  1. I have to ask Robb, how do you think Ozark Wildcat compares to Thunderhead .
  2. My trip trhough the south last year, SFOT was the definite highlight. Not only do they have some great rides, the overall atmosphere in the park is a huge improvement over the dreary pissed off atmosphere at many other six flags. IMO it is the star of the six flags chain, and I would even go to the limit and say it is the best park I've been to with 10 coasters or more (yes this includes CP)
  3. I do beleive that on the orginal RCT the Corkscrew Follies add on they had one of those, it was really weird but kinda fun.
  4. The Qbot was the only reason I was able to actually able to reride stuff when I was there last july, at opening the lines for Georgia Scorcher, Superman, Cyclone, Batman, and Mindbender were all like over an hour! That day was my first experience with a Qbot and it was great but there were a few drawbacks: Line to get a Qbot was almost an hour I did the stupid thing and reserved Batman, Superman, Cyclone right at the Qbot depot area. The problem is with doing this was: Batman rang right a way went there got on, and then superman rang, rode that and then Cyclone rang. so in the matter of less then an hour we had been at 3 totally opposite sides of the park. AFOG is deceiving in how big it was and then it was hot as hell too. Talk about exhausted at the end of the day..... LOL.
  5. Well I'm glad one hasn't come to a state park yet....... That things just looks unpleasant and pointless.
  6. Holy Sh&* there is a six flags that I actually WANT to go to now!
  7. I'll be honest the only coaster enthusiasts they care about is me and people like me, no matter what happens to them, no matter if there are no events we will still be back the next year. How many coaster enthusiasts didn't go to Holiday World last year because they didn't have Stark Raven Mad?
  8. Yeah Holiday world has great woodies, and for that sole reason they won't build a GCI . Am I the only one that thinks the phrase TERRAIN GCI is an oxymoron? I mean Thunderhead does not utilize the terrain 1/8 of what Raven and Legend do, since Thunderhead is just sitting in a shallow valley and Legend and raven run through the forest (raven more than legend)........... I'm sorry I personally hope they do not add a GCI, while i simply LOVE Ozark Wildcat I just don't think a GCI would fit HW at all. In reality I could care less about what they add, no matter what they add I'm going to go every single year.
  9. I am happy to hear that, I remember watching a video on Travel Channel called something like Europe Coaster Kings or something like that and Thundercoaster was one of them, and it looked like a unique and fun ride.
  10. I for some reason have a fascination with the Vekoma Woodies: Thundercoaster, Loup-Garou and Robin Hood. Who has been on them and are they any good? I'm most curious about Thundercoaster because there is basically a non existing buzz about it.
  11. I atually had managed to ride every single phase of that coaster, indoor, outdoor and outdoor extended. From what I remember it wasn't all that bad, kinda time, I remember it had a cool double dip first drop that you could actually catch some air on.
  12. ^ You must bruise easy......
  13. I think everyone here is riding a different Ghostrider than I am, cause there is way to much bitching about it in my opinion. I've been on A LOT of wooden coasters that beat the crap out of you a lot more than Ghostrider does...... Adam "Stop your whining" Hornick
  14. Robb, I have to say the Japan trip video's are the funniest of the ones you've done. Not my favorite, that spot is saved for Coaster Footage and Season 2002, but you and Elissa had some great one liners in the Japan Trip videos. My favorites are: "What are you doing to my body!" -Elissa "White Cyclone" "That definately sounds like a trash can rolling down a hill" - You "Rowdy Coaster" "Oh that sounds like it's falling apart." You (Can't remember, some really weird mine train thingy) and of course your Manhatten Express video is absolutely HILARIOUS! as well is the Togo looping mouse right before the drop.
  15. Scaparri: It is very simple, I'm a coaster enthusaists but the whole "credit" thing does very little for me, so I only go to parks that I think will have a good ride. I was at PKI when I was like 10, didn't have that great a time and have come to the conclusion from several different things that going to PKI would be a waste of money there, mostly because there is no coaster there that I have ANY desire to ride, and yes this statement is taking in account for Beast and FoF. The only reason I might go is to ride Delirium and Drop Zone.
  16. I was just reading a post on an unnamed coaster posting board, and someone was saying that they wanted to set a Guiness record for longest time on Son of Beast, though I've never ridden Son of Beast, and honestly don't ever want to go to PKI, it got me thinking about if I'd ever do a world record. I personally can't even fathom the idea of riding Raven for such a long time, it just seems like even with extra padding that you could use the ride will still beat the bejeezus out of you, and from what I've heard SOB is a LOT worse. Do you consider that overkill on coaster enthusiasm? or is it respectable to try to set a record by riding a coaster for a 100 days, or for 40 some days to win a Nissan? Personally the car and the title are not enough for me, I think it would be extremely unhealthy to ride any big, demanding coaster for an exteneded period of time (exhaustion kicks in eventually). I was just wondering what you all think about riding your favorite coaster for such a long period of time, basically straight through. Even better, has anyone ever participating in a coaster marathon for more than a day? If so what was it like.
  17. Even if people don't like The Legend and Raven, Holiday World is still a top ten park. I found that list to be very stupid, focusing on gimmicks..... Most Coasters (CP) Classical park (KW) World famous coaster (Astroland) Beach Side park (SCBB) ect....... there just si something very random about the parks there.........
  18. I would love to go, not sure if I will be able to (this coaster year is going to be more sporadic for me). To bad it's at magic mountain , I get about as excited going there as I do taking an Economics midterm. Of course this comes from someone who's home park is Castles n Coasters . Still it is a great idea and I bet it will be a blast so I will try my very hardest to go, even if it is magic mountain.
  19. I am a huge fan of Raven, my current #1 but I have to say that I like Ghostrider's "The Drop" a little better, It just seems ever slighlty more powerful. The ravens is pure coaster goodness, but what makes the Raven is that drop and all the track after it, it quite literally flies by.
  20. I know that's why I said first drop I figured it would be more challenging. If it was any drop on a wooden coaster we'd probably see a LOT of Cyclops, JackRabbits, Ghostriders and Ravens.
  21. I have toa also agree on Ozark Wildcat, I think I liked the first drop on it better than I did on Thunderhead, Thunderheads almost looks impossible from the ground but Ozark Wildcat's is just so much fun with it's sort of morphed double down that gives surprisingly high lateral g's for a GCI.
  22. I have to say this season since it looks like my funds are going to be alot more limited than the last couple of years, I will have to visit cliffs again. I was there the last operating day in 2003, so I'm overdue to ride NMR because it really is surprising how good it is.
  23. I found NM Rattler's First drop to be a lot like Cornball's except not as forceful and violent. I like Cornball's a lot (probably my #2) but last year Legend's just simply blew me away.
  24. I felt like starting a thread about the glorious first drops on a wooden coaster. Feel free to specify seats, after all there always is a difference between back and front. My personal vote goes for Legend, which is really bizarre because 2002, and 2003 I never LOVED Legend (still liked it a lot), but thought that the first drop was kinda rough and in general the ride never seemed incredible. But then when they retracked the first drop, and I rode in the back seat for the first time of the season (probably 30th overall) and was simply BLOWN AWAY! The first drop in the back seat had some incredible airtime, and then the fabulous ever tightening turn finishing out the drop had me hooked. In 2004 Legend truly came out at the top of its game, giving more airtime then ever before and in general gave an A+ ride, I actually thought of making Legend my number 1 coaster........
  25. I havn't ridden a great deal of the coasters out of each category so I'll give the 2 categories that I have ridden more than 1 in. Stand UP, all ridden except the vortexs. Georgia Scorcher, easily hands down the best standup. Inverted: A LOT of batman's, Raptor and Silver Bullet Raptor, although personally I don't really get the inverted thing. Floorless (2 Ridden, Batman Knight Flight (before it got dominated), and Superman Krypton Coaster. Krypton Coaster, also in my top 10. I've also ridden 2 of the Superman Ultimate Flights, but I don't have a preference. Best B&M altogether: Wildfire, it really has EVERYTHING I look for in a steel coaster, and there is no dead spots at all, sort of like a Batman: The Ride except more fun.
