  1. It shows that coasters are not the only thing that brings people to parks. Look at the top 20 in attendance minus a few and tell me what they all have in common? Theme, a great family atmosphere, rides, shows, etc. KD has the coasters, but not much else to offer. Its also destination and location. Obviously tourist hot beds are going to be at the top, but how many people are going to take a vacation to go to Sandusky, Ohio? I doubt La Ronde and CW have much impact on each other's attendance. They are over 300 miles away from each other and each has it's own metropolitan area to draw from. And a language barrier as many French Canadians still are at odds with the English speakers. But don't worry I'm sure kingsdominionlvr will chime in shortly and tell us that we mis-interpreted him again. As the Title Fairy has noticed, he does love to listen to himself. To be fair that makes his argument look better since it means CW and La Ronde don't compete...
  2. Did a search and found it, never mind.
  3. On parking - I've been a few times with a pass from SFA with parking on it and half the time they'll say I still have to pay to park, other times they wave me through free of charge, so I have no idea what the actual policy is and can't recall how much it costs (15-20 is a safe bet at least). I generally preferred heading towards the Nitro side of the park first so I could jump on Nitro, Batman, and all those rides at least once with little to no wait. Especially since KK opening on time with the park or at all on some days can be a gamble...
  4. I'll be there this Saturday, too bad KK is still down, but oh well I've been on it a couple times so I can live without it. As long as I get a ride or two on El Toro it'll be worth the drive up there...
  5. Six Flags Great Adventure is probably the best in the area you described.
  6. Whats wrong with the restraints? I've never had a problem...
  7. I wish I could be there, I'll be checking my computer from work constantly in anticipation, though.
  8. Can't wait to make my first trip out there next year
  9. Moon Shine is nicknamed White Lightning. So, I really don't see what this has to do with a Kings Dominion giga coaster. That theme would probably have more to do with Carowinds. I think, more likely, Kd's coaster will be named after Dale Sr, or just have the usual awful, general Cedar Fair coaster theme. I was just saying that the Carowinds and KD coasters are dropping hints that their rides are racing themed and that racing ties into moonshine so it all comes together in a weird obscure way.
  10. Sounds awesome. I wish Japan had that much Sake variety.
  11. Back - two train wait versus 15 train wait. Back wins everytime... I've only ridden in the back because of that.
  12. I said this in the CP thread, but racing has its roots in moon shine runners racing their cars so this all seems to tie together kind of...
  13. Moon shine from West Virginia + race car themed PR materials from KD and Carowinds. Well, racing has its roots in moon shine runners racing their cars... So, Cedar Fair with a massive random ad campaign it seems that is spanning three parks now.
  14. I'll be down there in February for the Saturday before the Daytona 500, I really hope its open by then...
  15. Ironically enough on that 90 degree remark I've seen some enthusiasts get in heated debates as to whether or not Griffon/Sheikra are really 90* or or only 89.9*...
  16. Knoebel's definitely
  17. A few pages back this was mentioned.
  18. SFGAdv this Saturday. Parents have tickets to a concert that night so I'm using my SFA pass. Figure it will be worth braving bad crowds to get some rides on El Toro.
  19. A racing themed coaster would be pretty sweet. I'd rather have that then a space type theme. Around that area a racing coaster would probably get even more attention, a lot of race fans down there. I can see it now, when NASCAR comes to Richmond for the spring race they can get some drivers out the park for publicity.
  20. That is entirely not my point. I have heard accounts from people, who said no one was even working on fixing it, for 1 whole hour. It is one thing if the coaster is down all day for something major, that cannot be fixed that day, but when no one is even trying to get it back up, It makes me mad. How do these people know if its being worked on or not? BGE is a large park, it probably takes mechanics a little while to get from wherever they are, to BBW to start with (one thing a lot of GP and even some enthusiast don't seem to understand in my experiences is the attendants and ride operators are not qualified to repair the rides, simply report when there is a problem indicated on the control panel). Once there, they need to diagnose the problem and potentially go back where the problem exists to make repairs. BBW is a large ride, a large amount of which is back in the woods. If a problem is occurring with the block breaks before the second lift or the second lift itself it will take time to hike back there and repair the ride. I can understand being upset about the ride being down frequently in its last season. But in all reality the park is probably doing what it can to keep it open for this last month or so. In my experiences its a break down prone ride to being with.
  21. Think about it, on the job page, wouldn't they specify that it takes 1 whole year of job training. That seems like a major detail to me, that they would not leave out. Why would it take a year of training? If you get hired you will be working on all the attractions in the park, 2 of which are already over 300 feet tall. They would be working on many rides, including the new ride. I think that posting tell us as much as the giga label did. Just adding more evidence towards how high it may be.
  22. I have a hard time blaming people for not looking at the weather forecast before going on a trip. I never do when I make plans to visit a park, why? Because I only have a couple chances a season to make trips to parks outside the immediate area, so no matter rain or shine I make plans for those days and will go no matter what. I try to never let rain ruin my day and I will normally stick around as long as possible, though. When you plan a week long trip to go to numerous parks, do you look at the weather forecast and if it looks like rain suddenly decide to cancel your plans because of that? I doubt it. If anything I enjoy rainy days at parks because of the small crowds and I don't mind getting a bit damp. Although the rides being closed can be extremely frustrating, I agree with others who said you might have had a better time if you could have stuck around longer or been more friendly with the park and seen if there was something they could do to help you out. Maybe you could have gotten some tickets to come back at a later date if you explained that the entire reason you came was to ride the coasters for example?
