Yes, Blauer Enzian (pictured above) is the same ride as Thunder Run. Blauer Enzian had operated where The Fly is today from 1981-1985. For the 1986 season, it was relocated to Wonder Mountain. During this process, the track was extended to create Thunder Run, which has been operating since 1986. -

I noticed that Grace Peacock, the Director of Communications for Canada's Wonderland had hinted on Twitter that "...somebody's getting a makeover for 2018". In the photo it looks like Vortex's cars getting a makeover. It would be nice for Vortex's trains to receive their original colours which they had back when it opened in 1991, as that would be amazing. We'll just have to wait and see what's in store as time progresses. Vortex in 1991 (It's opening year): Photo credit: www.loopyguy.com -
My favourite small park is Seabreeze Amusement Park located in Rochester, New York. I had visited it for the first time last August and absolutely enjoyed my time!

Art of Placemaking - Theme Parks
Johnlloyd replied to ragerunner1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for the link. I will read through it. I hope to focus on at least - lighting, landscaping, signage and details/theming. Looking forward to learning what you have learned from your studies. Yes, all those aspects you listed are very important when it comes to a park's aesthetics and the overall experience of a visit to an amusement park. Art of Amusement Parks is a website based on my interest of amusement parks since at the time of the website was created, there wasn't much discussion on the topic of landscaping at amusement parks. So, it definitely made for an interesting Internet Marketing project, that I have continued on for almost a year after being in college. I am glad that I have come across someone who is like-minded when it comes to landscaping at amusement parks. -

This is a great topic, so thanks for creating it! I am all about landscaping at amusement parks too. Last year, during my final year of college in the Business Marketing Diploma Program at Humber College of Toronto, Ontario, I had to create a website and advertise it through various social media platforms. You may be interested in checking out my website, Art of Amusement Parks which focuses on landscaping at amusement parks, ragerunner1. -
Is anybodys home park their favorite?
Johnlloyd replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes, I just enjoy my home park Canada's Wonderland! Other parks that I have been to may come close, but none completely compare! -

The Leviathan technique is where the ride attendants on Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland will take passengers' loose articles and place them in the bins while the passengers are taking their seats. It is quite effective and greatly cuts down on dispatch times, otherwise wasted by when the passengers do it themselves. -
Yes, I not only like them, but I love them! Do you enjoy riding drop tower rides?

Photos of Defunct Rides
Johnlloyd replied to Le Serpent Mascara's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am enjoying this thread quite a bit so far and I am glad it was revived! Below are a couple of photos of the now defunct Thunder Rapids Log Flume at Darien Lake. During my first visit to the park on August 31st, 2017 it was already standing but not operating and waiting demolition for the all new for 2018 Tantrum. View of Thunder Rapids SBNO (left) from the Giant Wheel. The SBNO Thunder Raids as seen from its former entrance. That is all I have for now, but I will look for and upload other photos of rides that I had captured which are no longer with us. -

Of course they are going to try to hype up any addition as much as possible. That is their job and they do it wonderfully! That is why I love amusement park marketing! I hope to get into it myself one day soon! -

The park president would say that a new Snoopy nighttime show is "very special". Nobody should put any stock into what PR people or high ranking park executives say. That doesn't mean Wonderland won't get something awesome (it seems like they will), but they would say that no matter what. If I am not mistaken, I believe it is Dave Phillips, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Canada's Wonderland who is saying all of this, not the president of the park. -

I believe the height of Wonder Mountain is 150 feet. It would be nice if the park didn't build higher than that when constructing the next roller coaster as it keeps Wonder Mountain very picturesque and timeless when viewed from the main entrance. -

I think a B&M Dive coaster would still work, especially with the underwater tunnel element that is included in the plans. One would definitely fit nicely within the land available behind Wonder Mountain. But, maybe something more unique than a B&M Dive Coaster will be Canada's Wonderland's next roller coaster. We'll just have to wait and see! -

Here's some awesome news hot off the Screamscape press, and this time it is actually happening! Canada's Wonderland has submitted a permit application with the Toronto Water Conservation Authority to construct a roller coaster which features an underwater tunnel/trench nearby Vortex! This coaster could very well open between 2019 or 2020! Click here and scroll down to page 45 to read about Canada's Wonderland's future plan. This could very well support the work that has been seen by CedarFair1's drone during this off-season! Photo credit: Screamscape -
The Official "TPR Coaster Poll" Thread!
Johnlloyd replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It was accidentially added to the wrong park, it has been fixed now. It should be searchable right now, but it will take a little while for it to update on the massive list. Okay, thank you for letting me know! I'll add it to my ranks! -

Hey Robb, I was filing out the TPR Coaster Poll and noticed the Whirlwind at Seabreeze was not on the list. I think you should add it considering that Steel Dragon at Waldameer is on the list. I have enjoyed filling out the Coaster Poll so far! -

You're welcome! From personal experience of riding other Zamperla Hawk models (both 24 and 48 models), I can tell you that these rides are very comfortable and provide smooth looping formations. The restraints are also snug so you won't experience the possible uncomfortable shifting which is experienced on some other rides that invert riders multiple times. If you're really into flat rides, then you'll more than likely enjoy Lumberjack. -

Canada's Wonderland's Director of Communications, Grace Peacock posted a video to Twitter this morning showing off the site of where Lumberjack will be installed. If you look closely while watching the video, you can see that the concrete support structure for the ride's platform has been put in place. It won't be long now until Lumberjack's ride structure and components get put into place! -
