Neutuered Coasters
Coasterkid20 replied to Stitch's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Am I the only person who thinks that for being 7 years old, running a heavier train than most woodies (hello it has a full extra car), and running year round GhostRider is still a GREAT ride. I think ya'll are spoiled, seriously you can take a 2 hour trip to Knott's any day you want. I only go once a year and think Knott's is a great park. I just don't see why everyone is bitching about it so bad . Granted the first time I rode GhostRider was in 2002, but even if it is "running bad" it is still better than most. -
I'm going to have to find some way to go this year, the Branson Parks are the only parks that I have been to that can compete with how truly awesome Holiday world is. The parks are clean, the staff is extremely firendly and each park has a Top Ten Coaster in my opinion. Hopefully Powderkeg will be one also, but I have my doubts.

Thank you! Well It is official, I'm going to Geauga Lake this season! Maybe big dipper will actually be a good ride this year. Even with being retracked Raging Wolf Bobs will suck ass. I agree with you Elissa, why the hell did Cedar Fair decide to keep those sucky ass trains on such an awesome ride, and the even bigger mystery for me is Why did Cedar Fair bye the old Legend train to run on Raging Wolf Bobs.

Favorite Woodie in Indiana?
Coasterkid20 replied to Coasterkid20's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I HATE anticipointment, it has reared its head 3 brutal times for me (Millenium Force, Shivering Timbers and Thunderhead) I was so psyched up for all of them that when I rode them I was all "That wasn't that good." Beleiving that a coaster is going to be so otherworldly good just kills some coasters...... -
Poll: Favorite Inversion?

Personal tie between Loop and Zero G, certain loops are just plain ecstacy. -
Favorite Woodie in Indiana?
Coasterkid20 replied to Coasterkid20's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Until this season Cornball Express was my number one coaster on the planet. But then the 2004 season just sucked, and Cornball wasn't delivering 1/2 the air of what it had the 2 years before. I know it seems rash to make it go down so far on my list by one bad year, but Raven took the spot this year for the fact that it is the only woodie I've been on with that flawless pacing. I will have to say after this years back seat ride in Legend I was tempting it as the best woodie.... -
This is a cool poll I thought of. PLEASE ONLY TAKE IF YOU'VE RIDDEN ALL OF THE COASTERS! My vote goes for Raven, you just can't get wood to be any better than that.

I agree with Elissa, I live in PHX and we usually only stop if the car is running low on gas. My only warning is be cautious of Houston's Traffic, when I was there driving on a friday at about 1 it was hell. Houston in general sucks, but everything else in Texas is very negotiable. Allow enough time for SFOT I'd say at least a day if you want a full experience for the place, cause SFOT really is an awesome six flags with a lot of awesome coasters. SFFT is pretty much a one coaster park for me (Superman) so in reality you probably could do half a day there and half a day at Sea World because the lines at SFFT aren't to bad.

Knotts: Potential for Greatness
Coasterkid20 replied to ed_orangeco_cali's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll come out and say it: I love Knott's, some people on this site live within an hour drive and have the ability to go there a lot, but I don't so the flaws one encounters on a trip there are not over any ride at SFMM three fold. Knott's has less than 1/2 of the coasters that SFMM has and yet it has 2 of my top ten, and 2 strong rides(Silver Bullet and Montezooma's Revenge). SFMM has a bunch of strong rides (Goliath, X, Deja Vu (hey I liked it) Riddler, Batman, maybe Scream! (haven't ridden it)) but none of those can compare to GhostRider or Xcelerator. The main thing that I like Knott's fors is GhostRider, it is an awesome wooden coaster (some don't agree) and Magic Mountain does not have that, and I doubt ever will have that. -
My only input is don't go there thinking that it is a small sized park, when I first went I was floored by how long it took us to walk from Thunderhead to Tennessee Tornado. The park is kind of an upside down 'T' shape, and Thunderhead is WAY to the Left and Tennessee Tornado is way in the back so don't go back and forth between TT and Thunderhead to much cause you'll be beat!

It is not the best inverted out there, isn't the worst, and If I personally can't consider it all weak or all forceful, certain elements are forceful some aren't. The loop is a very good loop, the overbank isn't forceful but fun, the cobra roll is well, pretty weak, the inline twist is the worst on an Inverted that I've been on. The flatspins are pretty typical B&M flatspins in my opinion, but the only part that I would call intense is the helix. The helix almost has to much power to where it almost begins to hurt at the end (especially towards the front of the train). I wouldn't call it weak or intense, it has some awesome elements, and it also has some complete crap elements.

Underrated Parks
Coasterkid20 replied to What Now's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Silver Dollar City and Celebration City, of the parks I've been to they are the only ones that can compete with Holiday World's friendliness and cleanliness. Not to mention they are gorgeous parks. -
Best Coaster at SFOG
Coasterkid20 replied to ttowncoasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I say anything designed by B&M or Schwarzkopf is the best ride, they are all so good it is hard for me to pick. If I had a gun held to my head I'd probably lean towards Scorcher because it is such a great ride, and this is coming from a person that is not and never has been a "stand up" fan. -
B&M vs Intamin

How can you say Hydra is crappy, it hasn't even opened yet! -
Most underated woodies
Coasterkid20 replied to Coasterkid20's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes I have ridden Thunderhead, making comparisons before riding both is idiotic so since I have ridden both I have the right to compare them. I have ridden Thunderhead on a hot, muggy Tennessee day, in the rain and in the shine, early and late (total of about 15 times). And I have ridden Ozark Wildcat in the dark, in the rain, in the dark while it was raining and on an extremely muggy day and Ozark Wildcat is in my opinion is so much better. In 2003 I rode OW and was blown away, and when I followed the construction of Thunderhead I got really pumped for it because it looked like it would be such an awesome ride, and better than Ozark, but when I rode it last July I was horribly dissapointed. Don't get me wrong Thunderhead is an awesome ride, just not that awesome. -
Most underated woodies
Coasterkid20 replied to Coasterkid20's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yay! Someone who agrees that Ozark Wildcat is one kick ass woodie. Why is everyone so damn hyped up about Thunderhead when Ozark Wildcat is just sitting calmly in Branson with so much more airtime and so much more forces than Thunderhead. I also agree with the fact that Legend is underated, although it may be ranked like #5 it is WAY better than Shivering Timbers, it actually has lateral g's and not just in an overly rough piece of crap finale like ST. Plus last Year with the retracking of the first drop, the back seat was out of this world. I almost tempted liking Legend more than Raven for a couple of minutes. I also think that New Mexico Rattler is underrated, way better than a lot of the top 20. -
Worst Coaster Ever?
Coasterkid20 replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
HELLO have y'all forgotten about the most evil letter and number combination on the face of the planet! T2! Although Raging Wolf Bobs is pretty damn shitty too..... Even after they retrack that thing it will go from being the most unpleasant wooden coaster to the most boring wooden coaster. I never thought I'd say this but I'd prefer it if Geauga Lake put in a second Boomerang! -
Yeah but California Screamin' isn't in the gorgeous Ozarks...... SDC has another hit on there hands! I hope with all my might I can go back this year to get my ride on Powder Keg, Wildfire and Ozark Wildcat are both in my top ten list, so if Powder Keg is half as good as it looks Branson will be my Heaven on earth. Wait a minute, Holiday World is my heaven on earth so Branson will be my backup in case (god forbid) Holiday World goes to hell in a handbasket.

Most underated woodies
Coasterkid20 replied to Coasterkid20's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I rode it last year to and was a bit suprised, I was expecting total crap and it really wasn't, it is just so tragic...... that ride has so much potential.... the first and second drops were awesome but everything after that Six Flags had to go and brake..... -
So what is everyone's most underated woody? I personally have run into some gems that have climbed to the top of my charts and yet seemed to be ignored by everyone else, or at least not as well thought of as they should be. My personal most underated is Ozark Wildcat at Celebration City in Branson. That coaster has some insane banking, 8 moments of forceful airtime and actually has some powerful lateral g's (at least for GCI ) ! It can kick that pile of wood's ass in Pigeon Forge!

I personally think that in some cases this Coaster Solace was the best of the last three because in 2003 instead of any good ERT in the morning we got those damn boring "behind the scenes tours" and this year around the lines for ERT were a lot shorter than 2004, on FRI night ERT for the Radisson NO one was riding anything! It was a walk on for Ghostrider back seat. I also have to agree with you that I don't think Knott's are capacity masters by any means especially when compared to Cedar Point (3 trains on corkscrew!) but they seemed a lot more efficient. This year was a vast imporvement over last years, they were spitting out Ghostrider trains faster than I had ever seen before (occasionaly sending the next train out right after the other train would pass the block. And they actually did add the second train to Xcelerator later in the day (around 12 maybe), but I have yet to experience that second train added to Xcelerator make the line go any faster, considering the fact the ride is all of 30 seconds long lol. Even though knott's isn't perfect I think they are getting better at least in comparison to the last couple years......
