Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread
Johnlloyd replied to OzCatter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
From what I've heard, the Gerstlauer Sky Roller that Canada's Wonderland had purchased, known as Skyhawk, had cost somewhere around $2 million to $4 million. I believe those figures are including the price of shipping, installation, and other expenses. But, I also agree that the Gerstlauer Sky Roller could be the next "mass purchased" ride in the Cedar Fair chain. I think Valleyfair and Dorney Park may be receiving one as well but, they may be smaller in size and capacity considering the attendance for both parks is significantly lower compared to other park's attendance in the Cedar Fair chain. They're a really fun ride once you learn how to flip the seats. I am glad that Skyhawk at Canada's Wonderland was the first Sky Roller in North America as it is an amazing addition to the park. I've been on it 13 times now since Season Pass Sneak Preview Night and I just can't get enough of it. My current record is 28 flips, which was quite disorientating but completely fun! -
Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Delirium at Kings Island and MaXair at Cedar Point are actually Huss Giant Frisbee rides and Psyclone at Canada's Wonderland and Delirium at Kings Dominion are Mondial Revolutions. But, I have been on both Psyclone at Canada's Wonderland and Delirium at Kings Island. The Huss Giant Frisbee does swing up to a maximum height of 141 feet and the Mondial Revolution swings up to a maximum height of 115 feet. The Xtreme Swing at Valleyfair swings a maximum height of 125 feet. From what I've found is that the Mondial Revolution seems to be more intense and enjoyable than the Huss Giant Frisbee even though the Huss one does swing 26 feet higher and spins faster. But, I believe Valleyfair will be receiving a Gerstlauer Sky Roller, which will be going in Enterprise's place. I've been on Skyhawk at Canada's Wonderland about 13 times now and it is a great ride. It does take some practice flipping upside down but once you master it, flipping upside down becomes very easy, especially if there is a moderate to strong breeze. The Gerstlauer Sky Roller is definitely a ride that soars to new heights. -

If you want signs for the all-new Skyhawk and Flying Eagles at Canada's Wonderland, I can provide you with those photos after my visit on Wednesday or Thursday. I provided you with a couple of photos of each ride but didn't provide you with photos of the signs. -

When I had last visited the park on July 20th, Orbiter was operating. I had ridden it that day and it had gone vertical like it normally does. It also wasn't making any funny noises. But, I have noticed that in previous visits and years that the hotter weather does make Orbiter and most rides groan more than in cooler weather. I hope it gets fully repaired as it is 35 years old this year and is the last Huss Giant Enterprise operating in North America. -
On the bright side you have a chance to revive them. I've been to Canada's Wonderland seven times so far this season and visited Kings Island for the second time back in June.

Even though I'm not too keen of the name, Mystic Timbers looks like an amazing wooden coaster! The best part about it is that there will be 16 hills of airtime! It is definitely a much-needed addition to Kings Island that will be using the terrain of the park. -

But, there are five rides the ride scavengers found for Carowinds next year while in Europe. If the park is only hinting at four, then maybe they’re not opening all five next year. Maybe the fifth ride will be constructed for the 2018 season? I wonder which ride it will be that Carowinds isn't announcing until 2018? -
Oldest Coaster You've Ridden

The oldest coaster that I've ridden is Thunderhawk at Dorney Park, which opened in 1924. -
PATTYCAKES, I am not too sure where you are getting your information in regards to Canada's Wonderland only running a maximum of two trains on their major coasters. I visit Canada's Wonderland every two weeks and ever since the last week of June, they've been running all three trains on Behemoth and Leviathan, as the transfer tracks were empty. I know on busy days they don't run three trains but on busy days they do run three trains on Behemoth and Leviathan. It does seem bad at the moment that Darien Lake is running only one train on their coasters right now but, I am sure that’ll be different next year as Darien Lake seems to be improving annually since Six Flags owned the park, which was a decade ago.

I've greatly enjoyed Vortex both times I visited the park so far! The whole layout and combination of inversions was great! I just love Arrow Dynamics' coasters! It's a shame that they've been gone for over a decade now. -

I go to the park every two weeks so, I do see line jumping from time to time. Whenever I do see someone line jumping, it is mostly kids who think they can get away with it. Usually, they do get away with it but I have seen some get caught doing it. Whenever that happens, a ride attendant typically escorts them out of the line. In rare extreme cases, security has been called to deal with the matter. I usually only see line jumping occur at certain rides and coasters such a Leviathan, Behemoth, Drop Tower, The Bat, and Thunder Run. Most of the other rides have relatively short lines so, line jumping tends not to be an issue. I wish that anyone who line jumps would realize that it only slows things down for everyone else. I know they wouldn't like it if someone else did it so, why should they do it? If you have to leave the line for any reason and you want to re-enter, you should just have to line up at the end of the queue line again and wait your turn because you forfeited your spot in line. Going to amusement parks would be so much better and more enjoyable if everyone just followed the rules that the park has created! -
It could be considering the amount of the land that is currently available. But, I'm not too sure if it would be a clone though as it could be built taller and faster creating more of a splash. But they also mention that a steel coaster could utilize that space as well. It's hard to say what will be going in the former spot of Invertigo. But, this plan is definitely a step into the right direction for a prosperous growth.

Thunder Road had three bench cars, so they would most likely go to a park that uses that style. They don't need those for Timber Wolf. If anything, they need the Millennium Flyers. So, the trains from Thunder Road could be going to three possible parks within the Cedar Fair chain that use the three bench PTC cars. Those parks are Canada's Wonderland as Mighty Canadian Minebuster uses three bench PTC trains, Kings Island as The Racer uses three bench PTC trains, and Kings Dominion as Rebel Yell uses those trains as well. The trains could be used on The Beast at Kings Island as well, although they're shorter than the current trains so, I doubt we would see that. So, those are three possible parks and coasters they could be appearing on in the future but only if they're in good condition. There is more then that, without even thinking I also came up with Wolverine Wildcat and Blue Streak Yes, you're right! I had forgotten about those. Any of these coasters could receive the trains from Thunder Road. -

Here's the video below. I'm glad to see that Carowinds has finally started teasing their "new" vintage/retro rides which are coming to the park next year by taking clips from news articles in order to produce this video! This is definitely a neat way of marketing these rides to visitors! [fbvideonew] [/fbvideonew] -
Carowinds Discussion Thread

Do you think they're going to put a giant tarp over it every night after it's built? Well, they do have a giant tarp over it now... So you never know. They'll call it "Tarp Scan" when it is announced and opens! Sure, some fading has occurred on Shockwave at Canada's Wonderland but, that took years for that to happen. The park touches up the paint every so often so it always looks good. The only time there will be tarps on the ride is possibly during the off-season over the ride's seat rows as that is what happens to Shockwave at Canada's Wonderland during the off-season. Does anyone have any idea what Carowinds will call their Top Scan? Hopefully the name is unique and one that hasn't been used on any other Top Scan. -
Worst Coaster Ever?
Johnlloyd replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree that Flight Deck and Time Warp are the worst coasters ever (along with Wild Beast) at Canada's Wonderland. I find that the inversions aren't the problem as the barrel rolls are the best part, it's the turns that cause some head bashing. -

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Johnlloyd replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
More proof of Iron Hurler. The most that Hurler will get is a GCI re-tracking. Canada's Wonderland would usually get an RMC first, especially since Cedar Fair didn't even work with them yet. And Mine Buster or Wild Beast would both make good RMC coasters. Hurler will probably get fixed up a little bit, but I don't see anything drastic happening to it. It just doesn't make sense and there's no solid evidence. I don't think Wild Beast at Canada's Wonderland would receive the RMC treatment as a lot of re-tracking had occurred during the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 off-seasons. I believe they have plans on re-tracking the rest of the coaster during the next off-season. Also, I don't see Mighty Canadian Minebuster receiving the RMC treatment either mostly because about a month and a half ago there was a maintenance member and an official from maintenance department walking underneath and alongside the track pointing at certain sections of the track. Since then, new pieces of lumber have been appearing along certain parts of the track so, I'm thinking that Mighty Canadian Minebuster may be next to get re-tracked like Wild Beast has been receiving over the past two off-seasons. -

Since my last visit on June 22nd and today, this water fountain has appeared in the center of Vortex's helix. It is a very nice touch of scenery and a very nice visual while riding Vortex as well! Photo Credit: John Brooks via Amusement Views Photo Credit: John Brooks via Amusement Views -
