  1. Definitely maXair at Cedar Point! I will say, however, that two of my favorite flar rides seem to be dying off... Chaos rides, and especially Top Spins. My second favorite specific flat ride of all time was Texas Twister at Geagua Lake! Of all the Top Spins I've been on, that one seemed to have the wildest ride cycle, and one particularly slow day, I got two extended rides as the only person on the ride, and man, was that amazing!
  2. I've only been to Knott's once, and it was since Silver Bullet, so I cannot comment on the nostalgia of what the park looked like before. However, I will say that I loved Silver Bullet, and what makes it better than a lot of B&M Inverts to me (including all the Batmans), is its position over the water! I always love it when a coaster interacts with water, and SB is no different! I do understand the nostalgic effect, however... While there is no doubt TTD is a fun and thrilling coaster, and a great addition to Cedar Point, I do miss the "old days" before it was built, when that path between Magnum and Power Tower was such a quiet and tranquil part of the park. I imagine that people's feelings about where SB sits now is a similar situation...
  3. ^^bert425, you got me! I flinched pretty good when I clicked that orange icon and popped onto your post! Why do I suddenly have the feeling I may not want to visit the unread posts in this Kennywood thread for a while!
  4. I will say, that after being blown away by it when I rode it years ago, my most recent visit it seemed "tamer", though I attribute that to the fact that as I've experienced more and more intense rides, it seems less and less intense. Still not at all "mediocre", in my opinion, but certainly not El Toro awesome!
  5. I'll it. As I said in the SWO thread, it's all personal preference people. We're all right, and nobody's wrong. I would think that's a situation that would appeal to people, but I guess some just like to argue...
  6. Life is too short to get into arguments with people online about things. So I'll just say this. B&M Hypers deliver TONS of airtime (aside from Raging Bull - which is still great in its own right). Nitro in particular was one of the first roller coasters that blew me away with its airtime. And this is coming from a guy who has been riding Magnum longer than some of the posters here have been alive! This is my experience, which is 100% factual, and valid. Now, there are different types of airtime, floater and ejector, and some people are obviously going to prefer one over the other. That's called personal preference, or opinion, not fact. Preferring one over the other is also not wrong, or make your opinion any less valid. On the whole, I don't feel like I have a strong preference in the matter. It really depends on the coaster. I find that ALL of the B&M Hypers have nestled themselves into my Top 30 or so coasters, so obviously, I do NOT view strong floater airtime as "mediocre" airtime. Assigning that label to it gives it a definition that really is abstract, in that it's all personal preference still anyway. Still, I love some coasters with strong ejecter airtime (Phantom's Revenge sits near the top of my list, and Maverick's pops of air are pure bliss!), and feel like other coasters with strong ejecter airtime are mediocre (such as the aforementioned Magnum). That doesn't make me wrong, it just makes me different. In the end, it's all opinion, and preference, and really isn't something to argue about. I'm sorry I opened the floodgates earlier by questioning another's definiton of "mediocre", since, admitedly, it is his right to have that personal preference. I guess I was just shocked (and still am) that somebody (and in fact, many people) would consider the airtime on Nitro, or any other B&M Hyper, mediocre. That is certainly FAR from my experience, which, in spite of having far fewer laps on it than some of you, is still just as valid of an opinion. Like Robb has stated elsewhere, talking about not counting credits, this hobby is all about fun, and the personal enjoyment one gets out of a coaster for themself. I masively enjoy Nitro, B&M Hypers in general, and some good, sustained floater air during my coastering experience! But it's also telling that after the two Giga coasters at the top of my rankings, the next 5 coasters all feature intense, ejecter airtime (Maverick, The Voyage, El Toro, Phantom's Revenge, Shivering Timbers.) I guess I just "go both ways" in this matter of sexu- er... airtime preference!
  7. I have only been on 3 B&M hypers, but I would say Diamondback has pretty good airtime. Nitro has mediocre airtime and Raging Bull barely has any. Cedar Point's Blue Streak has more airtime than those coasters combined. Are you kidding me right now?!?! There isn't even a parallel universe in existence where Nitro's airtime could be described as "mediocre"! I'm one of the bigger fans of Blue Streak there is, and it in no way has as much airtime as Nitro alone! You Intamin fanboys are something else!
  8. ^^ & ^ I'm right there with you!
  9. ^You fiend! Honestly, I love these kind of rides, and Black Widow looks great! So, I'm just going to have to face my irrational fear, and... wear a blindfold until I get on the ride!
  10. How ridiculous, that I would ride a thousand foot, beyond vertical drop coaster, with 20 inversions, without batting an eye, but I don't want to walk near a giant spider I know is fake!
  11. I'm a big fan of B&M coasters, so I'm not complaining!
  12. My Top ten is below, in my sig, but I thought it'd be interesting to split steel and wood, and see what it looked like. So here goes! STEEL 1. Fury 2. Millennium Force 3. Maverick 4. Phantom's Revenge 5. Kraken 6. Expedition Everest 7. Behemoth 8. Thunderbird 9. GateKeeper 10. Banshee WOOD 1. The Voyage 2. El Toro 3. Shivering Timbers 4. White Lightning 5. Cornball Express 6. Lightning Racer 7. Apocalypse (apparently, I rode it before it went bad!) 8. Blue Streak 9. Raven 10. Screamin' Eagle I think the moral of this post's story, is that I need to ride a better selection of wooden coasters!
  13. I just really don't get why it would bother you that other people were having fun on the ride. Not everyone has to like the same things and who cares if they're "clueless" or not about coasters. They had fun, good for them, that's all that matters. I don't think anyone's getting "judge-y", I think we're all just confused as to why it would bother anyone.
  14. ^I know this is going to sound really lame, but do you have to go under or near that giant Black Widow to get onto the ride? Because anything that is as good or better than maXair, I would LOVE to ride! But I don't know if I could bring myself to get near that giant spider!
  15. Not nessesarily, it just means that they like the work that they have done and that they think they are doing great things in the industry. See, I have to disagree with you here slightly, as I do feel like what he said was the most positive affirmation for an RMC at CF we've seen yet. And I quote: Granted, he didn't say we WILL work with RMC, but he did say they will probably work with them, before they're done. Given their relative dismissal of RMC'ing wooden coasters in the past, I'd say this is at least a nice improvement in tenor. This concerned me as well, but in a good way. They may not want a repeat of i305, which is excellent for business I presume. I think this business philosophy, moreso than other issues with Intamin, is why they've gone away from them in recent years. B&M does build milder rides, with more spaced out elements, than many of Intamin's end up being. While I have no doubt CF is happy with coasters like MF, TTD, and Maverick, I think they are a little more wary of overpopulating their parks' collections with rides of that intensity. Hence, the "obsession" we've seen by CF with B&M lately...
  16. Personally, if I have zero chance of riding a coaster any time soon, I'm not going to waste any time anticipating it. As such, Taron is not highly anticipated for me at all. Now, once I have a solid, concrete plan to get over to Germany and ride it (and all the other great German coasters!), then my extreme anticipation will commence! As for coasters I'm genuinely anticipating, I said Lightning Rod in this thread well before it was even announced, and it topped my expectations! The best part, is I'd already planned our family vacation to take us to Dollywood (and Kentucky Kingdom) next year, so I'm actually going to get to ride both of their new RMC coasters! So my ranking of most anticipated coasters for 2016, that I actually will, or might, ride... 1) Lightning Rod 2) Storm Chaser 3) RMC Roar 4) Valravn 5) GAdv S&S Free Spin or YOLO coaster (raise this to second if it's a B&M Wingrider over the lake! ) Now, if I was ranking based on which rides look the best (which is what I suspect many are actually saying regarding most anticipated, since they probably won't be riding Taron or Wildfire either next year), it would go like this... 1) Lightning Rod 2) Wildfire 3) Taron 4) Storm Chaser 5) RMC Roar
  17. I WISH B&M would design a NEW Drachen Fire!
  18. Those two are both excellent examples of coasters that I think are Top 20 for me, but I may not even realize they are Top 20 when compiling my list! For me, personally, I find Wicked Twister at CP to be a ride I never think about much, until after I've ridden it, and rememberd how awesome it is!
  19. Man! I love those colors SO hard! Sea World Orlando will definitely always get my vote for the best colored coasters!
  20. Well that doesn't sound like a Hurricane Harbor investment....so it sounds like the investment will be inside the theme park.. Well, that depends... A waterslide would be a hazard to a fire!
  21. Being a major aesthetic lover when it comes to roller coasters, I think the biggest reason I'm still hoping the 2016 GAdv addition is not an S&S Free Spin, is because of that prime lakefront location. I'd have no qualms with that type of coaster back in the old B&R location, or elsewhere in the park. But with that lakefront, and also the forested log flume island, a larger, more terrain interactive coaster would be lovely there! I don't think this is coming, but a launched B&M Wing Coaster would be amazing back in that area! That would definitely draw me out to visit my Jersey relatives again next year! Being realistic, a Premier launched coaster like YOLO would still be an upgrade over a Free Spin there, and could utilize terrain. So I guess that's what I'm hoping for at this point. Make no mistake, though, I think an S&S Free Spin looks fun, and I look forward to riding one someday. Just hopefully not there at GAdv, on the waterfront!
