Pretty sure I got "spayed" once while trying to board a WindSeeker. It's not like I'm short-legged or anything so not sure how I managed to clock myself like that. Same thing when the restraint on Riddler's Revenge clicks up a notch too high (I'm always the one person who has trouble adjusting it right). TMI? Sorry! So true... The reason I don't like windaeekers. My manhood was fine on the Togo standup next door, but the Windseeker was another story. I agree as well! I greatly enjoyed SkyRider as it was very comfortable and just amazing! I'm glad it went to Cavallino Matto opposed to being scrapped. I started riding Windseeker again this year after staying away from it for four years. Anyways, whenever I do ride it, I have to wait for the seat to stop swinging in order to exit the seat otherwise, I would get neutered! I'm sure you may have noticed the same issue on Shockwave when you're the last one to leave the car and Sledgehammer as well when the pod doesn't fully lower to the ground. These rides are amazing but, couldn't they have designed them so that people wouldn't get neutered?

The "Pleasant/Unpleasant Surprise" Thread
Johnlloyd replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
One of my pleasant surprise coasters would have to be The Beast at Kings Island. Prior to me conquering The Beast during my second visit to Kings Island, I heard it was terribly rough and painful. But, when I rode it on June 16th of this year for the first time, I greatly enjoyed and now regard it as my one of my favourite wooden coasters! Now onto one of my unpleasant surprise coasters which would have to be The Bat (formerly Top Gun and Flight Deck) at Kings Island. During my first visit to Kings Island during July 2014, I was quite excited to ride and experience The Bat which is a clone of Vortex at Canada's Wonderland. Considering how amazing Vortex at Canada's Wonderland is, I was expecting The Bat to have the same amazing-ness since it's a clone of Vortex. Anyways, my ride on The Bat was quite uncomfortable and completely boring. I don't know what went wrong with The Bat but, it's the exact opposite of Vortex at Canada's Wonderland. Needless to say, I rode The Bat again during my second visit to Kings Island this past June and noticed it was even worse than it was two years ago. I hope they have plans to maintain The Bat better in the future as I greatly enjoy suspended swinging coasters and would hate to see this one go further downhill in terms of smoothness. -
I'm not sure you understood the question but I like your take on it regardless. You're right! I thought the question was asking about near-neutering experiences while riding rides! But, now that I've read other comments, I now realize they're referring to things such as trim brakes and other things that greatly slow down coasters.

Rides that I find to be quite neutering are Drop Tower at Canada's Wonderland, especially in the fourth car, Shockwave at Canada's Wonderland while trying to exit the seat, Sledgehammer at Canada's Wonderland when the restraint is locked too tight, Flight Deck at Canada's Wonderland when the restraint is too loose, and Wild Mouse at Dorney Park each time the car hit the brake because of the groove in the seat. But, the worst ride "neuter" experience I've experienced is every time (well almost every time!) I ride the Crazy Mouse at The Ex every August! I know that sounds odd but, since I'm tall, the small lap bar gets me, especially when the car hits the brakes or goes up the small hills backwards. The only way I avoid that is riding it with the lap bar partially locked. I'm sure there's other rides out there that have caused some uncomfortable moments that I can't think of currently!

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Johnlloyd replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Since shooting cw's incident in 2003, I think that cedar fair started adding metal detectors at the front gates. Well, it was Paramount who added the metal detectors at the front gates. Cedar Fair had actually removed them from a couple of the former Paramount parks and replaced them with metal detector wands that the security guards hold within the past few years. As for the current security set-up at Kings Island, it was like that when I had visited the park for my second time a couple of weeks ago. I found it quite odd, but it's only because the rate of weapons and violence is going up unfortunately. But, at least the parks are keeping us safe while having fun! -
New Amusement Park in Alabama for 2016

Their Facebook page has now been deleted and the website has been suspended. The only thing that now exists is their Twitter account but, that hasn't been updated since April. -
What is the most G-Force you have pulled?
Johnlloyd replied to XYZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would have to say that the most negative-gs I have experienced on a coaster is on Behemoth at Canada's Wonderland. The most positive-gs I've experienced on a coaster to date would have to be on The Bat at Canada's Wonderland when the train goes backwards through the loop. You feel like you're going to pass out! But, I really enjoy that feel of being held down in your seat! -

If you haven't heard yet, Canada's Wonderland is holding Canada Day Celebrations all weekend long! The weekend of festivities includes Craz-E-Crew Xtreme Wheels stunt show in International Showplace, an amazing Fireworks display on Canada Day (July 1st) at 10pm, and the Bacon Festival which will be held on July 1st and 2nd in Action Zone. In addition to all that, any Canadian Arm Forces Members and Veterans who come to the park this weekend (with valid military ID) will receive complimentary admission to the park, along with the ability to purchase discounted tickets for their immediate family. Also, if visitors show up at the park wearing red this weekend, they will be able to participate in the Show Your Spirit contest where they can be randomly picked throughout the park and be awarded prizes such as front of the line passes, free funnel cakes, and much more! Photo Credit: Canada's Wonderland So, this weekend is definitely the weekend to come and check out the park if you haven't done so already as there will be so much to do! For more details of the events occurring this Canada Day Weekend at Canada's Wonderland, click here. Also, in other event news, Canada's Wonderland will be holding their first KidZFest all next week starting on Monday, July 4th and ending on Sunday, July 10th. KidZFest is a special celebration just for kids! There will be live street performers, live shows, and interactive play areas all throughout KidZville for the entire week! So, if you got young children, this is definitely something they would be interested in participating in! Photo Credit: Canada's Wonderland In live entertainment news, The Stars of the Peking Acrobats show in Wonderland Theatre is still delayed. The show was originally scheduled to run from June 25th until Labour Day. For more information on current and upcoming shows and events, be sure to check out Canada's Wonderland's website for more details! -
New Amusement Park in Alabama for 2016
Johnlloyd replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It is quite sad that it lasted only for two months. But, from what I noticed on their website is that their pricing was way too high for the amount of rides they had, especially considering they were all portable. They definitely should have charged less for admission in order to get more people in. But, if they couldn't cover their operating costs, they should have maybe reduced the amount of rides, the admission price, and the operating hours. If they had done it that way, they could have expanded everything once they began to really make a profit. -
Although yes, it would be nice, after multiple people have asked for sources and none have shown up from the poster, we're pretty sure it's a load of bull. KD has no reason to remove/relocate it, they have enough room to build something, and as far as I know the ride's still relatively popular. That's all I thought this rumour was when I first read about it. A more plausible rumour would be Dorney Park receiving Time Warp from Canada's Wonderland.
-
According to the recent rumors that have been "going around", we're getting Flight of Fear from King's Dominion. I mean, it would be nice if it were relocated to Dorney Park. But, I thought it was a very popular coaster at Kings Dominion? Or has the ridership been steadily declining over the years? But, I could be wrong or the rumours could be nothing at all, but rumours.
-
What will they do on the 3-4 days a year when the line is longer than a station wait then? Oh that's right, put the second train on. Does Flight of Fear have separate loading and unloading stations? If they only run one train with the two stations that might create a line. Yes, Flight of Fear does have separate loading and unloading stations. I think they would run two trains. Interestingly enough, the Flight of Fear at Kings Dominion has three trains whereas the one at Kings Island has four. I doubt they've used all four or three in years. I also doubt that Flight of Fear from Kings Dominion would get relocated to Dorney Park.

Only 2 good coasters. Even KI and KD have a better coaster collection. That's not really fair. Vortex is right up there with Behemoth and Leviathan. Aside from that there's a huge drop off but Backlot, Fly, Thunder Run and Guardian (if that counts) are all good rides. I agree though, they do have a lot of duds. Well, even KI, KD and CP have a better coaster collection if you counted vortex. CW should be CP quality. Cedar Point having a better roller coaster collection than another park? Whoa. All of the parks you mentioned have much better collections than Dorney. If you aren't satisfied with your favorite park's lineup, do what I do with Dorney and laugh at it. It works really well. At least I found all of Dorney Park's coasters to be re-ride-able unlike a few here at Canada's Wonderland. -

Yes, I've also noticed that Thunder Run isn't as dark as it used to be when traveling through Wonder Mountain. Not only is there more light coming from outside, but I think there are also more pot/strobe lights than there was before. As for Skyhawk, the reason as to why the ride cycle is quite short is mostly because the ride capacity is very low with 24 passengers per cycle compared to other rides within that hold 40 or more passengers. But, the short ride cycle hasn't stopped me from flipping 28 times during my 10th ride last Wednesday. In regards to Sledgehammer, the 2015 season was the best season it had operated in quite a few years. During the 2013/14 off-season, the park had refurbished Sledgehammer which helped reduce the downtime. Ever since then, it has been operating more often than before the 2014 season. But for some strange reason, Sledgehammer has been down on and off throughout the days I have visited the park so far this season. During my fifth visit to the park last Wednesday, my brother, a friend of mine, and I had rode Sledgehammer in the morning. During the final drop, it had slammed us down to the ground causing the ride to shake and stop. We were finally let off the ride about 10 minutes later once the cars were lowered to their loading/unloading position. Sledgehammer was back up and running 20 minutes after the slight breakdown and continued to operate throughout the day. Hopefully whatever is causing Sledgehammer to breakdown gets resolved. It's a great ride when it's operating properly! It had even received a new coat of paint and seat/restraint covers last year. Hopefully the 2015 season wasn't the last best operating season for Sledgehammer! -

No you're not the only one! If you had read my above comment, I greatly enjoyed SkyRider and greatly miss it as I use to ride it with my arms in the air throughout the whole ride duration! But, luckily it found a new home and has been operating at Cavallino Matto since last June! -

I agree! Those were much worse then Skyrider! While that park has a few good coasters, it does have more bad coasters in my opinion. Even the wooden coasters (Don't feel like remembering the names) weren't good at all. I agree as well that SkyRider was much more enjoyable. I enjoyed riding it with my arms up in the air throughout the whole ride! But unfortunately, it was costing the park quite a bit as it was a mechanical nightmare even though it was a good coaster. Surprisingly, a small park such as Cavallino Matto in Italy purchased SkyRider. At least it wasn't scrapped unlike King Cobra and Shockwave at Kings Island and Kings Dominion, respectively. The only bad coasters I see at Canada's Wonderland are Flight Deck, Time Warp, and Wild Beast. The other coasters I find to be quite tolerable and enjoyable. I have a feeling Flight Deck and Time Warp will be the next coasters to leave the park as their popularity are waning. But interestingly enough, Time Warp is still very popular with kids who visit the park as the line is usually filled or over flowing with them whenever I walk by. But, any day I've been to Canada's Wonderland over the past two years, including this year, Flight Deck's line has been completely empty, making it a walk-on. It makes me wonder why they don't shorten the awfully long queue line? I guess it's because they have plans on getting rid of it soon. -
The little thing that makes me fall in love with a park is when a park adds historical references around the park, which reflect on years gone by when the park was smaller or newer. An example of this is when Canada's Wonderland added the retro logo to the front of their wooden coaster trains for the park's 30th anniversary back in 2011. They've been on the wooden coaster trains ever since and now this year, they even added the retro logo to the front of Thunder Run's train for the ride's 30th anniversary!

M&D Scotland's Tsunami derails
Johnlloyd replied to UKCoasterFan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
These quotes are from the first article in snoflake15's post. I find this article, especially these statements to be quite extreme and overblown. I mean sure, M&D's coasters may not be the safest according to reports but, that doesn't mean everyone else's coasters are dangerous as well. You're more likely to die on your way to an amusement park than at the amusement park itself. Some parents are extremely over protective and wonder why their children become easily bored in life. -

I know many people (including myself) who've been on Time Warp and it definitely has mixed reviews. So, I do believe that different body shapes and sizes do have an effect on each rider's experience. I know that quite a few years ago I found it quite rough but, since they repainted it in 2013, I've found it more tolerable. But, this year I found it to be completely tolerable for some strange reason. I guess I can handle roughness better as I get older! -

There were walls but, they were for the re-construction of the Backlot Cafe patio. They've been gone since late May/early June. Below are photos of the re-construction fence, mid-reconstruction and of the final product.
