  1. All the anti-B&M, "Forceless" people never fail to give me my daily dose of eye-roll! Mako looks awesome, both in terms of its appearance, and also the ride experience it will deliver! I can't wait to get down there and ride it again, hopefully in a year or so!
  2. It's got a tunnel. . . Already better than Valravn. Though I must say, then when I watched the POV for the first time, after the tunnel I said to myself "Well, that was a tunnel just for the sake of "having a tunnel" only! Still, it's a tunnel, so it's cool! Definitely looking forward to riding it next year, and both of my older kids adored White Lighting (as did their father), so they will likely love this too! Nicely done, BGW!
  3. Wow! It looks great! Thanks for the image! I love the section where you come over the Montu wall, before dropping into that trench!
  4. to the Pictures! to the fact this coaster is gone... Oh well, at least having ridden it gives me some "coaster cred" with my younger enthusiast friends!
  5. BTW, I don't think I've seen it mentioned, but sometime in the past week the Satellite images on Google Maps were updated, and now show the Cobra's Curse construction. It's from before it was completed, but at least now I have a concrete idea of the footprint of the ride, which I've been trying to figure out for a while! I definitely didn't realize it encroached on Montu so much prior to now! Can't wait to get back to BGT someday and ride it!
  6. Hello Coaster Loving Baseball Fans! I have run a Fantasy Baseball league for years, and it was a Keeper/Dynasty league. However, I took a year off from it last year, and we are re-booting it this season, with a complete Re-Draft. Most of the members are returning, however a couple are not. So I am looking to fill our final spot, ASAP! Yes, I was slow in getting it off the ground this year, and didn't get it done before the season started. The Draft is going to be tonight though, at 9:15, through ESPN. It will be a Keeper League again, going forward. H2H scoring. If you enjoy Fantasy Baseball, or have ever wanted to give it a try, let me know ASAP, and message me your e-mail address. Or, if you have questions, you can feel free to ask me. I am just looking to fill this vacancy quickly, so the Draft can go off without a hitch tonight. Let me know if you're interested!
  7. There's a reason a park almost an hour farther away from me has always been considered my "home park"! Having said that, I must say, that compared to nothing, which is what I assumed MiA was getting this year, this is actually pretty cool. I mean, I'm a nostalgic fellow, who actually went to the park when it was Deer Park Funland, so I think it's a pretty fitting way to honor the Anniversary! Now, they just need to get that record breaking Giga coaster with inversions in 2017!
  8. I feel the same way. The Budweiser taste way crisper there its beautiful. Life is too short to waste time drinking swill. X 100! (Not to mention wasted calories! If I'm going to expand my waistline, it had better be with substantive beer! )
  9. Too true! Of particular note: New Holland's Dragon's Milk - my favorite beer! SO great! The other two Michigan beers are good as well, particularly Founders Dirty Bastard!
  10. I went to Carowinds for the first time last year, and this was kind of how I ended up feeling as well... We even skipped a second ride on Intimidator at the end of the day, that would have likely precluded us from getting a final ride in on Fury, to get that last Fury ride in (our 7th of the day!)
  11. Bring the lift hills to our waterpark to move mammoth rivers boats up the hill. Those massive tubes get heavy after a couple trips. Seriously, so much Nina likey!
  12. 37 years old, and my first coaster was Jr. Gemini (now Wilderness Run) at Cedar Point. I think the year was 1983...
  13. I was going to "Nina Kleppe" this, but then I realized there is nothing to "like" about the sad reality of what you're saying...
  14. Very sage advice to take to heart regarding anything discussed on this site... This hobby of ours is all about fun - or at least it should be.
  15. 1a) Millennium Force 1b) Maverick 2) GateKeeper 3) Raptor 4) Blue Streak 5) Magnum XL-200 6) Top Thrill Dragster 7) Wicked Twister 8) Rougarou 9) Gemini 10) Iron Dragon 11) Mean Streak 12) Cedar Creek Mine Ride 13) Woodstock Express 14) Corkscrew 15) Wilderness Run
  16. THIS The park is what it is, and I have come to peace with that reality. Is it disappointing? Sure, since the potential here is huge! But it's still a great place to take the family for a day, once a year, and that's really all it needs to be - for me at least...
  17. At this point, it could very well be my first trip to Dollywood, in March!
  18. Two weeks ago: Maverick, after Midnight, last ride of the night, front seat! Definitely an awesome way to enter the off-season for me! Considering my next coaster I ride may very well be Lightning Rod... That's a kick-butt closer to opener there!
  19. Personally, I've NEVER left a line to use a restroom, in 30+ years of going to amusement parks. If I get in line, and have to go, I wait it out. I know the rules. I Can't stand those who ignore them, and push by for whatever reason: valid or not...
  20. 1978! Going with my Top 3, that I have also ridden... 1. Loch Ness Monster - Bush Gardens Williamsburg 2. Gemini - Cedar Point 3. Florida Hurricane - Boardwalk and Baseball
  21. I went to CP on Friday night, and had a great time! Night rides are always awesome, and even though the weather was chilly, it wasn't brutal most of the night, and there wasn't any rain. Having said that, CP was having some trouble getting their Intamins running that night! MF was fine all night, but both TTD and Maverick were down most of the night, with the latter only opening the last couple of hours. Wicked Twister also experienced extensive downtime. Alas, lest B&M escape unscathed, Raptor went down at some point in the middle of the night, and didn't open again. Not sure what exactly was going on, but it was not a banner showing for CP... In the end, we didn't get to ride TTD or Raptor, but honestly, that didn't bother me much, as we got two rides on GateKeeper (one on each side), and front seat rides on MF, Rougarou, and Maverick (as the last ride of the night!) Additionally, we were able to ride Blue Streak, maXair, and Magnum. There were two surprises from the trip for me... Firstly, was how awesome Rougarou was at night! It was lit up great, and along with the fog and sound effects, was a great nighttime/halloween coaster experience! Everybody in my group was pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed it, and while we only rode it once due to time constraints, we all wanted to ride it again. The line was walk-up into the station too, which doesn't hurt! With so many of the other coasters down, MF and Magnum had lines that were probably unusually long for a Friday night. The second surprise from the trip was that as awesome as the front seat ride on MF at night was (and it truly is an amazing experience), I think I actually was even more enthralled by my night ride on Maverick! Whipping through those twists and turns in the darkness, after Midnight, was a perfect way to end the night! Sorry I don't have any pictures to share, but I'm not much of a photog, and my phone doesn't take very good pictures anyway. Suffice it to say, however, that the park looked great! Oh, and one last thing I must say... Having now seen the Valravn track in person, in the natural light, I must definitively say that it is a shade of orange! I don't know where anybody ever got brown from, other than the fact that it's more of a "burnt orange" color than the true orange color that Rougarou is. For what it's worth, my three companions on the trip, including a graphic designer who works with colors as a professional for a living, all said it was orange as well. Just sayin'...
  22. I'm definitely a GateKeeper guy! Not that I don't also really like Raptor (I put it above Magnum and TTD when it comes to ranking CP coasters), but I really enjoy the flow of GK, as well as the experience of what it does in traversing the front of the park. I also prefer the Wing Coaster riding experience to the Inverted, everywhere but the front (on the Invert). I think Rougarou is a massive improvement over Mantis, and Floorless Coasters are among my favorite styles, but the second half of that coaster still has too much headbanging for my taste (something downgrading Raptor as well). After getting some night rides in on Banshee a week ago, however, I think I'd put that above even GateKeeper though. Still, I love GK, and anticipate it remaining my favorite B&M at CP next year, even after Valravn opens!
