  1. Thanks for the suggestions! I already figured that a lot of the coasters would be great in both front in back, such as storm runner. I just figured the top hat would be pretty much the same thing as Xcelerator, both the front and back giving different types of airtime, but both completely awesome!
  2. I have not ridden Nitro yet, but I have Titan. Titan, in my opinion is just slightly better then it's older brother Goliath, and that is only because it has the extra helix. Both helix's on Titan are some of the worlds best, they are EXTREMELY forceful and long lasting. The airtime, however, is mundane. You really only get some floater air on the third hill. It isn't a bad ride at all, in fact it is a quite good one, if you can handle the forces; but the Helix's are prone to making people black or grey out. I personally love airtime so it is obvious that Titan is not my favorite coaster by any means, but it certainly still is rather good.
  3. I'm currently planning a legnthy trip this summer, exploring a good deal of the north east. This website always has the best input so I decided to ask which seats are the best on many of the coasters I will be riding. Just for your information I am looking at which seat has the best airtime and other various forces. Silver Comet, Martin's Fantasy Island Superman: ROS, SFDL Predator, SFDL Comet, Great Escape Boulder Dash, LC Superman: ROS, SFNE Cyclone, SFNE Batman dark knight, SFNE Superman: ROS, SFA Wild One, SFA Roar, SFA Hydra, Steel force, Talon, Thunderhawk (Dorney) Wildcat, Lightning Racer, Storm Runner, Great Bear and Comet (Hershey) and last but not least: The Knoebels' Woodies! I can take a very eductated guess at which seats will probably be the best on most of them, but I thought it would be fun to see what other people actually think!
  4. I have had them get dry and maybe shift around atad I.E. once on xcelerator my contact shifted down right at the entrance of the top hat, but then I blinked and all was great!
  5. First off I'm assuming you are talking about a consistency in Intamin Policy. Well I am not going to try to disagree with you but there is something to consider: just because they are made by the some company and share definate similarities, it does not mean that they employ the same degree of forcefulness. Kingda Ka may have greater negative forces and what not, but you shouldn't really fault Knott's for covering their own backs. Though I have not ridden Kingda Ka, I have personally ridden Xcelerator at least 100 times (thanks to 3 consecutive Solace trips), and personally I wouldn't ever think it would be a good idea to wear glasses on that ride. The forces are just to extreme to think that glasses with 2 nose pieces and marginal ear hooks could always stay on. They may stay on 24 out of 25 times, but if on that twentifith time they came off and hit someone.......
  6. I agree with the rock, Knott's is one of my favorite p[arks. Aside from the branson twins, and of course Holiday World, I think Knotts is a jolly ol' time. What bugs me is the people that bitch and moan about how they strap you down to tight, don't let you take things on the rides ect ect..... It is always pretty simple explaations. Glasses on Xcelerator: Launch from 0 to 82 in 2.3 seconds, top hat supplying over negative 1 g..... Glasses worn by someone then come off, fly backwards, hit someone in the eyes that is not wearing glasses, now there are 2 legally blind people on that train. Try to look at what Knott's does from a logistics or insurance standpoint, not a "that is so unfair because my friend didn't get the perfect experience" standpoint. I too have worn glasses and had to take them off, making the entire ride completely blurry, but I did something that was more pleasing for me, got contacts....
  7. I've bought all of Robb and Elissa's videos, seen all of them many times but have never ever even thought of whoring myself for the stupid credits. I'm not as concerned with the coaster count as I am going on coasters I actually want to. I know I've passed on several boomerangs, and even skipped a park with like 10 "credits" because I plain just didn't want to go (WAY TO CROWDED). There is nothing wrong with credit whoring, but it isn't for me.
  8. I call Phx my home and I can say first hand that I find the likeliness of another park ever existing is slim to nill...... In the summer months, roughly 4 months out of the year it is almost always near 110 degrees out. And in July and August it is usually 112-115. During the summer, the news shows two things: Heat stroke victims, or another 2 year old drowing in a pool. While I'd love to see another park since CNC is freaking ghetto, it just not likely, the park would have to invest SERIOUS money in ways to cool down guests, i.e. misting fans, misting tents, completely covered lines (maybe even completely indoors), a lot of covered walkways, and plenty of indoor eating places. Also I think if a park did actually build I think they should have drinking "oasis" a-la HW. But instead of soda they have Water and Gatorade. I'm a reasonbly hardcore coaster fanatic, but going out to an amusement park any bigger than CNC in 117 degree PHX weather is simply stupid....
  9. Mine is Desert Storm. Yay Castles N' Coasters!!!!!
  10. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I find it REALLY ODD that Raven and Legend have both dropped pretty dramatically ever since HW has not been doing the Stark Raven Mad event....... I don't think that is fair to those awesome woodies.
  11. I think of 2 woodies I never got: Thunderhead, yeah it had a lot of "airtime" but that was soooooooo GCI airtime, which barely qualifies as airtime at all. It was fast and it was graceful but I don't want my woodies to be THAT graceful. I MUCH prefer Ozark Wildcat, I beleive it accomplishes a lot more in a lot less space with less height and track. Shivering Timbers, yet again it had "airtime" but all the airtime was just floating airtime (with exception of 4th hill). I just felt after a while it got repetitive, it takes out and back to another level, but the lack of variety of elements killed my fondness for the ride.
  12. this will be the like 8oth time I've replied tosomething like this. But Georgia Scorcher, IMO, is the only one worth riding. Riddler is ok, but I'm not a huge fan..... Geogia scorcher is forcefull, but not to forcefull that it hurts your legs. Plus it has a tight footprint, that somehow gives you like 4 healthy doses of air. It is in my top ten. coming from a person that basically despises stand ups, that is an accomplishment.
  13. Personally in general Stand-Ups are my least favorite of any coaster other than the obvious Vekoma tragedies. I just don't like them at all, and I've been on a few, Riddler, Chang, Georgia Scorcher, Mantis, Iron Wolf. All suck pretty bad, except for Georgia which oddly enough is actually probably on my top 10. I don't know why I love it so much, but seriously it is a great ride, but as a whole I HATE standups.
  14. I've been to the last 3 and they are such a great time. GhostRider is just otherworldy during the ERT, and Xcelerator also kicks some serious ass.
  15. Had it been designed by someone different, it could have been really recent. But it just looks like crap because of the incurable transitions........ I'ts a pitty cause 2 of those inversions have never been repeated again......
  16. Congrats Robb and Elissa!!!! I have been faithfully browsing your website for almost 4 years now, and I have to say it is about damn time! Your guys photos are great, and so are the videos but what makes this site is the little comments, or jokes if you will. You can have me busting up laughing by just looking at your pictures! Congrats again!
  17. Robb, in 2004 I have to say I too noted the lack of shade, and the fact that it was like 98 degrees out with unbearable humidity, the untire 3 hours that we stayed was unbearable. I had seen your onrides of Mega Zeph and read what you had said about it being awesome so I thought it was going to be a REALLY GREAT ride, but it just shook, shuffled and bashed you to the point of being unbearable. The park as a whole kinda reminded me of a mix Visionland, Michigan's Adventure and SFKK. It really was a clean park, and in general it was pretty decent looking but the rides were really crappy, and the employees were really dull and kinda mean. It was a shame, the park had potential but Six Flags royally mucked it up. The entire park just seemed half assed...... kinda sad in one sense, but in the other it isn't a huge loss if it doesn't open again.
  18. I don't know how Jazzland was, but SFNO in 2004 sucked some serious donkey balls. All the rides suck and the park has a sort of half assed themeing to it. It is a shame for the park to get lost but in reality if it had to be any Six Flags park, I would choose it. Mega Zeph sucks REALLY bad, it was so rough and the patended Gerstlaur rattle was just as bad on MZ as any other coaster. It is a tragedy that the park is likely to be lost, but compared to everything else that Katrina affected, this issue is so miniscule....
  19. I rode it at SFNO in 2004, and I have to say it is a step up from the boomerangs and the SLC coasters, still has the usual headbanging but all in all it wasn't that bad. I thought it was going to be more brutal than it actually was, but it really wasn't as bad as most of the stuff from Vekoma.
  20. I'm going to have to agree with the Geogia Cyclone comment, it isn't that great a coaster but that hills is INSANE.
  21. 1. Raven, coastering doesn't get any better then it. People have been ranking it lower than Thunderhead and Shivering Timbers, and I think they are out of their damn minds! No coaster has come remotely close to the pure insanity that Raven supplies. 2. I'm going to have to go with Hades here. I was supposed to ride it this summer, but was unable to and was SOOOOOO bummed.
  22. As said before the coaster enthusiast world really is being cynical about this ride. Yes I understand everyones point about we are going to spend more money to go there, and we are more jaded, but maybe we should try keeping an open mind about the coaster since it HASN'T BEEN BUILT YET! You are just setting yourself up for failure, maybe that "downtime" everyone is gossiping about will be a healthy dose of airtime, or surprising positive g's. Maybe that "to high" zero g roll will actually be strong........ My love for Cedar Fair is hit and miss, but damn Silver Bullet is not that bad, it doesn't have that great wow factor but it has 3 very good things going for it that 90% of all other coasters don't. 1. Very Smooth, 2. Very Reliable and 3. very reridable. If you go to WOF convinced the ride is going to suck, it will probably suck.
  23. I love how everyone is trashing the coaster before vertical construction has really gotten of the ground. Hope for the best (Raptor) prepare for the worst (Silver Bullet). Come on people Silver Bullet isn't that bad.... Still better than any Arrow and Vekoma looper, and still smoother than almost everything out there.
  24. Helix wise I would tie Titan's first helix to Goliath's finale helix, both are super intense. Those 2 are probably the most intesne helixes out there, but i can't really back that up.
