ Raptor B+ Blue Streak B Wicked Twister C+ Gemini C+ Disaster Transport C Magnum XL-200 C Wildcat C Corkscrew C- Mantis C- Cedar Creek Mine Ride D+ Mean Streak D Iron Dragon D Top Thrill Dragster was closed when I went 2 years ago, and I'm not sure if I'll go back. Hey rob, look at a couple of parks with only 2 coasters: IE Holiday World Raven A+ Legend A It really sucks that that big a park, with that much hype just doesn't have that good of rides.
  14. OH MY GOD! I completely agree, I was wondering if I was weird. For a park with so many coasters none of which are really outstanding, even Millenium Force isn't that great.
  15. Personally the height factor has a negative impact on the coasters I've ridden. The only coasters in my top ten that goes over 200 feet are Xcelerator and Phantom's Revenge, and technically PR only drops over 200 feet. I think riding a coaster over 700 feet would be pointless. I'd rather see Stratosphere strap a big free fall ride to the side of the tower and drop you over 700 feet Intamin style, that way you can tak in the view and then feel like what it would be to fall from the top of Stratosphere. I don't think they'd ever do that since Big Shot is neatly placed at the very top
  16. The fishhook coaster for the Stratosphere in Vegas, it was supposed to go up the side of the stratosphere drop down pull out, go across the strip and go up another hill which went beyond 90 degrees. It looked like a giant fishook. The residents nearby didn't want all that noise so it got vetoed and they started putting more rides on the top.
  17. I'm a huge fan of repeat visits to awesome parks and awesome rides. While others are off credit whoring themselves at a little podunk park with a crappy Zyklon and a Miler coaster. I go to a park that I've been to before and ride the awesome rides there. and I don't count anymore, I used to but I stopped. Ghostrider: at least 70 (3 straight years of WCS) Xcelerator: 60ish Raven: at least 60 Legend: at least 50 Cornball Express: 45ish Ozark Wildcat: 30-40 Wildfire: 25 Villain (2003 one day visit) at least 20 Rampage (one day): 20 Speed: The Ride (this over 2/3 of this is when they used to do double rides.) over 200 Those are my highest numbers, but I have probably about 10 more that I've ridden between 10-20 times
  18. Hands down Visionland this year!!!!! I was there, happily waiting for my next awesome front seat ride on Ra mpage, when this guy at the back of the train threw a big stuffed animal over the track while the train was traveling the course. The only problem is when he threw he didn't throw hard enough and the big stuffed animal landed in the dead center of the track. Like the idiot he was, he jumped over the air gates, jumped down into the the track got the animal, placed it out of the way and then returned to his original position. I was in awe anyways, and then all the ride ops did was "hey". I've seen people thrown out of a ride for throwing a small stuffed animal over the tracks in the station, and rightfully they should. Unfortunately it gets me wondering, maybe it aould have been better if the train had hit him because he clearly was not the brightest bulb in the lamp. Hmm.... stupid visionland, incompentent employees.
  19. I think I've only been on woodies in the rain. Ghostrider, Ozark Wildcat, Thunderhead and Raven / legend (I think it might have just been sprinkling) Of all the ones the ride I liked the least in the rain was Thunderhead, it didn't seem to go any faster and it hurt like a bitch since we sat in the front. The best has to go to Ozark Wildcat in 2003, that was just an amazing day and the rain just added to the atmosphere of the park.
  20. My vote goes to the one at SFOG, it just seemed to be the most demanding and forceful, I felt like it is the most intense of the ones I've been on, but the ones at SFGAm and SFMM are pretty dang good too.
  21. I'm actually going to seperate some of my Batmans for my list. 1. Raptor 2. B:TR: SFOG,SFMM,SFGA 3. Silver Bullet 4. Wicked Twister 5. Deja Vu 6. Other Impulses 7. B:TR: SFStL 8. B:TR: SFOT 9. B:TR SFNO 10. SLC's. Call me crazy but I definately been on better Batman: The Rides, the worst being the one at Six Flags New Orleans, it just seemed less intense and slow, and the one at Six Flags Over Texas was the roughest of them (at least to me)
  22. I personally don't know what to make of that coaster, it just seems well.... weird. I realize the limitations and I'm not saying weird in a bad way, but it just seems weird, especially the retraints. They almost look like a B&M and Togo love child.
  23. You could always go to Six Flags New Orleans, but personally I wouldn't suggest that, it really is a crappy park with crappy coasters.
  24. Memphis- I mentioned T@ several pages back, man that coaster is a WHOLE lot of awful.
