The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Gutterflower replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey all many of you will of read the rumors on Toverland's up and coming B&M invert. weather or not its true or not is yet to be reliably proved. However there are a few tidbits around. The most interesting so far is this image supposedly found at the park Source: Screamscape Now is it me or is it (as a friend pointed out to me) that this layout resembles Batman but is not quite the same. The angle of the loops and zero-g compared to the lift hill is larger than on the standard clone. and consequently the finale looks further away and more compact. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Six+Flags+over+Georgia&ie=UTF8&t=k&ll=33.769781,-84.546326&spn=0.00161,0.003428&z=19 i use the SFoG image above to show what i mean. the post loop helix is nestled right up to the station on this model. Now the question is, does this prove the toverland image is a fake or that the ride has been modified to fit in with landscaping/other rides at the park? Cheers Dave -
Europa Park Discussion Thread
Gutterflower replied to Ultracoasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
the coaster in the background of that poster looks alot like Dragon Khan. its not quite right but its not far off Anyway I'm really looking forward to this coaster. I am of the opinion that Mack are one of the most underrated companies out there. EP is an amazing place and rides such as Euro Mir are both unique and extremely fun. If this turns out to be a large multi looping coaster and it turns out well it could just push them into the league with the big boys. -
Hey all I am not usually one to start such subjects that may cause a debate or an argument. but its something that caught my eye (or ear as i heard it on the radio first) Today there was a British hacker who lost his appeal against extradition to the USA after he hacked into US military computers (allegedly in search of UFO evidence). The US government eventually tracked him down and demanded extradition. More info here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7532713.stm Now in contrast there was a recent story where the US refused to extradite some US troops to the USA over a friendly fire incident. (not the first time it would appear) so they could stand trial in a UK court of law More here: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article2343930.ece Now I'm not pretending to be an expert on law and the finer details of these cases but to me this whole issue does currently seem to be a little one-sided and dare i say a little unfair. personally i think they both should be extradited. And in the case of the hacker he should probably be employed However I wonder A) if the 2 cases has been reversed, would the outcomes of been the same? B) the UK is now just showing its becoming the USA's whipping dog Anyway its just something that caught my attention. any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers Dave

Gutterflower replied to speedracer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Right I thought id turn my hand to digging up any info I could find on this new one. The park appears to be new and from what I can gather so far the ride is still being built. This page has various plans and some construction pictures of the park http://news.xinhuanet.com/forum/2008-05/25/content_8243409.htm interestingly some of the graphics show a Stingray and some a Volaire Sorry its not much but ill update if i find more -
Sea World Australia new coaster
Gutterflower replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
http://www.intaminworldwide.com/iag/docu/Aquatrax.pdf The PDF mentioned above has an interesting layout on it. nothing like AA but it could be along the lines of this new jetski ride -
Hey all did a quick search and couldn't find this on the forums. It appears Australia will be getting yet another new Intamin launched coaster. The ride appears to have been submitted to planning as a "Jet Ski Coaster" Ground clearing is already underway. so for those dirt enthusiasts heres some dirty porn. http://themeparkphotography.com/TPP_Js180608.html Theres also more on the rides location and sources on this page http://www.coasterforce.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=22681 Good to see the folks down under are getting another new ride.

Vekoma's new train designs
Gutterflower replied to Gav-'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
actually Intamin used to be the contracted builders i believe. The Intamin ride reference list i got from them starts with their first installation as Big Bend at Six Flags Texas. Revolution and several others were also on that list. -
actually i believe they will have many smaller turbines If they pull this off it will be pretty impressive

Hey all Did a quick search and didn't find this anywhere else. I came across this a while back when looking into the worlds tallest buildings but never thought it would get built. This rather dramatic video shows it off in some style http://www.dynamicarchitecture.net/90sec.html Now i cant decide if this is an awesome idea or a lame duck but you have to agree it would look awesome. even when its traveling at a normal speed (not the sped up videos), Apparently there are now proposed projects in Moscow and (predictably) Dubai would love to see one of these built. Cheers Dave

Fuji-Q Highlands Discussion Thread
Gutterflower replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey all it appears the SFMM of the East is building a new water raft ride this year. Looks pretty long, fairly interesting and is called Nagashimasuka. Length: 500m Height: 18m Speed: 29km/h Time: 4:30sec theres a press release here http://www.fujikyu.co.jp/data/news_pdf/20080514153904_080514nagashimasuka.pdf and new construction photos here http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown/5777/nagashi.html from what ive heard Fuji-Q is lacking in its water ride and family ride line-ups so this should be a nice edition -
Roller Coaster "death machines"
Gutterflower replied to TexasGiant1982's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
anyone whos ridden the ultimate knows where this topic should go. -
Hey all Been looking for a bit of info on this coaster for a while and pics are still a bit on the shortside. but Discoveryland in China has just opened the 2nd BSA inverted (I:E, SLC rip off) http://www.rcdb.com/pd1418.htm This is the best image ive found so far but you can see how much it looks like the standard SLC track. Unpainted? behind the parks other coaster "Mad Cobra" from that picture It looks like it could be a clone of the Shenzou Coaster at Beijing Shijingshan Amusement park http://www.rcdb.com/id2906.htm A bit of a mystery at the moment. but its open now

2 more Intamin Mega-Lite for China
Gutterflower replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry my mistake on the Superman thing. i did indeed mean S:UF not S:TR. No news on the park yet. the website is up but theres no mention of the earthquake as of yet. -
Hey all It appears another 2 Intamin Mega-Lite coasters will be going up at the 2 new Happy Valley parks in China. The Mega-Lite is the same layout as Kawasemi at Tobu Zoo and Piraten at Djurs Sommerland. The RCDB has them up at http://www.rcdb.com/id4225.htm and http://www.rcdb.com/id4220.htm and the park map on this page shows the layout http://www.cdhlg.com/snty/main.html The Shanghai park will also be getting your standard Superman: Ultimate Flight clone and the previously announced Gravity Group Woodie called Fireball. Seems like this mega-lite is selling well for Intamin.
