  1. One consideration may be that the rides listed as doing a lot of testing at night were testing while the park was open to guests. By testing at night they can avoid confused and potentially angry guests who may see the ride doing cycles and not understand why they can't ride.
  2. I could wait until April, but I'd rather not... The sooner we see the trains the sooner we can complain about them!
  3. I'm sure some pictures or information will leak out over the next couple months. No way they can hide the trains THAT well til April...
  4. The worst was always when a parent would get angry and claim that I let their kid ride earlier in the day when I have a very good memory and always checked all guests who appeared close to the limit. Don't pretend I'm that naive or forgetful.
  5. Definitely gotta get the flash pass at SFGAdv if you never get to go out there. The lines are typically massive for all the coasters in my visits. I've never purchased a flash pass, but I get up there every year so by the time I was making my 3rd or 4th visit up there I finally got all the credits done (dead serious, between rides being down and the huge lines it took a few visits over a few consecutive seasons to get on all the coasters). edit: However last year I made a trip to the park on a Saturday when they had a large concert going on. I even arrived at the park 45 minutes after opening and I still got on every single coaster with no flash pass (including several rides on El Toro and Nitro). So it really can be a total crap shoot and you can go on a random good day.
  6. Apparently the trains are in transit to Doswell.
  7. I got to do this at Michigan International Speedway a few years back and had a good time, I'd totally recommend going out and trying it.
  8. Nice TR! I think the fact that Lochness is the least-good major coaster a BGE speaks to just how awesome the ride collection there is.
  9. Very true all around. One example off the top of my head is Knoebels, that place is waaay off the main road.
  10. That's my main concern - the length of the trims. Unlike some of the other intamin rides with trims its not just a short segment, its pretty long. But Maverick has the trims after the launch and the second half is still crazy intense, so we'll see.
  11. OK... So the ride has OTSRs AND trims over what looked to be one of the few highlights of the ride as it might give some airtime? Holy crap I am so unexcited for April now it isn't even funny... Oh well, hopefully it won't be too drastic, such as the trims over the last couple hills on SROS and ROS...
  12. My favorites have to be... Beast Grizzly (although it was far better before XLC took down most of its woods...) SROS @ SFA Millennium Force
  13. Yep, everyone I know in this area chooses Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens, or even Hershey Park when they go to parks. Its safe to say the majority of people in Northern Virginia see SFA as being a far less worthwhile park than the others in the area; and they will go out of their way to drive further and stay overnight if necessary to avoid SFA.
  14. If Kings Dominion could get Hypersonic running on opening day, I'm sure they can get I305 running on opening day...
  15. I hope so, since they almost have all the track up and there's still a couple months before April it certainly seems possible.
  16. But NASCAR is known for 300 foot lifts and and right handed turns? Look at Carowind's Intimidator, nearly all floater air hills (typical of the B&M hypers); I'm just saying that most of this ride is the one element I didn't enjoy in Intamin's past coasters - the snappy transitions that toss you around.
  17. The length doesn't bother me per se. I'm more bothered by the lack of airtime producing hills and the abundance of sharp transitioning turns... But we shall see. Hopefully it will pack a nice punch and be a good ride.
  18. The only ride being moved from an open park to another open park is Chang. The other two were moved from now closed parks (SFAW forever and SFNO looking very bleak at best). And SFKK could very well be next on the chopping block to Astro World'd or Geauga'd... I would say that those ride movements don't signal the start of ride rotation starting again.
  19. I'll ride the back on most woodies, but hurler in the back is far too rough for me.
  20. I never disliked Hurler as much as a lot of people. I'll always go for a ride in the front seat during my visits because the airtime over the first couple hills is fantastic and the ride isn't TOO rough up front. The main problem is the highly banked turns, especially the first one after the first drop. They need to some serious work on that turn, it can be absolutely brutal.
  21. I normally go "Wooooo"... Occasionally laugh when a ride is really crazy or something... My first ride on El Toro was more like... (around the first turn) "WOOooo...." then... (going down first drop "WOOOHOLY SHIII....." I expected insane airtime, but not THAT insane.
  22. I'll rank Beast higher than some people, but only with the stipulation that I'm thinking of night rides, and counting centimental value, and remembering the ride before the magnetic brakes...
  23. The color of Dale's Bud car was Red. The predominant color of Dale's Wrangler car was Yellow. And don't fool yourselves for a minute thinking CF even thought of this. They just happened to buy a lot of Red and Yellow paint when it was on sale. That's Dale Jr, his son, who raced in the red Bud car. Red and yellow are physiologically stimulating colors. Causing excitement and hunger in people. I think that's the main reason Cedar Fair has been going crazy with those colors lately, getting people worked up physiologically.
  24. SFA and Kennywood on the same day? That seems like a stretch to me since they are very far apart, especially given traffic out of DC. How in the world are you going to pull this off in one day? Day 9 -Six Flags America (10:30am-noon) -Drive 4hr 30min -Kennywood (5pm-10pm) -Drive 45min -Fun Fore All (10pm-11pm) I can't remember if Fun Fore All has their coaster open that late though. We tried to go there last year, but we wouldn't have gotten there until 30min after closing. Kennywood can close earlier than 10pm, so if they close early we might go to fun fore all. If they stay open until 10 and we're having a lot of fun with night rides we probably won't leave just to ride a kiddie coaster. When I have some I need to figure out how much this whole thing is going to cost. I hope that works out for you; should be a long, but exciting day. Since I got a Maxx Pass from Cedar Fair I'm planning on getting out to: - Kings Dominion several times - Carowinds - Kings Island - Dorney Park Outside of that I'll go to Cedar Point if I can take enough time off to get to both Kings Island and Cedar Point in the same trip. I also want to get to Kennywood at some point. Six Flags America is always a possibility, but I haven't decided for certain if I'm going to get a season pass next year...
  25. It wasn't that long ago Six Flags sold off all their international properties except Mexico, then later numerous properties in the States. And of course there was the stockholder revolt which put the new management in place back in 05... So its not like Six Flags has been unscathed the past decade. Just saying. And this is disregarding the whole bankruptcy and de-listing of stock thing.
