What is your next park?
DILinator replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My looooong off-season without coasters finally comes to an end this Friday, with Season Passholder Preview night at CP, followed by Opening Day (of the Preview Weekend, at least) the next day! I'm looking forward to Valravn, mostly, but it'll be great just riding coasters again, period! -

I would say your best bets for smaller crowds in June are the 1st and 2nd (Wednesday and Thursday), as well as Monday through Thursday the following week (6th-9th.) After that week, most schools are out for the Summer, and crowds will pick up. Hence, why they are open later during the week, starting that week. Hope that helps! -
Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

I apologize in advance if this has been discussed before, but I haven't been a religious reader of this thread... The thought occurred to me, looking at a satellite image of the park, that the vacant space that used to be for the Antique Cars, is a prime spot for a large coaster, and new, Decker-ized entrance! Just a thought, as it was implied by Ouimet that other parks would still be getting that treatment, and Valleyfair seems like it's setting up to be a prime candidate. -

^Doesn't matter! I'm going to plan a trip for its Opening Day, and then be pissed and blame Dollywood when it isn't open! -

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

A little late to the discussion (argument?), but I'm definitely a MAJOR Fury fan, as it's my #1 coaster! Haven't ridden I305 to compare, but I would be shocked if I liked it more, knowing what I've read and heard. However, I just went to Carowinds last year, and came away very underwhelmed, other than Fury. I had a major case of anticipointment regarding Afterburn, after everybody talked it up, and it's nowhere near Volcano in my rankings! Maybe a Top 5 B&M Invert for me, maybe...? I liked Intimidator, but definitely prefer Dominator. So for my personal tastes (which is all any of this really amounts to anyway), I'd take KD's coaster collection over Carowinds, in spite of me not having been to KD in 14 years! That doesn't really back up a "need" for a new coaster at KD - though I'll take a new coaster anywhere, anytime! -

The following is a non-exhaustive list of fun alternative activities that might be of interest rather than using Quicktime: Mountaineering Flower arranging Watching repeats of Frasier Buying a new hat Thinking about moss Cleaning limescale from your shower Investing in a Ponzi scheme Checking your tire pressure Laughing at squirrels Particularly, laughing at squirrels! A delightful use of one's time! -

The Joker face IS creepy! But then, that's kind of the point! A) Clowns are naturally creepy, and the Joker is a take on the Clown motif, and B) The Joker himself is supposed to be creepy in an overly smily/sadistic kind of way! So I think they nailed it with that front car! I'm really, really hoping to get out there for the first time and ride it this fall while visiting my brother in California! It looks awesome!

Agreed! I love B&M Hypers, and haven't had an un-enjoyable on one ever! I get plenty of air time on them as well! So what if it's not all ejecter.. It's still airtime! Then you rode a different Fury than me as well, because the Fury I rode was the best coaster I've ever ridden, and was incredibly intense, with a bunch of airtime moments! Nothing about it could be even remotely described as weak...

I get that you're a WOFanatic, but putting WOF in the same tier as KD seems incredibly, incredibly optimistic! -
Yeah, I'm in the same boat... It's about an hour longer for me to go to CP, vs. MiA, but I have a Platinum Pass this year, with many plans to go to CP, but I'm not sure I'm even going to bother with MiA, even though it's "free" at this point. I just went last year, so there's really no need to go again...

Also interesting about the updated satellite image on Holiday World... Legend isn't complete (because it still isn't), but you can get a good overhead view of the places it's being or been retracked. Pretty cool to see! Now, for Cedar Point to get its long overdue satellite image update! -

This! I was pleasantly surprised to see it leading over TTD, which may very well be 4th from this list for me. Storm Runner is so great! -

Boy! It's almost like they saw my post on here, and were like "Oh yeah! We almost forgot!" Thanks for the link! I figured that's where Skyhawk would be based on the dirt patch in the Google Satellite image, but had no idea where Flying Eagles was going. Is there where A-Maze-ing was before? -
October in Michigan can be pretty crappy! As for May, CP doens't even open until a couple of weeks in, typically (they're only doing a preview weekend earlier this year), so MiA only opens a couple of weeks later than them. And yes, being a little further North, it does stay colder up here later than Ohio, usually... Consider that even the difference between North Ohio, and South Ohio results in KI opening a couple of weeks earlier than CP!

Apparently, CW hasn't updated their Park Map online yet? This is a little surprising to me, this close to the season, but I suppose it's not a big deal... Anybody else notice this, or am I just not seeing Skyhawk on the map? I'm curious where it and the Flying Eagles are located, precisely. -

Astronauts used Tang, not Cheetos. I feel that has more class. Ok Elsa, let it go. -
I have to say that I think it looks like a fun little wooden coaster, even from the "crappy" POV! If it's any consolation, I was one of the few people on this site super excited about Storm Chaser after the "crappy" POV, and now that it's built, everybody's super excited about it as well. So hopefully that's a good sign for this coaster's future acceptance! Regardless, it apparently has the approval of my 2 year old son... He watched the POV of the ride on his kindle today for a half hour straight, and wouldn't even let me take it out of his hands to change it to a different POV!

I'll begin with the caveat that nobody really "knows" what the lines will be like on any specific day in the future, as we are not prescient here (at least as far as I am aware of! ) However, yes, your assumption should be pretty accurate regarding shorter lines during that week. I've been going to CP most of my life, and virtually every year for the past 20, and the first week or two that CP is open during the week, in May, is definitely the best time to go! Much shorter lines, and generally, the weather isn't too bad either. I'm actually going the Tuesday of that week (17th), and probably again Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday of the following week. 20-30 minutes for MF, TTD, and possibly even Maverick, are certainly reasonable, and perhaps even shorter times at non-peak times of the day. That being said, if you run into a 45 minute line for Maverick, even on those days, don't be completely shocked... Enjoy your trip to The Point, and if you have any other trip-related questions, feel free to ask!
