  1. I notice many more people who seem to really dis-like it myself. I personally have always enjoyed it a lot. The layout and setting is pretty original as far as B&M inverts go. I always found it to be a very smooth but forceful ride in the back with good pacing.
  2. I'd really like to make another trip this summer to a park other then SFA... Maybe I can still do my Kennywood trip before the summer is done. Otherwise I'll be making a couple more trips to SFA to end the season...
  3. Talk about jumping to conclusions... The park can't help if a fatigued and aging ride is having issues breaking down regularly. The ride gets a fault light, mechanics get sent down to figure out whats wrong, and it opens as fast possible. It really is that simple. Its not like they're purposely not re-opening the ride to annoy people. Perhaps to keep the ride running more efficiently they would need to shut down for a week or more to make adjustments or replace parts. Then you would probably complain that the ride was closed for an extended period of time during its last season. As was said this is all part of the reason the ride is being removed in the first place.
  4. AquaTrax has people believing Has there been any proof other than some small construction to say they are getting something in 2010? Just teasers on their twitter.
  5. Just noticed the Aquatrax thing on twitter and was hoping no one here mentioned it... I found it hard to take serious because of the aquatrax jokes on here all the time...
  6. Thats a good point. They really want to push sales in the direction of getting people to stay on the premises and stay there for a long while. I definitely can't recall ever hearing anyone say they were going to Disney for one day like that. When I lived down there it was all about the season pass options and everyone from out of town gets multiple day tickets it seems.
  7. I remember that of course, but maybe the entire "UFO sighting" was KD version of a virile campaign type of thing? With it being right next to FoF I'm essentially looking at it as being something similar to what KI did with Firehawk. I'm basically expecting it to loosely tie into the area along those lines.
  8. Coaster Crew via Twitter says a UFO-esque theme could happen... Makes sense being next to FoF and all.
  9. I guess if I had to try to explain my opinion of the parks I'd sum up it up as Disney providing visitors a more complete experience with (imo) better attractions and guest service. Additionally I find the operations to be nicer, employees to be better/more friendly, and the attractions to be of a higher standard in theme and quality. I'd go on to say this is more true of the Magic Kingdom or Epcot, however, while Animal Kingdom and Studios have never done a whole lot for me personally. Obviously that's just my opinion based on my experiences at the parks, so its not worth a whole lot to anyone other then me. Like you said its hard to put my finger on exactly why I have the opinion that one is better then others or more worth my time/money. I guess I just feel like I get more for my money at my favorite Disney parks then I do at the other Orlando parks, so I'm not a huge fan when they all raise prices. Generally I think that I'd be more comfortable spending a bit less to go to Universal or Sea World for a day then Disney.
  10. Que? Sorry, I don't follow. Essentially, I never found either of the Universal Parks or Sea World to be nearly as nice as the Disney parks.
  11. The only real problem I have with Disney raising prices is it will quickly be followed by Sea World and Universal matching them when in all reality those parks simply don't merit that kind of spending. Disney is in a league of its own above everyone else, while those parks are a large step down imho. I'd still rather visit a place like Knoebels for 1/5 the price.
  12. Totally agree, take Montu but subtract the trims and MCBR and add a more relentless and forceful ending and you have Afterburn. Afterburn blew my mind when I rode it. Definitel beating Montu, imo. I disagree now-a-days. Back when Montu first opened and the MCBR was barley noticeable I would agree 100%, though. Now-a-days with the MCBR turned on so hard I feel like the speed and forces in the second half is really pretty minimal. On the other hand Afterburn takes the flat spin and helix with a good amount of speed before hitting the breaks at a good pace.
  13. Wow thats an awesome deal. I'll have to do that!
  14. I loved Knoebels when I went for the first time a month or so ago. Phoenix is a very close second on my favorite wood coaster list for now (right behind El Toro). How much does it cost to camp? I'm thinking next summer I want to stay up there for a night or two rather then drive 3.5 hours from Virginia two times in the same day.
  15. Only credit whorish thing I can recall doing was visiting Cyprus Gardens a few years back and riding the Fiesta Express... I had the whole train to myself.
  16. I voted for El Toro obviously. What a joke, nothing at La Ronde should even be CLOSE to El Toro, or for that matter half the rides being poled...
  17. An underground nuclear missile base? That is an awesome theme, too bad it never became a reality. That might have been awesome.
  18. Dollywood - I've been to Pigeon Forge but never on a day they were open. Speaking of Pigeon Forge, that go kart place that had that small woodie "The Intimidator" or w/e it was called before being sold and all that, I missed out on that as it was still under construction when I went... Disneyland - I was only a couple years old so I didn't get on any of the coasters, don't remember the trip at all actually. I missed all the credits at Hershey except Coment, one side of Lightning Racer, and Storm Runner the first time I went since it was during an all night party thing for schools. They only had the front of the park open for a little while then the back later on and only some rides running. So until I came back a few years later I had a lot of missed credits. SFOG - I missed Goliath by a month or so because I went during the park's opening weekend of its first year operating. I also missed Ninja because they were repainting it, and I missed Deja Vu since it was closed. Carowinds - I skipped the kiddie credits there that adults can get - Scooby and Reptar
  19. Especially when they know full well that every coaster enthusiast who signs that petition will come back ASAP to ride the new coaster they build if only to get the credit. I'm sure BBW held a special place for a lot of people, but honestly that section of the park needs an overhaul and BBW with its age and costs is part of that. I'm excited to see what they do in the future.
  20. Very true, looking at the track itself and the parts we've seen so far its hard to say how similar these rides will be constructed.
  21. My ranking of all I've been... - Afterburn @ Carowinds - Raptor @ CP - Montu @ BGA - Great Bear @ HP - Alpie @ BGE - Fire Dragon @ IOA - Ice Dragon @ IOA - Batman @ SFetc.
  22. Awesome pictures and report. Good job!
  23. Why bother building a ride 240+ feet when you have a good thing going making great coasters at 240 and less feet?
  24. El Toro followed by Phoenix Everything else I've been on is far behind.
