  1. That sounds like a great system to me. Very fair. I personally think the idea of giving someone with a condition like ADHD the ability to cut in line is ridiculous. Waiting in line sucks, no one likes to wait in line for hours. They will never overcome whatever affliction gives them trouble and makes them feel as if they cannot wait if they are never forced to simply WAIT.
  2. Hey, I'm bringing back this old thread to ask a random question. Is there any affordable transportation between Las Vegas and Primm? I'm contemplating a trip to Las Vegas in the fall and would like to get on Desperado.
  3. But, like I imply above, they'd really gain nothing by building something taller than Steel Dragon 2000. It wouldn't be "tallest coaster". It wouldn't even be "tallest full-circuit coaster". It would be "tallest, non-launched coaster". Not a very impressive or marketable record. I guess "tallest gravity-powered coaster" would have sounded a little better, but it still reeks of equivocation. Very true, simply building a 300+ foot ride, 100 feet taller then the other hyper coasters in the area, is going to be a huge draw. No one other then enthusiasts will care if there's a slightly taller gravity powered coaster in Ohio, let alone Japan.
  4. Six Flags America (a bunch of times) Hershey Park Six Flags Great Adventure For the first time I went to: Knoebels Trimper's Rides Jolly Roger Amusement Park Jolly Roger at the Pier Its doubtful I'll get to any other parks but if I do it will likely be BGE for Halloween or a random weekend in September
  5. The 3rd hill on SROS @ SFA is easily one of the best moments of airtime I've experienced personally. That alone makes it a worthwhile ride for me.
  6. I've seen this happen a couple times on SROS @ SFA over the last couple bunny hills, unfortunately it never seems to happen with anyone fit and attractive over there.
  7. The over-bank turn around the with the supports close to the train and the insane twister finale give some nice variety imo. But if you prefer the smoother ride and floater air of the B&M coasters then that's cool. I like Nitro a lot, I love going over the 3rd hill and hammerhead because its just so smooth and you can look around a bit and just feel like you're soaring out there, but all in all I definitely prefer the insanity and ejector air that El Toro and those other Intamin coasters can provide.
  8. I really don't think the theme of the kids area is all that important frankly. Kids and families will still be there and still riding the kiddie rides no matter if spongebob or snoopy are on the sign. However, couldn't you make a strong case that the parents - the ones paying for the admission and driving hours to go to the park - might see a snoopy themed kids land and want to make the trip more? They can relate to those characters and what they meant to them when they were younger and everything. That seems pretty logical to me. If there's anything the peanuts characters have its lasting power. Everyone knows who they are and they are timeless, nickelodeon on the other hand is the opposite, they seem to go through some kind of re-branding every few years and have an almost entirely new show lineup every several years. In general I can see how the peanuts brand makes sense for Cedar Fair.
  9. That is a matter of opinion there buddy, I always have rather enjoyed SFA. Sure its mostly clones, however it is the only park where you will not have to wait for said clones. This year the park has been great anyhow. In fact, most people I have taken to both KD and SFA say they enjoyed SFA more because of shorter waits and friendlier staff! how bout them apples? I agree with that. I used to think KD was heads above SFA, but the past couple seasons SFA has been a better place to enjoy a day, imho. The longer lines and all around less fun collection of coasters at KD are a major minus, and lately in my visits I've had plenty of issues with other guests. Plenty of rude people. The best was a lady in line at FoF last season who kept having these younger kids cutting the line to join their group already in line. Finally after another kid after a few cut by all of us while we were waiting by the UFO I saw where they were all going so I yell over at her that they need to stop cutting in line. Then she starts screaming at me "This is my kid, I need to have my kid in line with me!!! Blahblah!!!" To which I respond "You've been waiting in line for 40 minutes and you've been doing fine without your kid until now!"
  10. I think the issue with steel coasters is there is a lot more similarity between the rides for the most part. For examples, the B&M hypers/inverts/floorless/etc. all have such similarities between all the rides it can make it tough to really decide which is better then the others. Normally I just have to go by which ride I have been on last out of a type of steel coaster because that one will stick out in my mind as being better then the rest.
  11. New and improved list: 1. El Toro @ SFGAdv 2. Phoenix @ Knoebel's 3. Maverick @ CP 4. Nitro @ SFGAdv 5. Apollo's Chariot @ BGE 6. Kumba @ BGA 7. Big Dipper @ GL 8. Wild One @ SFA 9. Shivering Timbers @ MA 10. Millennium Force @ CP
  12. Why does everyone think SFA should go? I found it to be a very nice park, and it's in a very large Metropolitan area. With a little more investment and advertising, they could be the dominant over King's Dominion. SFI hasn't done any bit of real good with the place for nearly a decade & what with KD's new giga set to debut next season the writing's on the wall as far as competion is concerned....I mean SFI wouldn't even give the park something inexpensive as a THBS clone when they really needed it so why would they start now? You have been saying these same things for the past 5+ years. Next year they're at least getting a new family area which is something. People seem to confuse their perceptions of the park from an enthusiast perspective with the park's "profitability". Obviously SFA is a profitable park and can continue be, otherwise it would have been sold or bulldozed years ago when the land it sits on was most valuable and we were seeing Astroworld destroyed and other parks sold. And they wouldn't be investing money into the park for next season
  13. El Toro. What a great night. I didn't even mind jumping back in line for 30 minutes for another ride. Just plain too freaking awesome.
  14. In my opinion, Dominator is one of the best (if not THE best) floorless coasters out there... Totally agree I find it to be better then Medusa and Kraken personally. I find it pretty funny that the park doesn't even know what the restraints will be like... So maybe we should complain right to source - Intamin, then?
  15. Now with Carowinds formally announcing their Intimidator it will be fun to see which is the better ride next season. I'll be getting a Maxx Pass to find out.
  16. Tell me about it. Nothing bothers me more then being a single rider standing in a hour+ line for a ride that seats 4 people across and being stuck sitting there watching every train leave with at least a few empty seats. You're calling people "hypocrites" at an amusement park and are surprised that they get mad about it? Gee wonder why. Projecting YOUR morals on people doesn't make you right and them wrong; you sound way too judgmental. Security is a job like any other job. And it normally pays well enough. No need to generalize and tear down people who are just trying to make an honest buck.
  17. That's too bad he never got to finish that thing. Must have taken him ages to even get that first hill built. I would never ride it though, something about what essentially appears to be designed after a steel coaster but built entirely with wood by a 14 year old makes me a bit nervous...
  18. Hmm, disheartening to read these negative reviews of the restraints...
  19. Sorry, but I just noticed this comment This has to be one of the most moronic comments posted on TPR. We need to start a hall of shame thread and nominate posts like this one. Does anyone think this guy has been on more than 10 coasters? Not me. I agree that the shoulder restraints will take away some of the drop's thrill...
  20. I'm relieved that the restraints will be different. Looks far more comfortable. Although I'd prefer nothing over the shoulders as far as restraints go, these sound far better then the restraints in the animation and look like it won't negatively affect the ride too much. All in all good news. Now I will commence complaining that the planet snoopy theme change will further ruin the Treasure Cave.
  21. Free beer sounds a bit risky, I'd hate to see what kind of trouble/accidents could result from all the drunk folks.... I'd always imagined park starting out with: - Out and back woodie along one part of the park's perimeter. - Used looping Schwarzkopf - imagine Scoprion at BGA scale of ride. - Ferris Wheel, shoot em up dark ride, antique cars, log flume, an inverting flat like a KMG Freak Out, small drop tower.
  22. ^ Exactly, Fox 11 News is correct. Like I said, I'm nitpicking and I'll drop it after this; but I do agree with you for the most part. Multiple sources > listening to any one source exclusively.
  23. Is it wrong that I found this to be funny? On the topic of that on-ride video, that was plain appalling. Unbelievably bad...
